Mark,
Everything you said is spot on!!
As for the liberal left finding a cure though, I'm afraid that won't happen!, until they come to acknowledge Jesus Christ as their sole basis for reasoning and a cure!!
Time has proven the lefts hatred for conservative Christians, and through the many trials that we have been through with the liberal party I'm sure all conservatives including myself!, can agree that we get tired of the insults and hatred directed towards us by the liberals!, and we can also agree; that at some point; we have to stand up!! and throw it right back at them in a conservative way!,
unless we do!, we will be overcome by them!
And we as Christians have the power to defend ourselves, because Christ is the [center]!
It's like I have said before liberals cannot stand the truth; and that truth being; that the conservative Chrisitan ethical approach to any problem in society; is the morally correct definition to a conclusion to partisan matters!, meaning to help each other in a reasonable way and in the way that Jesus instructs us in His word!!
I would like to see a change in the liberals way of thinking and that they would sincerely look for a change of heart, But as long as the hatred remains, What more can we do? We can't just set DAY IN!!, and DAY OUT!!, and be smiten by them!
And as for myself!, I will admit to the fact that I do get upset; and throw a lot of invective weight around in my own slanderous posts, But I pretty much conclude that by any standard of thinking that my slander as well as other conservatives here; in all accounts; cannot, and will not!, amount to the level of hatred that is directed at me and other Christans here, and as you have said before Mark, No one has taken as much criticizm as the President! ecspecially for his belief in the Almighty!!, and it all goes back to the fact that Christians are hated SIMPLY because they are in the RIGHT and they try to do GOOD!, Just to give you an example, think about Jesus!, they were all for Him being crucified right up to the very last minute!, there is a correlation there if you can see it, In which today, we are hated by the liberals for the very same reasons that Christ was hated, because he was spotless and had [no sin] on His hands!, and so [the liberals hate us]-- [because we follow Jesus Christ],of who He was, and what He came to do for mankind, and it is the very same way that the liberals are trying to [tear down] a nation which is through [political power], Our leaders in congress are gradually and ever so more, are replacing the true people who fought so hard to protect the name of God in government!
They are becoming more and more anti-christ!!
And So, this is where we have come to!, We cannot understand why the liberals have so much hate for us?
Well, They have turned their backs on God and want to shove Him out,They have rejected Him, They don't want Him to be part of the true culture of todays society, and in so doing; America will reap the consequences of following after the mantra of the liberal crew!!
In my book NOTHING could be more disastrous for America than for a society to reject the Almighty!,
Jesus said!! I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE!!
and without him, there is complete chaos!!
I do not hate any liberal; But I strongly disagree to their spiteful way of thinking!!!!! and their way of pushing Christians around!!!!!
Because our young people depend on us for their example; and an example exemplifying Christ should be the goal of EVERY AMERICAN!!
And only Christians can do this!!
The love and admiration of Christ is what it is all about!!

They aren't only mean spirited, they're pretty stupid (imho):
Yesterday in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Minority leader Reid gave away the Democrat playbook.
During the course of the interview, Harry Reid said:
The wiretapping of Al Qaeda terrorists by the NSA was illegal.
That he, as leader of Senate Democrats, would not rule out impeaching President Bush over the wiretapping program.
He would seek to filibuster the border security legislation, Secure America’s Borders Act, that I introduced in the Senate last Thursday because it focused only on border security and interior enforcement.
He is in favor of “fair track” amnesty for the estimated 11 million illegal aliens.
He does not believe in improving the physical security of our borders, because with better interior enforcement of employers, illegal immigration would stop (Harry forgot about the very real possibility of drug runners and terrorists crossing our porous borders…I imagine they wouldn’t be looking for jobs).

