Some Bolton nuggets. I wonder what he thinks about Iraq?

"I remain convinced that government is not an effective problem solver," Bolton wrote in an article for the Class of 1970 25th reunion book. "I would still rely on people and markets."

Though Bolton supported the Vietnam War, he declined to enter combat duty, instead enlisting in the National Guard and attending law school after his 1970 graduation. "I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy," Bolton wrote of his decision in the 25th reunion book. "I considered the war in Vietnam already lost."

Just another chicken hawk that is all talk and no action.

Bareny Boy, did you serve in the military? And what does serving in the military have to do with being an ambassador to the UN? And why should I care about a Yale news paper? It's proabably run by journalism students, and I don't care about college amatures.

Posted by: Keep to the Right [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 03:17 PM

Eh, the UN is f**ked anyways.

Posted by: Georgia Frawg [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 03:33 PM

I saw a video of UN "Peacekeepers" picking up Hezbollah terrorists and transporting them out of harms way. These UN "Peacekeepers" could well have been doing the same and just got taken out with the Hezbollah terroists. I wish I had the link, you could see it for yourselves.

Fox News is reporting that the ability to stop Bolton's confirmation by the Democrats will amount to nothing. Schumer and Clinton have said to the reporters that they will likely support Bolton.

Turn out the lights...the party's over.

Posted by: Reverend Scaramonga [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 04:27 PM

Kttr, if you did not know, Bolton was a very outspoken proponent for invasion in Iraq, and just like Cheney and Bush, he choose to chicken-out when his nation called. The neo cons are big talkers when it comes to sending other people to die.

Posted by: Barneyg2000 [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 04:53 PM

Barney Boy, your avoiding answering my question. What's the matter are you chicken? I bet you didn't serve in the military and your criticism is a load of crap. At least he was in the National Guard, and that does not guarantee that you will not see combat. Since you did not serve shut your trap and don’t criticize someone else for something you did not even come close to. Hypocrite!

Posted by: Keep to the Right [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 05:09 PM

he choose to chicken-out when his nation called

You talking about Clinton here? Ol' "draft-dodging" Slick who left the country to avoid the draft, smoke dope, and likely sleep with half the women in London? Or would it be Al Gore and his "heroic" war service as a "reporter?"

BTW: all them yellow bellies who ran to Canada during the Viet Nam war: Democrats. Many never came back because they didn't want to get arrested and jailed. That's our gain and Canada's loss.

I really don't think you want to open that can of worms. Democrats have long records of ducking and running and peeing down both legs when some bad enemy says "Boo!"

And don't even start on that phony Kerry. I was in Viet Nam. I was in the Navy. I served in Riverine 3 on river patrol boats. I know about that "hero."

Posted by: Reverend Scaramonga [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 05:13 PM

Um, guys???

Barney don't do "conversation", Barney does "insult & smear."

Must be tough being Barney ... going through life consumed with hatred for people who don't even know he's alive.

Posted by: BD [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 05:14 PM

Good point, BD, but you might add that he goes through life consumed with hatred for people he knows nothing at all about.

So, how's about it, Barn? Are you gonna answer KTTR's question? I already know the answer, but don't want my comment deleted, so I'll keep it to myself.

Scar, I'd be willing to wager that besides yourself, Spook, and me, not many of the others here remember the Vietnam war. None of the trolls, other than Ash, do.

Bolton punk'd Kerry today at the confirmation hearings...

Posted by: keefer [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 06:53 PM

This guy may not be everybody's friend... but he's doing a good job.

Also... it's something we need to do fellow Conservatives... say Bolton is at the same time, not building enough consensus and then building too much consensus, being too tough then being too weak.

Remember guys, these guys have done a great job of convincing the country that this nation is falling apart when every indicator shows otherwise.

I suggest we take out full page ads and show what gains have really been made... but then again, newspaper editoral boards wouldn't want that.

Bolton should be confirmed. Whether you like his personality or not, the President gets to appoint people, and NO one can point to Bolton being incompetent.

Posted by: wawilliyo [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 07:14 PM

Bolton is a consultant to AIPAC. Unpaid of course so it's just advice. Peace

Posted by: steve at July 27, 2006 07:14 PM

This guy may not be everybody's friend... but he's doing a good job.

And old WWII bombardier once told me that "if you're receiving flak, you're probably over the target."

Bolton is rattling a lot of cages and the worthless clowns at the UN don't much like it. We need more people just like him.

kttr, no I did not serve. I am anti Iraq war, so my position has remained the same. I can not say the same for Bolton, Limbaugh, Cheney, Bush and the other chicken hawks whom talk the talk, but sh*t their pants when it is time to walk the walk.

If Bolton is doing such a good job, why is N. Korea and Iran telling us to blow it out our hole?

Posted by: Barneyg2000 [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 08:28 PM

kttr, bd and keef, I have a great life, and the only people I hate are those that are ruining this country for their own ego or for profit, but the worst are the religious fanatics that what to return this country back to the days of Salem.

So far my earlier post addressing kttr’s question has not gone through.

Closing on Bolton, I hope he does get nominated. Let Bush hang himself with his own man. How is going to look when the Senate calls Bolton to testify under oath when the Dems open investigations on Iraq?

Posted by: Barneyg2000 [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 09:00 PM

We need to rework the UN in such a way that veto power is only given to those with good Human Rights records (sorry China and Russia).

