Today Gen. Abizaid, said the number Sunni insurgents was between 10,000 and 20,000 fighters. Let’s see what he said in 2003:

On 14 November 2003 General John Abizaid, the head of US Central Command, estimated the number of fighters operating against US and allied forces at no more than 5,000, and said the insurgency remained a loosely organized operation.

Maybe things were better in 2004? According to a report in the NY Times, the number of fighters increased to 12,000:
The New York Times reported on 22 October 2004 that senior American officials believed that “hard-core resistance” comprised between 8,000 and 12,000 people,

So progress in Iraq is measured by the increasing number of Iraqis trying to kill us?

Only to give the readers something to think about other than the "liberal drivel". That's all most people get from most of the news and liberal Democrats. And what do you define as being the difference between being taught and being trained? How are you supposed to train in history? What do you think happens in math and science classes all day? Maybe the teaching of theories and formulas and then training in how to apply them.

Tell me exactly how you would change schools from what they do now. But first, you must show me, using evidence and sources, exactly what schools are doing now. Do you even know?

Don't point out an individual case, show me what the average student classes are and how they are being taught. Then explain how you would do that.

There are 103 million families in the US

The average individual burden per US family of the Bush Iraq operation is $30,477 to date.

Our costs on an ongoing basis in Iraq are currently at $3 billion per week.

$3 billion per week is a weekly burden per US family of $210...that's each week, Mark.

This operation is an unmitigated disaster, Mark. It's time you were honest with your readers...and with yourself.

I don't understand how you are responding to what I wrote. Lucas, your site shows nothing about what kids are being taught in public schools, only why parents pulled their kids out of schools. Of course some parents do not like the public school system. Most of these people would probably not be happy with public school short of teaching the Bible, posting the 10 commandments, and christian prayer. Your site shows that 1.1 million kids were homeschooled in 2003. While that number is growing it is still quite small compared to how many kids are school age.

AAR, I never stated that schools do not teach sex education. I find it funny because you make it sound like this is the only thing being taught in schools. Sex education is an exremely small portion of what kids are learning in school. To refresh, here is what you said:

Go back through the comments and maybe you will see the link. But... you missed the point I was making. Kids aren't being taught to think, nor are they being taught the information on which to think. They are being taught the liberal version of subjects including history, civics (government), and the Constitution. Go back and check some of the history books from the 50's and compare them with those written today. Liberals concentrate on things that mean something to them -- sex education, gay education, abortion enlighten, etc. -- when our children are falling further behind as we spend even more on education. Listen to some of the simple questions teenagers and young adults are asked on Jay Leno. It's pathetic some of the things they don't know. Look back at some of the findings on today's education. Many kids can't even find New Jersey, Iraq, or the Pacific Ocean on a map. They can't see the facts in our war on terror. They support the terrorists and ignore what terrorists doing. They don't understand that people and nations can't just sit down and talk to terrorists or people like Hezbollah and Hamas and "make them understand" or "act like we want them to act". They don't understand that sometimes we must fight. They don't understand the ramifications of encouraging terrorists by avoiding a confrontation with them. And to top it off, our children are trapped in those public schools. But that's just a start....

We have known divisions, which must be healed to move forward in great purposes--and I will strive in good faith to heal them.

Please tell me just what actions your Greatest! President EVER!!!! has done tp "heal" those divisions??

Sometimes in order to heal up the wounds, you must open old wounds first. If that means removing the Taliban, the Hezbollah then so be it.
And as far as trying to explain something to the opposing party, the only wound is the Democrats that have taken that ONCE great foundation and literally destroyed it.
You cannot reason with the likes of Barbara Boxer, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Michael Moore, Robert Byrd, Bill Clinton, Barbara Streisand, John Murtha (a traitor to our American Armed force men on the battle front-and America).
and others I won't name.
These people have one agenda CONTROL..CONTROL..if that means joining with the enemies of this nation so be it.
That's sad, don't you think?
As far as the greatest President, sir George W. Bush will go down into History as our Greatest President, because it prevented you from possibly "Licking the Boots of the Taliban".

Let me ask you a question, How can the president heal these wounds that the democrats have created?

When the President tries to talk to the democrats he is so doggedly bombarded by insults and slander that he can't even get a word in edgeways!!
All the while he continues to be patient with them and baby-sit them!
The president wants better schooling for our children, the liberals say NO!!
The president wants to help those less fortunate by removing the evil forces surrounding them, the liberals say NO!
The president wants marriage to stay within the confines of man and woman ONLY, so as to have a means in which children have the proper and necessary up-bringing!! the liberals say NO!
The president wants to raise the minimum wage so that people will have enough to live a decent living, the liberals say NO!
The president wants to ban the abhorrent murdering of un-born children, the liberals say NO!
The president wants to keep illegals out of America so the AMERICANS! will have more oppotunities for jobs, the liberals say NO!
The president wants to drill for oil in America so we can become less dependent on foreign supplies and save AMERICA! TRILLIONS OF TAX-PAYER DOLLARS!!, the liberals say NO!!

So how can he heal the wounds if the liberals stand in the way?

The liberal democrats have caused so much damage to America, that we are split wide open and have no strength or means in which to join the broken peices together!!
