Oh c'mon, media bias from that weak reason? Bias exists everywhere, but you're stretching here.
An execution is more about the death of an unarmed man by someone with a "purpose." Whether by a state or otherwise.
It gets more amazing every day - this desire on the part of the MSM to be anti-Bush even if it makes them appear quite obtuse.
So now it's about Bush instead of the Palestinians or Israelis?

I do hope president Bush will have the courage to take a stand for Israel. Israel is our most important ally and is the greatest and most free country in the middle east and perhaps in the world. Israel is also the most important buffer between the western world and the terrrorists who wish to destroy us all. Frankly this President's record concerning Israel has been atrocious at times. More often than not this administration's actions have ranged between pro-Palestinian to treating the Palestinians and the Israelis as equals. The greatest most free state in the middle east who is our most important ally in the war against Islamic Extremist terrorists cannot be treated as equal to a band of terrorists thugs. This is no way to win this war for our survival and it must be changed. The president may get a chance to get this right. We should hope and pray that he does.
What also should be abundantly clear is the media's utter disdain for Israel. The media will not support Israel, so it should not surprise us that they have trouble supporting attempts, misguided as they may be, to bring liberty to Iraq.

even more bizarre, reverse the headline.
"hamas leaders executed, israeli arrested".

Now we see the real TEO. He's/she's anti-Semetic. He/she has gone through the entire list of UN Resolutions and dug up every resolution with the least bit of slat against Israel, regardless of how obscure and outdated the resolution.
Now we understand why he so opposes our efforts to bring democracy to the Middle East. If we are successful, the survival of the Jewish state is secure. If we fail, Israel is in jeopardy of being "run into the sea", by Arabs, Muslims, and the Palistinians.
He/she has sided with the terrorists against the only western democracy in the Middle East - Israel.

Bias is a common practice. That was a frail exhibit of it. Execution has a negative connotation regardless of the events preceding so that particular vocabulary does not undermine the act. If you wish to pull dirt on the media, scrutinize their fanatical approach to Bush’s fluctuating poll numbers. In fact, by withdrawing their whole arsenal of colorful vocabulary to detail the malicious attack, wouldn’t that heighten Bush disapproval? Their mission is to protect and yet civilians are dropping like flies squirting three pints of blood on the descend. He was, need I note, shot in the head. Classic execution style. So the word fits. Please torch down another alley. This one isn’t cutting it.

So, Ash, are you also anti-Semetic? You don't agree that western democracies aren't worth defending? We shouldn't support one of our strongest allies?
As I told TEO on another thread, and it goes for you as well:
"I would invite you to take your liberal, anti-American a** and move somewhere where your enlightened views of America and Americans can be appreciated. May I suggest Cuba - I hear Havana is lovely this time of year. Or maybe North Korea - they share your feelings for the US. Or perhaps Venezuela - I understand Chavez is gearing up for a confrontation with the US. Perhaps you could get a gig as an advisor."

A-10,
A real democratic nation wouldn't need thie big brother to use their veto power to avoid THE REST OF THE WORLD condemning them for occupying lands for 40 years, and relegating the palestinian people to subjugation and poverty.
I denounce violence of any kind, the PLO/Hamas organisations are terrorists, and vile ones at that, their condoning of innocent death is beyond morally reprehensible...but the IDF is in the same boat, i don't know how you can react to a 30 year old rocket, fired into a field, as worthy of a missle strike which kills familes out for a picnic.
Posted by: Third Eye Open at June 29, 2006 11:29 AM
If the full brunt of the UN resolutions were forced on Israel, this would likely lead to the extermination of the state of Israel. The UN does not have the interests of democratic nations at heart.
Ash
No we did not invade Iraq to help Israel, however, A-10 does raise a good point. Israe, who is one of our strongest allies and is a pro-Western democracy is worth defending. The record of the Bush administration regarding Israel has been spotty at best. Standard operating procedure has been to generally treat the Palestinians and the Israelis as equal. The bitter fruit of this policy has been to strengthen the Palestinians, a major enemy of the US, and to weaken our ally, Israel.

