It is a risky move, and dangerous - but they are our allies in the War on Terrorism, so my prayers are with the soldiers of the IDF who have gone in to battle in the Gaza:
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- Israeli tanks and troops entered southern Gaza and planes attacked three bridges and knocked out electricity to the coastal strip early Wednesday, stepping up the pressure on Palestinian militants holding captive a 19-year-old Israeli soldier.
The soldiers and tanks began taking up positions in two locations about a mile east of the Gaza town of Rafah under the cover of tank shells, according to witnesses and Palestinian security officials. Palestinians dug in behind walls and sand embankments, bracing for a major Israeli offensive.
When barbarians take civilised soldiers captive, this is the only response we can give: give him back, or die. There is no negotiations, there is no way to shake hands with the savages who make up the terrorist groups. We hope the captive soldier is returned alive, but we must know that the terrorists will pay a heavy price, come what may.

Talk about “self destruct mode”! Why would someone poke a stick in a hive of killer bees as though you’re going to show the bees who’s boss? Why would someone splash blood on themselves and then swim with the sharks as though you’re going to show the sharks who’s in charge? Why would someone kidnap a single soldier and risk significant destruction and death while pretending to negotiate as though you intend to formulate a (fictitious) peace plan? Do they believe they have any sort of upper hand?
The sad part is the Palestinians fail to see what they’re really destroying – themselves. Are they so rapped up into hate that they cannot see this? Apparently so.

When I first heard about this, I wondered if it was a good thing. If the IDF accidently kills civilians, what is going to stop the terrorists from killing the soldier in retaliation? It's a very risky move.

It's high time. The Palestinians keep firing rockets into Israel killing Israeli civilians. Now, these Muslim terrorists are kidnapping Israelis-a young soldier and an 18 year old civilian. God speed Israel!

"Palestinians threaten chemical and biological weapons attacks against Israel"
Jerusalem Post: The Aksa Martyrs Brigades announced on Sunday that its members have succeeded in manufacturing chemical and biological weapons.
In a leaflet distributed in the Gaza Strip, the group, which belongs to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah Party, said the weapons were the result of a three-year effort.
According to the statement, the first of its kind, the group has managed to manufacture and develop at least 20 different types of biological and chemical weapons.
The group said its members would not hesitate to add the new weapons to Kassam rockets that are being fired at Israeli communities almost every day. It also threatened to use the weapons against IDF soldiers if Israel carried out its threats to invade the Gaza Strip.
“We want to tell [Prime Minister Ehud] Olmert and [Defense Minister Amir] Peretz that your threats don’t frighten us,” the leaflet said.
“We will surprise you with our new weapons the moment the first soldier sets foot in the Gaza Strip.”

Yeah, they manufactured them by shipping them to Palestine from Iraq.

I submitted a variation of this post earlier. Twice!! But it does not show. If multiple posts should show up, please accept my apologies. This thread is supposed to be about the Israeli military actions. If this is off topic, please accept my apologies. The US invaded Afghanistan and Iraq to eliminate terrorist supporting governments. Good people can and do question the wisdom of both of these decisions. I have my own doubts, however, I do understand the logic. What makes no sense to me is we invade the two countries mentioned above to eliminate terrorist supporting states but then we push for a state of "Palesine". I think any reasonable person knows this state would be a terrorist state. Then, if this is not enough, Israel unilaterally cedes land to same terrorists. American influence probably played a large role here. In effect we invaded two terrorist supporting states to eliminate terrorism yet we have created a de facto state of "Palesitne" who is a terror supporting state. We made no attempt to stop the de facto creation of this state. It amkes no sense to me to attempt to eliminate two terrorist supporting governments while actively working to create another one. Perhaps I'm missing something here. Could someone please explain this?
