Here's the news story:
WASHINGTON (AP) - The United States said Wednesday it would join in face-to-face talks with Iran over its disputed nuclear program once Tehran puts its atomic activities on hold, a shift in tactics meant to offer the Iranians a last chance to avoid punishing sanctions.Iran dismissed the offer as "a propaganda move."
At the White House, President Bush said that the U.S. would take a leading role in solving the conflict and that it was important to do so diplomatically.
"Our message to the Iranians is that one, you won't have a weapon, and two, that you must verifiably suspend any programs, at which point we will come to the negotiating table to work on a way forward," Bush said.
Essentially, we're offering them all they can ask for - all they have to do is give up their fool dream of a nuclear arsenal. If they aren't complete lunatics, they will accept this offer. Right now, they are blustering but I hope after a day or two of bluster they will have some second thoughts about being so dsmissive of this offer to negotiate a settlement.

Wow, what a gererous offer to Iran.
The US wants them to stop the enrichment of uranium. So, if you, Iran stop your enrichment of uranium, then we'll be willing to negotiate your stopping the enrichment of uranium.
I'm sure they will jump at this offer of peace from the west ... right after they stop laughing that is.
The funny part of it all is that that you conservatives actually believe that Iran is quivering at the though of a US attack. They are not. You don't even have enough troops to finish the mission in Iraq or Afganistan, never mind opening up a third theater. And if you bomb them unilaterally, you will have UN and world contempt and you may end up with China and Russia as enemies, both of which have many nuclear weapons.
The scary part is the Dubya is dumb enough and crazy enough to try, no doubt niave enough to think they can win a decisive victory ... just as they though of Iraq.