A-10
You can't like Palestinians and hate Jews, and still be anti-Semetic, they are both Semetic people.
A democracy shouldn't allow its defense forces to recklessly retaliate to 30 year old rockets landing in fields, with artillary strikes which kill innocent familes.
Posted by: Third Eye Open at June 29, 2006 11:52 AM
OK, you just hate Jews. Is that better.
Posted by: A-10 at June 29, 2006 02:14 PM
TEO: There is some dispute on the aspects of the rocket that hit the Palestinian beach. The Palestinians won't allow a full investigation. Of course the media can be counted to do two things and do them well. 1.) While maybe not being active marxists they are sympathetic to them. As such, they are generally sympathetic to marxist talking points. 2.)They generally have a subtle Palestinian bias.
The UN is often times unsympathetic to Democrtatic countries besides the Arabs have managed to use the oil weapon quite effectively. If the Palestinians would work toward building a nation instead of trying to destroy Israel they would not be living in poverty.
Posted by: B.Poster at June 29, 2006 02:49 PM
B.
Isreal already apologized for the incident, I don't know what other kind of spin the "media" can put on it, an artillary barrage went astray and killed innocent people, thats it.
You are getting a bit kooky if you think the whole world has some sort of "marxist bias", every nation other than the US has condemned Israel for their actions. Israel controls the infrastructure, trade, and fiscal wellbeing of the Palestinians, Palestine has no chance of self-determination, that is why we are their only friend. The palestinians have a legitimate gripe, their lands are still occupied by Israel, their water rights are in dispute, and they can't have an economy since Israel controls the levers of free-flow of goods and services; so basically unless the Palestinians "give-up" and hope that they can negotiate these things which belong to them at a later time, then what else can they do?
Posted by: Third Eye Open at June 29, 2006 03:09 PM
A-10,
I hate institutions who kill innocent civilians, that includes PLO/Hamas and IDF.
Hating Jews is counter-productive since 90% of us probably have Jewish lineage somewhere in our family trees.
Posted by: Third Eye Open at June 29, 2006 03:12 PM
TEO: Israel's leaders apologize for everything. I'm not very impressed with them or America's leaders for that matter. Israel is in a fight for its survival. When you factor in the numerous allies the Palestinians have they are far more powerful than Israel. israel fought to defend itself. A rocket may have gone astray. Israel apologized. The Palestinians deliberately blow up civilians and it is celebrated. The Palestinians can count on their allies to suppor them all the time. American support for Israel is quite timid. As such, the Palestinians control the upper hand in the negotiation. The problem is their demands are unreasonable. If they would make a reasonable effort to negotiate, we would have peace. The notion that the Palestinians are some weak defenseless people is degrading to Israel. Israel is in a fight for its continued existence. The Palestinians face no such threat. Israel is ready and willing to make peace. No where is media bias more evident than in the coverage of the Arab Israeli war. To force these resolutions on Israel would result in the extermination of the state of Israel.
I suggested the media leans to the left. As such, they are often sympathetic to Marxists talking points. Chinese and Russians communist leaders have stated that they think to destroy the West that they need to destroy Christianity. The favorite target for the msm is Evangelical Christians. I may have over stated my point, but I find nothing kooky in it.
Posted by: B.Poster at June 29, 2006 04:29 PM
The leaders of the quasi nation state known as Palesstine, once threatened to "raise the flag of Islam over the environs of the universe." If this were not such a serious threat, the media love affair with these people would be most entertaining. They understand that their is a certain amount of leverage one gains in western countries by playing like one is a victim. They know how to manipulate the media. Their con games are worthy of a Russian. Russia is their chief ally. This is probably no accident. Its not hard to understand why Israel got hit with a rocket. The US along with other western nations has played a large role in Israel's decision to cede territory to a blood thirsty enemy who seeks their destruction and is capable of pulling it off. When one makes concessions to a mortal enemy, this only strengthens this enemy. This is especially so when the allies of these Palestinians are factored in. Far from being an entity with legitmate gripes, the Palestinians are a mortal threat to Israel's continued existence. Until they cease with the threats, Israel has no choice but to deal with them as the threat to Israel's continued existence that they are.

