A Good Week For Bush, A Bad Week For The Democrats

It has been a very good week for President Bush and the Republicans, and an equally bad week for Democrats.

The Democrats have up until now, banked their victory in November with their criticism of the so-called Republican "culture of corruption." It was this strategy, that convinced Harry Reid that the Democrats had a shot of winning back the Senate in 2006, when he previously said it would take a miracle. But, last month, the New York Times reported that their "culture of corruption" was losing it's muscle, and now they've decided to abandon it completely. Democrats have also just voted to strip Rep. William Jefferson of his powerful committee assignment, an act of damage control.

Yet all the libs here parroted that "Culture of Corruption" mantra like it was hardwired into their circuitry.

They abadoned it because it was absurd and because it pointed out the hypocrisy of their party.

I can't wait to see how they define themselves.

CA-50 doomed the culture of coruption, if it doesn't work there, it doesn't work. The how can we fool them today party needs another gambit.

Posted by: bill at June 15, 2006 09:52 PM

I hope this is a trend that carries through the next 145 days.

The how can we fool them today party needs another gambit.

They are in somewhat of a quandary, aren't they Bill? Unfortunately their playbook has been pretty much cast in stone for the last 70+ years. If they campaign on what they really believe, only the frootloops on the extreme Left will vote for them, and, if they continue to try to disguise who and what they are, they pick up some independents but lose the moveon.org types who are rapidly becoming their core base. It's just really gotta suck to be a Liberal Democrat.

Draft Senator Jeff Sessions 2008. NOW

Posted by: darraugh at June 15, 2006 11:42 PM

Hey, you are entitled to a single week of good news in the faceofthe past 5 years of back to back BAD news.

The democratic policy was to simply allow you republicans to shoot yourselves in the foot over and over again, so as to say to the voters "Had enough yet?"

-- Its worked flawlessly, your president in the low 30's, the GOP congress in the low, low 20's for approval.

Now, we just need to go into offensive and showing that we are a very viable and responsible alternative and then you will be vanquished into congressional obscurity for another 5 decades just like you were prior to 1994.!!

Even your base, the fundamental christians have lost faith in the Republicans. Some are going to be staying home, others are coming over to the democratic side of the fence. Add to this a new religious left movement and it seals your fate.

The house is virtually a lock for the democrats, and they have a serious chance at serious gains in the Senate as well. The house is the most important however as it will allow full investigations and impeachment.

Tick Tock, tick tock, yours days are numbered...

"Tick Tock, tick tock, yours days are numbered..."

Damn its going to be funny watching you cry/whine/spin in November.

And its going to be funnier watching you all go "oh my god, Nooooooo, how did this happen?"

(Hey, you are entitled to a single week of good news in the faceofthe past 5 years of back to back BAD news.)

Tis amazing how for a smart liberal you, Axis, have need of explaining every time we turn a corner! Do you realize that all the great news of this week would not be as big a deal if it were not for the continual lying, exaggerating, whining, and complaining of the liberal kook left! Unfortunately, we patriots(you know, the ones willing to put their necks on the line) must make a big deal out of the more prominent victories since you and your main stream buddies love to ignore the day to day victories!

(The democratic policy was to simply allow you republicans to shoot yourselves in the foot over and over again, so as to say to the voters "Had enough yet?")

I love it! You are a blind ignoramous. Don't you see the dimwit dems shooting themselves in the balls every time they turn around. Running on the "culture of corruption" like they are the perfect party or something, what a bunch of dumbarses! Running on the incompetence of the Bush admin. in regards to the war, when it was just a matter of time before things began to LOOK noticably better! Idiots! Running on a deficit when anyone with half a brain knows that war, hurricanes, and all the social programs we support cost alot of money(not that that is an excuse, but you guys in REALITY are 1/2 the problem there if not 3/4 the problem). The economy has been roaring for three years, even with high gas prices middle America goes on grand vacations and own more toys than they know what to do with. You guys should stick to running on abortion, gay rights, universal health care, saving the trees and the whales! At least we really know where you all stand on those issues. All the other issues prove you all to be fakes time & time again!!!

(-- Its worked flawlessly, your president in the low 30's, the GOP congress in the low, low 20's for approval.)

That would be up to 40% now, not that a frickin poll could tell you a gosh darn thing anyways! You dems and your polls, you'll live by them and most certainlt DIE by them! To bad for you!!! RE: California primary if you want proof that polls don't mean sh..!

Bwahahahahaaaaahaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa!!! I hope your in for the long haul Axis, cause that's what it's gonna be, a really long haul!

Bwahahahaaaahahaaaaahaaaaaaa! Once again Axis, you have me in stitches, my stomach is beginning to ache! You obviously don't know to many " Fundemental christians", we F'n christian here in the sunny socialist republic of California are fired up and more determined than ever not to let the democrats have even an ounce more power! For some reason Michael Moore, George Soros, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, & Hillary Clinton seem a bit more scary than the cowboys in office now! Oh yah, and the whole religious left movement, bwahahahaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa, you just killin me man. That's the funniest thing I've heard in awhile!