TL,
You quote a movie? Geesh...also, you've got yourself into a knot there...Coulter could not have advocated genocide and conversion...check with your lefty talking points, 'cause I think you've got a couple of them mixed up.
And as for religion - as there is only one God, so there is only one truth, and thus only one religion which will come closest to the truth about God. It isn't so much a matter of religion A being 100% and religion B being 100% wrong (though there are some extraordinarily wrong religions), but a matter of one religion being more right than any other.
As a Christian I am, of course, convinced that my faith is the most correct - other people of other faith's will dispute this, but it doesn't change the fact of what I believe.
One thing about Christianity, however, is that given what Jesus taught, he is either lunatic, Lucifer or Lord...it is your choice as to which you will believe about Him; the one thing certain is that you can't do, if you bother to really read what he taught, is think that he was just some moral teacher along the lines of Buddha or Krishna. He's one of those three.
Choose.

Mark,
For the record, I speak for the middle, not the left. I've pulled the lever for Reagan, Bush 1 and many other republicans in my time. I think George Will makes a lot of sense. I dont wear Birkenstocks or eat granola. I own guns, ride a Harley (with no helmet), eat red meat, smoked for 25 years. I've been to Nascar races. I've told politically incorrect jokes.
I also vehemently disagree with the agenda of Bush and the neo-conservatives. I don't hate Bush, but I do think the bar should be a bit higher to be President of the United States, in terms of communcations skill, relevant experience and original ingenuity. He and his cronies represent everything that's bad about the "old-boy" network. Had he not been George H.W. Bush's son, I'm sure he'd be loading trucks somewhere in West Texas.
I'm sure from your radical-right, christian conservative vantage point, I may seem like a pinko lefty, but believe me - I represent the mainstream. You and Mattie boy may think you are "blogging for the majority", but you are really blogging for (a) some radical righties who share your extreme views and (b) some sensible left-center folks who see it as their duty to keep an eye on you folks and counter your right-wing assertions.
Posted by: extramedium at July 28, 2006 04:18 AM
Why is it that I am always hearing this quote about Jesus - "he is either a lunatic, Lucifer or Lord" or some variation thereof? I believe it was from C.S. Lewis originally. Something about Jesus having to be what he says he is or else he is crazy or a liar.
What about this... there might be ANY NUMBER of explanations for Jesus and his miracles etc. etc.
This does not mean that Jesus is a liar, and it ALSO does not mean Christianity is the only answer.
Christianity was NOT the religion that Jesus preached. It is a religion that people MADE UP ABOUT Jesus. Read you theological history, people.
What if WE DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWER YET???
Many Christians assert that the whole thing is ABSOLUTE fact, when it might not be. Were you, Mark, or the resident Bible thumper Jeramiah (a Bible thumper who cannot say even one sentence without mentioning Jesus 100 times - and trying to convert everyone to his belief system) - were you guys around 2000 years ago to know what happened? How do you REALLY know?
As to Christianity being the only true religion - I want NO PART of a religion that CLAIMS it has a loving and caring God, yet that same God would have BILLIONS of people burn in Hell for eternity because they do not agree with Him.
Hmmmm, that sounds like a JEALOUS AND EVIL CONTROLLING GOD to me.
If anyone who does not believe in you is punished forever, that is NOT loving, it is EVIL - WAKE UP people!!
Many people on this planet have answers about the Universe. Open you ears and your HEARTS and listen to one another, instead of condemning people to Hell by saying ARROGANTLY that only you are right.
Isn't one of the worst sins supposed to be Pride?
Maybe many Christians need to realize that....
Posted by: Robert at July 28, 2006 04:34 AM
Robert,
Correct reference - but you really need to think about that.
If I were to step on your toes, then you could forgive me and we'd have no problem. What Jesus did, however, was come here and forgive me for stepping on your toes...this is either wicked, insane, or the work of God. Jesus didn't claim to be a mere teacher, but to be God, Himself, come down to save mankind. Someone like that shows up today then we either want them to see a psychiatrist, or we worry they'll end up being another Jim Jones or David Koresh.
You don't have to believe a word of it, of course, but you can't just say, "Jesus was a teacher"...if he wasn't God, then he taught complete nonsense. Turn the other cheek? Are you kidding? What idiot would do that to a man who had just hit him? Well, Jesus would - and so, too, would any Christian at least try to do that.
As for how do I know? I know just as well as I know there was a Battle of Lepanto, or a guy named Pericles - I know it on the authority of respectable witnesses who recorded the events either at the time, or shortly thereafter. A story, better attested than many accepted easily as fact about events even further back, was told of a man who was born in Palestine about 2,000 years ago who preached a new Gospel and proclaimed himself the saviour of mankind. I have read the story and I believe it to be true - believing it to be true, I had to make a choice...I could either kneel and confess Jesus as my Lord, or reject him. I choose to kneel.
You, too, have heard this story and it comforts you to think that Jesus was just one in a long line of moral teachers. So be it - in time, all will be made completely clear to all of us, and I pray that you and I will be together on that day to laugh about our silly obtuseness of this day.