TEO,
No offense, but after reading some of your posts above I had to go throw up. You've got the Israel/ "Palestinian" conflict completely backwards. Here's the truth: Israel is a pro-Western democracy. The "Palestinians" are a de-facto Islamic terrorist state who just elected the Muslim terrorists Hamas whose stated goal is the elimination of Israel.

Third Eye Open,
From Hamas' Charter:
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."
"The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "
"There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."
Hamas is an Islamic terrorist organization that the majority of the Palestinian "children" voted for in a democratic election. Save your moral equivalence arguments for someone as uninformed as you are. Pathetic.
Posted by: Freedom1 at June 29, 2006 11:46 PM
Hamas does not play with spit balls. This is a very powerful organization. Plaestinian leaders have admited to being a part of world wide jihad. This enemy should be treated as a very powerful enemy who is capable of tremendous damage. This is no mere child.

B.,
You're off your friggin rocker, can you show me some evidence that Russias supports Hamas?
Russias supports a Palestinian state, like most nations do, but Hamas is linked with Chechen rebels, which are in a bloody war with Russia, so how exactly do they support them?
Man, check your sources here, I think you're just making half this stuff up.
Posted by: Third Eye Open at June 30, 2006 09:00 AM
TEO: Whether the relations between Russia and the terrorists are deep and strong relations or if they are loose relations based on current interests I can't say for certain. Iran provides active support for all of the terrorists. Russia provides active support for Iran. They clearly know what they are doing. Russia has has been the chief military supplier of the "Palestinians." They are trying to supply Syria with rockets that would severly hamper the ability of Israel's air force to operate. I'm not sure if these transfers of the rockets went through. the US and Israel were opposed to this becuase Syria supports terrorists and it seems likely these weapons would make it into the hands of terrorists. Russia actively supports North Korea. Iran is North Korea's biggest customer. Since the 1980s Russia has worked hard to infiltrate anti-Russian groups, such as Al Qaeda. Russian intellegence defector Alexander Litvinenko has stated that Ayman a-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's number 2 man is a Russian agent. I cannot say if this is true. Also, some reports have indicated that Al Qaeda has recruited Russian spetznaz. Again, I do not know if this is true. Given Russian duplicity, I would be hesitant to casuallay dismiss this. I think the situation in Chechnya provides a convenient reason for Russia to mobilize their armed forces. The situation in Chechnya has been described by at least one witness as "one big Abu Ghraib." The relations between Russia and the terrorists states could be simply loose affiliations based on perceived current interests or it could be something much deeper. At a minimum we need to take actions to try and persuade Russia not to support these people in any way shape or form. Russia did have some of their people killed recently. Hopefully this will cause them to re evaluate the situation. I think international relations are often based on based on a cost benefit analysis. As long as they are receiveing some type of assistance from the Russians the terrorist states are much more dangerous than they would be other wise. Admittedly what we can learn from defectors or eye witnesses is limited. Also it should be pointed out that Yessar Arafat and Abu Mazen were trained in Russia. I may be over estimating the situation but I am not making it up and I do not think I am off my rocker to point this out.