You just keep telling yourself that Axis, it's good to be optimistic, although highly uncharacteristic of a liberal, I'm proud of you! By the way Axis, are you one of our canadian friends, and if so were you one of those that promised to move to canada if G.B. won again? If so I can understand your optimism! Sweet dreams!!!!

Why does Axis keep saying "WE" in his posts. He's Canadian, he's not American. This is an American election, not a Canadian.

He's a strange bird to be sure. Killed any seals lately Axis? 350,000 in 2005...terrible brutality by those Canadians. Terrible!!

5 years of bad news axis? I'd say we had some pretty good news in 2004. As far as being a viable alternative, don't you think its a little late to come up with a platform, I mean, is it really that hard to figure out what you stand for other than anything against Bush. Never mention the fact that he is not running this year or in 2008.

Posted by: Rich at June 16, 2006 08:52 AM

dl, it's always nice to start off the morning with a good laugh. As Rush says, the Libs are the most humorous when they're out of power.

axis, a few questions. I remember that you have dual citizenship. Are you living in Canada now? Why did you move to Canada and become a citizen? If your living in Canada and have citizenship there why do you care anymore about politics in the US?

-- I was born here in Canada, have U.S. parents so that entitled me to dual citizenship. Bush is out of control and bad for the world, not just the U.S., also if he takes the U.S. economy down as he is doing, everyone suffers.

I know the Canadains hate the seal hunts. But
they not only kill the baby Harps seals. They
skin them alive as young as 8 weeks old. Why
do you allow it to go on?

Posted by: darraugh at June 16, 2006 11:35 AM

axis first off thanks for answering. But you did not answer my third question, being that you are in essence a Canadian why do you care about US politics? Is it because of your parents? Being that you are Canadian why should we care at all about your opinion? I no longer care. I think it is very presumptuous of you to nose into affairs that are not yours. Don’t tell us that you have a “right” to because your parents are from the US. That would be like me nosing into Norwegian politics because my father is Norwegian. I think you should be banned from this blog simply because you are a Canadian nosing into American politics. Yes I am angry and don’t be condescending about that either.

I answered your third question

"Bush is out of control and bad for the world, not just the U.S., also if he takes the U.S. economy down as he is doing, everyone suffers."

Ah, now I see your answer, thanks.

Posted by: Keep to the Right [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 16, 2006 04:17 PM

Warrior- Now if you've been following the events surrounding William Jefferson, it was Nancy Pelosi's initiative to remove him from the House Ways & Means Committee. She took a lot of heat from the Congressional Black Caucus, who accused her of racism. I'm proud of her and my party today for doing the right thing, and punishing a corrupt politician. The Republicans, on the other hand, prefer to ignore corruption in their own party. They passed an ethics bill with no teeth, just for political theater. So looks like they are the "Culture of Corruption" Tho I guess Delay's arrangement with the K Street lobbyists was pretty sweet for them while it lasted.

Posted by: kritter [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 16, 2006 06:11 PM

kritter...I'm not a Republican and I really could care less with what they do with their congressmen, Senators, etc.

Last I checked, however, Delay is moving on. I'm old enough to remember Bill Clinton, Dan Rostenkowski, Alan Cranston, Michael Myers, Charles Diggs, Mario Biaggi, Mel Reynolds, Walter Tucker, James Trafficant, etc, etc.

Most of these guys ended up in PRISON (not all, most) and all are Democrats all in the last 20 years.

Look, I think it's great what Pelosi did but please, I didn't get on the turnip truck today. The hypocrisy of their culture of corruption charges is absolutely laughable to anyone that has a brain.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 16, 2006 08:28 PM

Warrior- Calling me brainless are you? None of the Democrats you mentioned are still serving. You conveniently forgot to mention Duke Cunningham, Republican, who is currently serving time for bribery.Newt Gingrich left after ethical conflicts. Richard Nixon also broke the law as did his V.P. Spiro Agnew. Delay left to deal with his legal problems.

I'm not saying only Republicans can become corrupted, I'm saying power corrupts, and the Republicans have used their time in office to consolidate their power, take trips corporate-funded trips, and cozy up to lobbyists, who in turn run fundraisers for them, and not to advance the conservative agenda that they were sent to Washington to advance. What Pelosi did today set a higher standard for congressional behavior, and I was glad to see it.

Posted by: kritter [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 16, 2006 11:17 PM

Kritter...are you kidding me? Because they are not serving right now that somehow absolves them? Good Lord. A crime is a crime.

But oh by the way, James Trafficant is still in prison and not due to be released until 2010 as he serves an Eight Year term.

Oh those pesky facts.

Why should I mention Cunningham? My point was never that the GOP doesn't have corrupt individuals. My point was that for the Democrats to talk of a Culture of Corruption is absolutely the most absurd and hypocritical argument they could possibly make.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 16, 2006 11:45 PM

There IS a culture of corruption in congress, Republicans have the lions share of it, but there is also corruption on the democratic side of the fence.

This is why congress should be completely flushed out to get rid of all the bad weeds