Sorry, but the hatred comes through...for some reason or other, you have decided to hate President Bush for no reason whatsoever.
President Bush is a center/right politician of extraordinarily political skills, a clear view of how the world works, and the courage to will the means as well as envision the ends. If you think him substandard, then it is a reflection on a very poor ability on your part to see people as they are.

I'm not buying it. I've watched you try to shut down all debate on the merits of Bush by claiming that the left just "hates" him. It's hogwash, and it's lazy analysis. Bush's detractors quite often have legitimate and articulate criticism of his actions and policies. To dismiss it all simply as "hate" is pretty weak.
Posted by: extramedium at July 28, 2006 05:51 AM
Sometimes I think you mistake hatred for frustration Mark. EM's statement that you just shut down debate with a "you hate Bush" repartee. Or some other flippant remark. It is both insensitive and humiliating be be cast aside so simply. That is why I often react with what you describe as meanness. In a way it is the same reaction we get from our leaders. extra,
The only real complaints anyone can have with President Bush are over border security until just recently, and campaign finance reform. Other than that, he's done a remarkably good job, especially considering he's had to work with people who slander him at every turn.
I've yet to see even the first legitimate and articulate criticism of President Bush on the issues which he's most hated on - especially, of course, on the liberation or Iraq. I've never seen such a consistent level of obtuseness in my life when I look at the criticism of our efforts in Iraq and the larger War on Terrorism.
What are the criticisms? That we're fighting for oil, for Israel, for Likud, for Halliburton; that our troops are war criminals; that we're mostly killing innocent civilians; that Bush lied to get us in to Iraq; that Iraq had no WMD; that Iraq had no ties to terrorism; that we've abandoned Afghanistan; that we're making no progress in Iraq; that Iraq is a complete disaster; that the Israeli-Hizbollah battle is because President Bush failed to stop it from happening....extra, these are all mind-bogglingly stupid criticisms entirely divorced from reality. Only idiocy or blind hatred can make anyone hold to them.
Now, I could come up with some intelligent critiques of what the President has done vis a vis the War on Terrorism, but I doubt that the critics of the President would even understand what I was talking about, because they wouldn't be hate-orientated slanders but, instead, a careful after-action analysis of what we might have done differently - and may do differently - in future, similar situations. In other words, I could offer some positive criticism designed to help America.
Posted by: Mark Noonan at July 28, 2006 12:00 PM
Mark,
Come on now. Just because conservative pundits like yourself have declared "Case closed! In your face Liberals!" in countering criticisms such as no WMDs in Iraq, that doesn't make it true. Let me hear Bush or Rummy say we found the WMD's we were looking for in Iraq - not just you and Fox News analysts.
I hardly find those who consider outdated, pre Desert Storm mustard gas rounds NOT to be the WMD's we invaded for to be "entirely divorced from reality". Nor are they guilty of "idiocy" or "blind hatred". This is just your way of framing the debate - cast the opposition as shrill, unhinged, hateful, unreasonable, etc. Like I said, I'm not buying it. And that's just one of your examples of criticism which is, at the very least, still subject to debate.
Posted by: extramedium at July 28, 2006 01:06 PM

Noonan, the Arbiter of What You Can Complain About!
It is funny, though--he wants to hold himself out as a thinker, a man of insight, and yet his primary tactic is to claim that any criticism he personally would not share must, by definition, be illegitimate. Oh, but how he howls when that tactic is used against him! It must be pretty nice to live in a world where anything you don't like can simply be discarded as untrue.