Posted by: Georgia Frawg [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 09:18 PM

Barneyg2000,

Mr Barney, It sounds kind of bumbling to hear such retoric from someone who knows no political affairs of this great nation.
Salem? Are you talking about the Witch trials of Massachusetts or about politics?
As far as investigations into Iraq.. How about we go to pre-War Iraq during the time, let's say, During Bill Clintons crawling around in the Office once held by some of the greatest political minds of our Nation. "Abraham Lincoln, George Washington,Ronald Reagan,George Bush Sr., etc...... and by the way, Ronald Reagan built our armed forces military to its greatest strength in all time history. He spend well earned tax-payers money and used it wisely I must admit.
How about an investigation into why the dems couldn't cope with an internal investigation into where the mass weapons of destruction went to? Why could they not see.. Why? How about looking further into this matter and maybe like the 747 they found in the desert, "My, what a large piece of equipment, yet difficult in all that sand"..
The weapons of mass destruction are no doubt in Syria, Iran, (Where one of the worlds most dangerous people hides out..)
Why not dig a little deeper during that Administrative time and explain why President Clinton did not capture and hold Bin Laden, when he had him in his own lap.

As for President Bush, thank God we have a man to stand for truth, bravery and not afraid to stand against those pundits, and hypocritical mouths from Massachusetts, New York, California.. everyone knows who I mean.
If it wasn't for our President we have in office at this time, who foresaw the danger to America and the hidden cells of our nation, we would possibly; now be licking the boots of the Taliban.
Thank God for men like Mr. Bolton who will stand against the evil rulers of those nations and who are very possibly organized with the United Nation leaders.
We need to disband the United Nations and move it to the Nations that support them the most with their liberal ideas (definitely not the money,) the communist dictators. Why America is pouring millions upon untold millions to these rascals who have pocketed millions (I call them thieves) is beyond my understanding.
Why the far left liberals cannot see and understand this I fail to understand.
I want freedom, George Bush wants freedom and democracy for every country that is of a willing heart.
Any nation that is willing to be of sound mind and body and spirit, those who understand that our own agendas, our own religions, our own ideologies should not harm those we confront, but we should reach our hands to those oppressed by oppressive regimes and dictatorships around the world.
Thank God for America, the land of the Free and the Home of The Brave.
Don't Like America ?........There's boats leaving everyday, there's planes leaving everyday, don't like it, get on one and leave this great nation of ours, and you'll realize what a great country and nation you had because of folks like Bush, Bolton, and our Great Military Men and Women and its leaders.
The most of the American people understand this battle we're in. Most Americans understand the dangers involved. Our militaries want to fight for our Freedom. Why not our entire Congressmen and Women. Why are so many set against this freedom.
Is it possibly their agendas.?
I think so

Jeremiah,
Nicely done!! It's unfortunate that BG2000 won't take the time to read it and even if he did he would dismiss every valid point. He only wishes to continue spewing his rhetoric and hatred. As that is his agenda, and probably his whole reason for breathing. Lord knows he's not living!

"kttr, no I did not serve. I am anti Iraq war, so my position has remained the same. I can not say the same for Bolton, Limbaugh, Cheney, Bush and the other chicken hawks whom talk the talk, but...blah, blah, blah" Blarney

By this logic, if you are not a veteran, you have no right to serve your country in an government job...well that rules out 95% of the defeatocrats in office and probably 75% of civil servants.

Hey!! Maybe Blarney's got something there...this could be the best method of reducing the size of government!

Hey -did anyone else see drive by steve pop in and out? Hey Steve!

Bolton was a guest speaker at AIPAC. I guess that's a member now?

when is the dividing line between a "neocon" and an old conservative? And what's the difference?

I've been a conservative my whole life - despite growing up in Taxachussetts. Yet, I dressed as a tree for a living and ate my food in the mud. Am I a neocon?

I like Bolton. Honest and straight forward. He looks out for us first. What more could you ask for?

Posted by: Kahn [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 27, 2006 10:31 PM

He said: "It is time, that the American spokesman came to be feared in international forums for the truths he might tell. It is past time we ceased to apologize for an imperfect democracy. Find its equal. . . . It is past time we asserted that inequalities in the world may be not so much a matter of condition as of performance. . . . The Third World must feed itself, for example, and this will not be done by suggesting that Americans eat too much."

Refering to the UN he said:

"...in a den of jackels you do not seek consensus..."

John Bolton??

Nooo...

Ambassador to the UN...Daniel Patrick Moynihan...Democrat...Senator

when is the dividing line between a "neocon" and an old conservative? And what's the difference?

I heard today on the radio that "neocon" is Liberal code for Joooo-lover. It is an anti-Semitic term because the lib PC newspeak doesn't allow them to say Jooo-lover. Seems about right to me.

Setting up blogside posts in an attempt to blow up and destroy rational and sound thinking. Good thing the B4B posters are so effective at defusing these IEDs.

Bolton just absolutely (politely) annihilated John Kerry. I was on the floor laughing. Classic. Kerry was so dumfounded he had to stop talking so he could absorb what an ass he was made to look like. Awesome.

We need to rework the UN in such a way that veto power is only given to those with good Human Rights records (sorry China and Russia).

Do you really believe that there is any way that would EVER happen?