So let's see if I have this all right. You hate Jews. You support the Palistinians and terrorists. And you don't think that there is a moral equivalence between a western democracy trying to defend itself against a movement which has vowed their destruction and a terrorism-based movement which exists only to attempt to destroy Israel.
IMO Israel has exhibited exceptional patience and restrain in dealing with the Palistinians/terrorists. If they so choose, they could wipe them off the face of the earth. And nothing Allah, the nations of Islam, or the combined Arab countries could stop them.
I do not understand your hatred for Israel and Jews (which you have not denied). The Jews have lived there for over 3,000 years. They were almost wiped out during the Holocaust (which you probably deny occurred) by the Nazis. They were given rights to their land by the 1947 UN Partition Plan. They have been attacked by Arabs, Muslims, and terrorists ever since. They are the only western democracy in the Middle East.
I could support the Palistinian cause if they would spend more time improving their lot and embracing freedom, instead of trying to destroy Israel and the Jews. I guess its jsut part of the genetic makeup of the Arab/Mulsim. Either that, or the brainwashing Islam has conducted on many in the Middle East. If the Israelis can exist and thrive on what little territory they possess, why can't the Palistinians?

A-10, yeah. People like TEO are so far gone even when you explain that the Hamas government is a terrorist organization dedicated to wiping out Israel and that a majority of the "Palestinian" people voted for Hamas terrorists, they still don't get it. Good grief.

Oh c'mon, media bias from that weak reason? Bias exists everywhere, but you're stretching here.
An execution is more about the death of an unarmed man by someone with a "purpose." Whether by a state or otherwise.
So now it's about Bush instead of the Palestinians or Israelis?
It's only the UN, who cares what those guys think:
* Resolution 106: " . . . 'condemns' Israel for Gaza raid".

Nearly 3500 Palestinian civilians dead since 2000...but who cares about that?
http://www.btselem.org/English/Statistics/Casualties.asp
"hamas leaders executed, israeli arrested".
the msm would never write such...
Now we understand why he so opposes our efforts to bring democracy to the Middle East. If we are successful, the survival of the Jewish state is secure.
Convesely we have gained great insight as to why we invaded Iraq.
OK, you just hate Jews. Is that better.
A-10,
I hate institutions who kill innocent civilians, that includes PLO/Hamas and IDF.
Hating Jews is counter-productive since 90% of us probably have Jewish lineage somewhere in our family trees.
As for MSM bias, what Mark posted was just one of hundreds and hundreds of anti-Israeli/pro-Palestinian media bias. Check it out for yourself. Click the link below for the full story-

Freedom,
Believe whatever you want, it must be the rest of the world that is wrong, not you.
The war with Palestine will end, when ISrael wants it to end, until then, it's just two children hitting eachother, tit-for-tat, one of those kids has a baseball bat, and the other has spit-balls.
Pathetic.
Hamas does not play with spit balls. This is a very powerful organization. Plaestinian leaders have admited to being a part of world wide jihad. This enemy should be treated as a very powerful enemy who is capable of tremendous damage. This is no mere child.
Hey guys, when one group is fighting with bomb-belts and 30 year old rockets made from melted down trashcans, and the other group has state of the art tanks, warplanes, artillary, satellites, and nuclear weapons, there is no moral equivalence, it is mearly out-gunning a repressed people who can't even feed themselves without international support.
So save your BS for one of your ditto-heads, Pathetic!
B.,
You're off your friggin rocker, can you show me some evidence that Russias supports Hamas?
Russias supports a Palestinian state, like most nations do, but Hamas is linked with Chechen rebels, which are in a bloody war with Russia, so how exactly do they support them?
Man, check your sources here, I think you're just making half this stuff up.
TEO,
"Hey guys, when one group is fighting with bomb-belts and 30 year old rockets made from melted down trashcans, and the other group has state of the art tanks, warplanes, artillary, satellites, and nuclear weapons, there is no moral equivalence, it is mearly out-gunning a repressed people who can't even feed themselves without international support."
So, Ash, are you also anti-Semetic?
No. I am for being honest and straight forward. "Some of my best friends are Jewish" I worked for a Jewish Newspaper. And I will tell you many within the Jewish community here feel that Israel is too militant