Jeremiah-
Jesus said!! I am the WAY the TRUTH and the LIFE!!
and without him, there is complete chaos!! - jeremiah
I have a question.
In your view please, what is the possiblity for salvation ( meaning entrance into heaven) for Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sihks, Buddhists, etc..etc.. if they never accept Jesus as their personal lord and saviour?
Posted by: Leftorium at July 28, 2006 11:55 PM
Leftorium,
Well, First of all, I take Gods Holy word for what it is, and for us to take His word outside of context is the same as to say that we are using it for our own purpose and would serve to fit our own needs the way we want them to be and not the way Jesus would instruct us too!!
Secondly Salvation - is available to ALL!; according to Gods word, after all, it is the very purpose that Jesus the ONLY ONE came to earth for ALL of mankind!!
Third - You mention the Jews!, Not all Jews are to be considered Christians, Simply because they do not believe, Just the same as they do not believe today, You see!, [Confessing your sins] and [following in His foot-steps] is what makes it possible to become [Saved], During biblical times though, the apostle Paul talks about those in Israel who were in dis-belief!, He wrote - "I speak the truth in Christ--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit--I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. THeirs are the promises. THeirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all. forever praised!".
And if you go on down to verse 6 of chapter 9 in Romans, THERE IS THE KEY, RIGHT THERE! Paul says -- "IT IS NOT THAT GODS WORD HAD FAILED. FOR 'NOT ALL' WHO ARE DESCENDED FROM ISRAEL 'ARE' ISRAEL!!
You see!!
So If you are trying to say that All Jews are heaven bound? I don't think that would be a correct analogy!, Because it takes a willingness to yearn for wanting to know Jesus!, And think about it?, What other man in history of mankind, was conceived in a woman without the aid of a man?!
And that goes on to prove your question about the other religions you stated, Did their gods have the power to conquer the sin of the WHOLE world? Were their gods after being laid in their tomb, able to get up and leave their grave?!
Did their gods able to roll their tombstone away?!
Did their gods provide the love and compassion for their followers the way that Jesus did His?
God the Father of Jesus is the ONLY TRUE GOD!!
Now if you can understand what I am saying I'll put it to you like this:
WHO IS HE THAT COMDEMNS?
"Christ Jesus, who died -- MORE THAN THAT, WHO WAS RAISED TO LIFE--IS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD AND IS ALSO INTERCEDING FOR US!!"
So, to answer you question in easier terms!!
Just keep in mind!, No matter what nationality they are, because Christianity is WORLDWIDE!!, If they believe in Jesus and what He did for them, and they follow Him and Love Him, THEY WILL BE SAVED!!
IF THEY DON'T BECOME SAVED? GOD HAVE MERCY ON THEM ON JUDGEMENT DAY!!
BECAUSE THERE IS [NO OTHER] WHO CAN GET US TO HEAVEN!!
And this is why we are to go and spread the good news about the love of Jesus Christ!!
So that others may convert and be made whole!!
God loves everyone!!, and He wants us to love Him too!, You see!!
Jeremiah
Posted by: Jeremiah at July 29, 2006 02:27 AM
While I find myself moving back to my religious roots as I grow older, I have never strayed from Christianity in general. (Well, there was a foray into reincarnation.) I have always had a problem with dogma, and the insistence of any man claiming to speak for God. But I have always believed that each of us is on the path God set us on, so to me criticizing anyone for his religious beliefs. or lack of same, is like telling God He made a mistake. I'm not arrogant enough to inform God that He screwed up by not making Ash, for example, in MY image.
Jeremiah might ponder for a moment just Who made the Lefties here believe what they do, or don't, believe. Yes, it MIGHT have been the Devil, but it just as well might be part of a divine plan, and while his personal beliefs obviously give him a great deal of comfort, each of us finds God in our own way. Not all are stricken on the road to Damascus, but each of is called in one way or another, and I know of no man who can claim to be so favored by God that he has the only true answer for everyone.
So I do wish we could drop the religious baiting and lecturing here. It's wonderful when someone finds a pathway that comforts him, explains the world to him, and gives him hope, as well as providing an impetus to be a better person. Mark explains many of his political and world views from the persepective of his religious beliefs, and that does not bother me. But lecturing and haranguing people because they have different beliefs, and ridiculing those beliefs, have got to be two of the most futile actions in history.
And it never ever EVER convinces the other side of anything.
Anti-Christianity is not new. But in the United States, the first country in the history of man to be actually FOUNDED on Christian beliefs, it has never risen above the radar. Now, for some reason, it is gaining in strength and become more acceptable. And I find that distressing.
The primary foundation for this new bigotry is the success of the anti-religionists in convincing the public that there really IS a Constitutional demand for "separation of church and state". This is one of those phrases which has been used so much it has become accepted as fact.
Never mind that it simply does not exist within the Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence, or the Bill of Rights. On the contrary, the first article of the Constitution was written specificlaly to GUARANTEE the freedom to worship at will, in freedom. It is based on freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.
The other main plank in the anti-Christian platform is the claim that Christianity somehow poses a threat to the nation as its goal is really political, to control the government. If there is a rise in politico-Christian activity, it precisely because of the anti-Christian activity, which has convinced many Christians that they have to become politically involved merely to PROTECT their Constitutional rights. Were those rights not threatened, I think the level of religios involvement in politics would subside.
When bigotry becomes insitutionalized, it is a serious problem. And religious bigotry is every bit as ugly and insidious as racial bigotry, ethnic bigotry, or any other kind. It is a reflection of the basest instincts of man, the need to select a group to hate and target, and to see it not only encouraged but incorporated into a political platform is very alarming.
It is also a natural and predictable step to take for a movement which is and based on negativism, divisiveness, and directed hatred. And it is this death spiral of loathing, identifying of targets for that loathing (the "rich", Christians, conservatives....) that is generating a new and unpleasant era in American politics.
(Yes, there are conservatives who react to the hatred they receive with bitterness and nastiness. We don't need to detail every single unpleasant word ever uttered by a conservative. Just look at the party leaders and the official determination to substitute not only emotion but negative emotion for philosoophy, ideas, and solutions.)

