Some Good Reading Material

Some of you may know I like to read a lot, and I've gotten a decent amount of reading done recently. While I mostly read non-fiction, I did get into a novel called Direct Action by John Weisman, which just came out in paperback. While the story is fiction, there is plenty of non-fiction in the pages about how the intelligence community operates. According to the book, as a result the Clinton years, the CIA had not only become a dysfunctional organization, but has had to "outsource" much of its war on terror. It's a good story, that you can learn a lot from.

Also in the mail I recently got Only in America: From Immigrant to CEO, by Paul Oreffice. Oreffice fled Fascist Italy as child, came to America, and worked his way up to becoming the CEO of one of America's largest corporations. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I look forward to starting it this weekend.

The CIA analysts are moving to DIA under Plame's old boss, but there is no real word on the Dirctorate of Operations- where Plame came from - and there is already consern that Hayden 'saving' the CIA is a mistake.

Farming out was always done, they use military, but the ability to do work is not there.

On my reading list is John Dean's new book. Conservatives Without Conscience: Yummie

Isn't "after the Clinton years, the CIA has not only become a dysfunctional organization, but has had to outsource much of its war on terror" technically the same as "during the Bush years, the CIA has not only become a dysfunctional organization, but has had to "outsource" much of its war on terror"?

Are you saying GW has outsourced the war on terror? Are you saying that after a covert CIA agent was outed for petty revenge, the rest of the seasoned professional CIA agents said "heck with you, GeeDub, we're outa here"?

I thought you said this book was fiction. Sounds about right to me...

Ash- Yeah-saw John Dean on The Daily Show. Dean of course, is a Goldwater conservative, but even he is alarmed by the authoritarian, conscienceless
Conservatives of today! Amazingly, he seems almost liberal in comparison. Enjoy the book!

congressive, I'm sure you know the intent of the language, but just for you, I've revised the statement to better reflect the true meaning that the CIA had deteriorated under the Clinton years.. which, even you have to admit did happen.

Remember the Good Old Day when Ashinine stomped off in a huff, swearing/promising to never return? Something just chapped his ash and he said we could all just kiss his ash because he was hauling ash out of here.

Turns out, evidently, that he's too ashinine even for the ashes over on the other side, so his self-imposed removal of his ash to what he obviously thought would be more hospitiable blogs only lasted a day or so. Then he hauled his ash back over here, where we all thought that he was, quite frankly, a horse's ash.

And ideas on how we can get those other blogs to lower their standards even more, to accept a braying ash and distract him from the grown-ups' side?

And obsessive still hasn't gotten over the fact that we elected a president who didn't find it neccessary to do a Jar-Jar Binks when he heard bad news---or simply go catatonic, as Kerry admittedly did? (The thing about Kerry becoming catatonic is that no one noticed.)

But clearly obsessive and Osama are on the same page regarding the book Bush was reading to those nice young children, who were facing enough trauma in the days ahead without their President leaping to his feet and dashing out of the room in a tizzy. ("Tizzy" = Liberal response to nearly everything.)

That all you got, boys? Flight suits, kids' book, and big ears? Ooooohhhhh---we're shaking in our boots. By the way, guys---BUSH AIN'T RUNNING!!! When will you stop trying to convince us not to vote for him?
