God bless Casey Sheehan. He's a true American hero. RIP.

A burial is for the family's rememberance of a lost loved one, not your political fodder.

"A burial is for the family's rememberance of a lost loved one, not your political fodder."
Tell that to his mother.

Tell that to his mother.

Nonsense. She has every right to speak her mind. It's her detractors who tried to make a political issue of her son's burial, not Cindy Sheehan herself.

Posted by: winnowhead [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 2, 2006 09:40 PM

winnow,

she's the one who made a political issue of her son's death.. and exploited it as such for political purposes...

Posted by: KCJ at June 2, 2006 10:21 PM

I'm sorry he died. I'm glad he decided to serve - and even re-enlisted to go back to Iraq. A hero.

I'm sad his mother went insane.

Though I support Cindy Sheehan's right to speak her mind, I support even more my right not to listen to her monotonous babbling.

Posted by: Georgia Frawg [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 3, 2006 12:22 AM

Personally, I dont see an issue with her speaking her mind, she got her 15 minutes, and used it to the end she thought was most productive. We don't sneer at people who use their insta-fame to try and enact social change, for instance, MADD or that little girls family who got federal guidlines passed for more stringent predator enforcement and notification. I think the issue is the right doesnt like what she is saying with her megaphone.

Personally, I dont pay much attention to these kinda folks, let her protest all she wants, if you dont like her, ignore her, simple enough, in 10 years she will be a paragraph on wikipedia and an inside political joke...hopefully by then we wont have anymore Casey Sheehans dying in a sandbox half-way cross the globe.

Its good to see it happen. Its too bad that the president was not man enough to meet with her and talk like she asked. She gave he sons life for this illegal war and she just wanted to meet him and ask him why it had to happen. He was too afraid and had to hide in his ranch while she was 100 yards away outside. What a coward president Bush is.

Posted by: axis [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 3, 2006 01:16 AM

axis-

Was it Bush's fault that she didn't get a grave marker for her son's grave?

Posted by: Georgia Frawg [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 3, 2006 08:29 AM

Not that I'm aware of.

Posted by: axis [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 3, 2006 09:42 AM

Correction, the father got the headstone.

Dont you mean he did'nt see her a second time. He did meet with her and she is on record after that orginal meeting saying how wonderful and sincere President Bush is and was. I'm always amazed at how facts are 'remembered' by the left.

ohio,

That was before it became clear that bush lied to get america into a war.

Posted by: axis [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 4, 2006 12:03 AM

Axis,

You conveniently forget that President Bush DID meet with her. It was a second meeting that she wanted, to publisize her newly found agenda, and capitalize on her personal 15 minutes of fame.

Posted by: phnxbmed at June 4, 2006 07:13 AM

poor sad silly axis, still whingeing away at his old worn-out and totally false talking points. But I'll bet he is a hero among his pizza-faced loser geek crowd, hanging out in some mom's basement high-fiving each other when they "score" on us conservatives. (The only scoring they are ever likely to do, however...)

Cindy Sheehan did not rear her son Casey. He was brought up by his father and stepmother. Cindy played a very small role in his life till he died, and even then she had to become a gullible recruit of the Left to turn on her son's memory and do her darndest to make sure his death was meaningless. Her so-called desire to speak for a second time with the President was just a cheap ploy to ingratiate herself with her MoveOn buddies.

She claimed to speak for the family, which begged her to shut up and then publicly disowned her, stating that she had become too enamoured of the publicity to think of what had mattered to Casey.

She claimed to speak for parents of dead military, who denied that she spoke for them at all and repeated their pride in the dedication and sacrifice of their loved ones.

Cindy was not camping out at Crawford. She was staying in a hotel, and showing up at her "campsite" when the media were there. She and her leader/followers had big tents and catered meals during the day, before they went back to their air-conditioned comfort at local motels at night.

While the MoveOn-ers were cruising around the country in lavish air-conditioned coahces headed for DC to hold another meaningless protest, ignoring the plight of the Hurrican Katrina victims and the fact that Casey didn't even have a headstone, Cindy was not asking them to examine their priorities. Why should she? She shared them----go for the spotlight, go for the fame, to hell with the truth or common decency. The amount of money spent on the Cindy Sheehan debacle was astounding. Hers? Obviously not.

I have a mental image of Cindy clambering, Gollum-like, up a pyramid of flag-draped caskets, with Casey's at the apex, striving to reach the microphones and spotlights at the top.

She was a dupe, finally dropped even by the goofiest of the left because she got too goofy even for them. She and Michael Moore are still trying to figure out why no one answers their phone calls any more. Useful idiots, but useful no more.....

Almiranta,

And you know why she had so few "gold star" allies? Because liberals don't serve! Her husband (now -ex) and son were not liberal.

With so few liberals stepping up. And virtually none of the officer corps coming from liberal universities (let alone the Ivy League), the left will in a few short years have NO military experience at all. it will become even more clear that they can't be trusted with National Defense!
