Al Gore: Once a Loser, Always a Loser

Every now and again in American politics, a real creep comes along. Someone who tries to ingratiate themself with the public but who's irritating personality just puts people off. Al Gore is one of these.

Gore is a not-too-bright scion of a political hack who rose high in politics because his dad retained some popularity and influence when Gore broke in to politics. Aside from inventing the internet and being the model for a character in Love Story, one would be hard pressed to come up with an actual Gore accomplishment - and when you do find one, it is unflattering to Gore. As it is 2006, Gore is hoping that national amnesia has fully kicked in - he's got his absurd movie regarding global warming to wow the nincompoops on the left, and he's getting puff piece after puff piece in the MSM. In the end, Gore hopes to ride the enthusiasm of the nincompoops into the Democratic nomination in 2008, and then ride the smiles of the MSM into a victory the general election. Unfortunately for Gore, enough of us remember "no controlling legal authority", as well as the other bits and pieces of Clinton-era corruption Gore was involved in.

This brought up because Gore had the nerve to say the following:

Al Gore has made his sharpest attack yet on the George Bush presidency, describing the current US administration as "a renegade band of rightwing extremists".

In an interview with the Guardian today, the former vice-president calls himself a "recovering politician", but launches into the political fray more explicitly than he has previously done during his high-profile campaigning on the threat of global warming.

Denying that his politics have shifted to the left since he lost the court battle for the 2000 election, Mr Gore says: "If you have a renegade band of rightwing extremists who get hold of power, the whole thing goes to the right."

Even Gore can sometimes tell the truth - and he's right about his politics not shifting left since losing in 2000: Gore is neither left nor right. Like the last creep to occupy the White House, Richard Nixon, Gore is all about Gore. Just as NIxon played up to the right to secure their support for 1968 so, too, is Gore playing up to the left to secure their support in 2008. But it all doesn't matter - for Gore, the only thing that matters is Gore, and how Gore gets along. Gore will get on his knees for leftwing support, but he'll turn around and betray them even faster than Clinton did if that is required to ensure Gore's putative re-election in 2012 should he secure the White House in 2008.

Gore's own statement shows what a cynical opportunist he really is - after all, most of the "rightwing extremism" of President Bush is a set of policy proposals Gore subscribed to until he started to need leftwing support in 2000. I'll bet most of these younger lefties just don't know - that back in 1988, Gore was the conservative Democrat, like Zell Miller, who was gonig to lead the Democrats back to center/right political sanity. Back then, before I got a full dose of Gore, I figured he was a good guy...but 18 years and an incredible amount of political backstabbing later, Gore carries a different odor for me.

As for you lefties out there - you should take some advice: drop Gore like a bad habit. He's worse than Hillary Clinton.

Personally, I can't imagine him ever rising above the level of irrating wannabe.

I really feel great sympathy for Al Gore. (yeah, right) His mental health therapy did NOT work and he never got the Medal of Freedom for inventing the internet. I would post further, but I can't stop laughing. bwahahahahahaha!

Posted by: uffy [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:06 AM

Mark, as usual you are wrong:

“Aside from inventing the internet…”

What he said was..

Al Gore (3/9/99) “During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”

Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf, “…But as the two people who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of time.”

'Every now and then in American Poliics, a real creep comes along.'

Unfortunately, that creep(Dick Cheney: AKA-Lord Voldemort)just happens to reside in the Oval Office.

"Gore is a not-too-bright scion of a political hack who rose high in politics because his dad retained some popularity and influence when Gore broke in to politics."

Is that GORE? Sounds more like W to me. :D

I find it interesting how much slanderous venom is coming from the tighty righties towards Al Gore. He has virtually no chance to get the Democratic nomination. What I believe is happening is they (industrialists, corporatists) are actually attacking his message about the environment. But doing it indirectly because they realize how unpopular defending pollution and rape of the earth is.

So it is the message they hate. Less so the man.

Posted by: Ash [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:42 AM

Whoa, TL, did my buddy Dick get a promotion when I wasn't looking?

Seriously, Teen Lib, you've shown by your innane comments that you're not ready for adult sites yet. You really need to try something that's more your speed.

Posted by: Barneyg2000 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:49 AM

As for Gore having a part in the Internet...

It has been repeatedly shown that the vote to fund it came BEFORE he was elected. He had no role in the creation of it. It was there when he got there.

Posted by: Christopher Estep [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:50 AM

Ash, what exactly is Gore's "message about the environment"? Can you spell it out for me? Inquiring minds want to know.

Posted by: Retired Spook [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:52 AM

His recent prediction of the end of civilization did not exactly enhance his credibility.

"The sky is falling...the sky is falling!!!!"

Algore is the Chicken Little of politics.

I love when republicrats get all bent outta shape when someone who tells you that your suicidal dream of endless economic progress may be causing us problems..."Oh NO! you mean we cant fool people anymore with colorful charts showing that the world's resources are endless, and that corporations are our friends!?"

This piece cannot have been written by a bush supporter with a straight face, it must be tongue-in-cheek. bush the younger's grandfather showed his stuff by stealing the skull of Geronimo and giving it to the Skull and Bones Society at Yale, where he was a student-member. bush the elder made his "bones" as the director of the CIA. bush the younger failed at every busines that he tried before becoming president and has kept that record intact in the White House. Al Gore for President and Howard Dean for Vice-President in '08. Peace

I believe the people that know him best did the appropriate thing. The state of Tennessee and the COUNTY from which he resided said ....NO MORE GORE.

If his neighbors are doing that, then that's good enough for me.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 12:13 PM

This Republican doesn't care much what Gore is doing these days. He is a political has been, and the only reason he gets any air time is because he used to be vice president. Don't lump us all together "Third Eye Open", (other two REAL eyes closed) Your an angry ignorant bigot and I don't care one bit what you blather about, when you post it’s all nonsense anyways.

