Senator Charles Grassley believes that Treasury Secretary nominee Henry Paulson Jr. could be confirmed before the 4th of July recess. At this point, I can't imagine why not, but then again, the Democrats have been known to block anyone for anything, no matter how ridiculous.

I don't know any Democrats that are objecting to Paulson. He's not who we would have picked, but there's nothing that i can see that justifies fighting the nomination.

Democrats are somewhat ok with this nomination. Paulson is pro-Kyoto and a raging environmentalist.
He seems to have padded his own pockets at FannieMae, but that might just give a little leverage to keep him honest in the future. Any nominee needs to undergo a full examination before being handed the public trust.