Jeremiah

Jeremiah: Thank you for proving to me yet again why the religious right scare me.
teenage liberal,
Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?
Jeremiah
TL,
To quote one of your fellow trolls "your easy mac is done"
TL,
I'm sorry that you're scared by the thought of Christianity. You poor thing.
I hit post instead of preview like i wanted to, so in interest of truth, that list came from Senator Bill Frist's website. Just an FYI.
Not afraid of Chirstianity........just afraid of nutjobs(think Robertson and Falwell)trying to shove it down my throat, claiming that Chirstianity is the only way to salvation and you'll burn in hell if you don't convert.
What a load of BS............there is no right or wrong religion, you know.
"It doesn't matter wht faith you believe in, what matters is that you have faith."
-Seredipity, from "Dogma"

That's Christianity 101. Good luck, TL.
TL - sounds like Ann Coulter nailed it with your outlook. Personally, I don't live my life around quotes from Hollywood comedies.
"there is no right or wrong religion"
TL,
Jesus is the ONLY way!!
Why can't you accept that?
Why do you use such things as "BS??? WHY??
Jesus didn't call you "BS"!!!!!!!!!
Do you hate Jesus THAT BAD?
Did you ever think about what christianity means?
It means belief in JESUS they one who died Just for you TL!!
If you mock christians then you mock Jesus too!!!
Ever think about?
AND I WANT TO !!!!ASSURE YOU!!!! N-O O-N-E IS TRYING TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE ANYTHING!!
But after you have been made aware of the fact that Jesus is the only man in the history of mankind who died for you, would you not want to atleast give thanks to him, and want to serve him??
Read the book of ISAIAH chapter 53!!
HE DIED TO BEAR YOUR SORROWS!!SICKNESS AND PAIN!!
You see TL! Jesus He loves you!!
And you know how you feel humiliated and everything!, and then you say to yourself; I don't like these people, I'll just do it my way!!,
Well, you see that's what the devil WANTS YOU TO DO!!, Because he cares NOTHING!! for you, and he wants you to suffer for ETERNITY!!
So, would'nt you feel better to know that you are on the side of the one who loves you? That someone is Jesus ya know!!
Honestly!! Buddy, I feel for ya!:(
And that's why I would like to see you come to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior!!
The blessings for those who seek Him first!!
"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price"
Jeremiah
Anybody else remember "AL FRANKEN KNOCKS DOWN DEAN HECKLER" ?
http://www.neilrogers.com/news/articles/2004012829.html (and others). Assault and battery in defense of DEANS right to free speech? But what about the protesters rights? What about libs doing the shout down thing to conservative speakers across the country?
Self-righteous and VIOLENT. Democrats.
Sounds like Ann Coulter nailed it with your outlook.
That i'm a godless liberal?
This coming from a woman who advocated that all Muslims should be killed, and the remaining survivors should be converted to Christianity?
Yeah, i'm sure Jesus would so proud of her, advocating genocide.
Personally, I don't live my life around quotes from Hollywood comedies.
Neither do I, Kahn. I just liked the quote.

So is all the other religions of the world that don't follow Christ are doomed as well, Freedom1?
This is wht I mean...............THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG RELIGION! All that matters is what you believe.
And Jeremiah...........I hate Jesus that bad. In fact, to hell with em!(Sarcasm off).
"So is all the other religions of the world that don't follow Christ are doomed as well, Freedom1?"-TL
Yes.

Yes. Coulter nailed you as being a godless liberal. The liberal "agenda" is your religion. Hell, you even sacrafice babies to it.
Kahn, you don't know jack squat about me or my beliefs, so take your tranny hero, Coulter, and shove it, pal.

Teenage liberal,
What makes you think that is a joke????????????
Jeremiah
TL - Well, unless you're lying here... Yes I do know what you believe. Go read your posts yourself and figure it out.
“Tranny hero” - good one. Notice it is (once again) a liberal making a gay or gender joke as a slander. You are as incoherent as Vomitorium. So, at the seminar did they teach you to go right into personal attacks as soon as you start feeling intellectually inferior? When are you supposed to change the subject? Or are the two techniques for avoiding meaningful discussion interchangeable?

(Appologies if this shows up like three times)
Another orgy of victimhood. Nice.
We conservatives - good, kind, reasonable. You liberals - evil, mean, unreasonable. The bad liberals are mean to us good conservatives! One goes so far as to compares his daily persecution to the suffering of Jesus. Feels good to wear that thorny crown of martyrdom, doesn't it?
What a bunch of self-righteous crybabies!
TL,
You quote a movie?
Choose.
Extra,
It isn't a persecution thing - its a weariness with dealing with hatred, and a wonder if you on the left will ever let it go...
Mark,
For the record, I speak for the middle, not the left.
Robert,
Correct reference - but you really need to think about that.
So be it - in time, all will be made completely clear to all of us, and I pray that you and I will be together on that day to laugh about our silly obtuseness of this day.
extra,
Sorry, but the hatred comes through...for some reason or other, you have decided to hate President Bush for no reason whatsoever.
President Bush is a center/right politician of extraordinarily political skills, a clear view of how the world works, and the courage to will the means as well as envision the ends. If you think him substandard, then it is a reflection on a very poor ability on your part to see people as they are.
Mark,
I'm sorry - where do you read hatred in any of my posts about Bush? Is criticism hatred? Do my words seem to seeth? Have I wish him to be damned or killed?
I'm not buying it. I've watched you try to shut down all debate on the merits of Bush by claiming that the left just "hates" him. It's hogwash, and it's lazy analysis. Bush's detractors quite often have legitimate and articulate criticism of his actions and policies. To dismiss it all simply as "hate" is pretty weak.
They are so unresponsive and dead set on an agenda they have had in the oven for years that frankly we feel helpless........continuing
extra,
The only real complaints anyone can have with President Bush are over border security until just recently, and campaign finance reform.
Mark,
Come on now.
Game, set, and match for extramedium.
Hell, look at Noonan's followup:
The only real complaints anyone can have with President Bush are over border security until just recently, and campaign finance reform.
Leftorium,
Well, First of all, I take Gods Holy word for what it is, and for us to take His word outside of context is the same as to say that we are using it for our own purpose and would serve to fit our own needs the way we want them to be and not the way Jesus would instruct us too!!
Jeremiah