NO Hillary is worse - she frightens me - Gore is a idiot who is so confused and angry!

Posted by: semby at May 31, 2006 12:29 PM

Even you holes will be loving Gore as President. Hold your nose and vote for someone who can do some good you greedy wingers.

Posted by: Station Agent at May 31, 2006 12:30 PM

You guys are funny! Neither Gore nor Hillary has a snowball's chance in hell of being nominated because they are caricatures of rightwing hatred. Yet, you can't resist dreaming about it. Let me give you a tip - if they make shooting range targets with the politicians face printed on it, they won't get the Democratic nomination. Your ultimate adversary has yet to emerge.

Your ultimate adversary, by the way, may end up being a moderate republican. These next contests are for the middle ground and I don't need to tell you far righties - you are losing miserably there.

The neoconservative experiment is almost over. And after that, the Evangelical President experiment will be over. What's funny is that he wasn't even conservative enough for you guys even though he takes his orders directly from God. All it takes are a few million Mexicans and you throw him under the bus. A few here are even trying to start a new far-far-right party. You guys are on a one-way trip to marginalization...and distant memory.

Posted by: extramedium [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 12:52 PM

Extramedium- You certainly got Mark, Warriornation and AAR pegged, they're still waiting for the second coming of Barry Goldwater, the patron saint of right wing ranters. But their day in the sun is about over, judging from the 2/3 of this country who think we are moving in the wrong direction!

Posted by: kritter at May 31, 2006 01:09 PM

"a distant memory"....sort of like the 31 years it has been since a Democrat won 50% of the vote from the nation to be President.

That would be a DISTANT MEMORY

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 01:22 PM

Hey... Keep to the right,

you can believe anything you want, please, call me on my numbers or facts, you better believe im calling you out on yours.

It will be quite funny when teh republican party turns into 15 different splinter groups, relegated back to the philosophical junk-heap of history

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. The movie isn't worth seeing? Al Gore has nothing of value for you to hear? Anyone who thinks Al Gore may not be the best candidate for President must also believe he has nothing to say? I stand by my original statement: Al Gore is a scapegoat for all those industrialcapitalists that see environmental policies as a good factory in the mountains ruined.

I'll make you a deal: If you go see his movie, I will go see United 93.

Posted by: Ash [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 02:48 PM

Al gore, jimmah carter, ted kennedy, nancy pew-lowsey,hitlery, etc etc etc etc etc.
are all NEO-left wing socialist losers.
The democratic party has fallen into the toilet of insanity.
A CW (2) cant be far away it these losers ever regain power.

Posted by: bill at May 31, 2006 04:17 PM

Here's a gaurantee for you:

1. Al Gore will be the next President. You know it and I know it. Your post reeks of fear. So start the swift boating now fella's. Trust me, Al won't take it lying down.

2. America's status in the world will sky rocket. Finally, a statesman with the ability to string more than three words together.

3. America will retake the lead in combating proven global warming. Technology already developed will be required to be put into place to monitor and control gross polluters. The enormous profit by the oil and chemical industries will be required to be reinvested in clean air R and D.

4. Research and ACTION in developing other forms of energy and fuel saving technology will be pushed to the front. America will finally do something to wean ourselves from the oil teet.

5. I am positive that REAL action will be taken to protect our ports and borders. REAL action will be taken to implement the 911 commissions recommendations. (That W has completely ignored by the way). Something tangible, something different than the lip service we recieve now.

6. Our national security will be increased without compromising our basic liberties. No more illegal wiretaps. A intelligence agency will be reformed to bring us accurate data, data that we can trust to make competent decisions.

7. Science and the arts will recieve the support that will lead us into the future, pioneers of invention will be encouraged. Religious dogma will not restrain the goal of improving the quality of life.

8. Our outrageous budget will slowly be brought under control. W has made a mess of our deficit and will not be fixed overnight. Drastic moves to save our dollar must and will be implemented. Our economy is not as great as you profess. We are riding on the thin skin of a bubble that is ready to pop. Al Gore will address this outrageous predicament.

9. Al Gore will be welcomed in all other countries that value a person who can be trusted and has the best interests of all in mind, not just those of the selfish. I gaurantee you a different response when he steps on other countries ground. You will see the respect a leader deserves.

10. Al Gore will bring pride back to Americans.
It won't be long after his taking office that you will be proud (again) to scream out loud to anyone, ANYWHERE; I AM AMERICAN. Right now, as it is, you may get hissed or booed in other countries.

11. Al Gore can only be better than the WAR President we have now. Look around you, really.
What isn't falling apart at the seams...Afganistan? Iran? Iraq? The deficit? Global warming? Pakistan? The price of fuel? Medicare? Veterans support? On and on and on and on.

Watch and fear as the support grows. Be afraid, very afraid.

Posted by: raker13 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 05:35 PM

Wow, you right wingers are really, really, really woried about him. He's got you on the run, you can always tell when you resort to insults rather than factual statements.

Looks like hes a far bigger threat to you as a civilian rather than a politician.

Run right wingers, run!

Conservative to the Core,

I don't care how slowly Gore speaks, at least he can SPEAK!

Also, I love the conservative obsession with calling liberals "communists." Please. Talk about third-grade-level debate.

Posted by: ReaganSmash at May 31, 2006 06:37 PM

The swift-boating continues! You Repugs really do fear Gore, don't you?

You have good reason. He beat (read: more people voted) the best you had to offer in 2000, and he will do it *again* in 2008. Steve likes Dean as the running mate, I prefer Feingold. Either ticket will take it though.

"There's an old saying in Tennessee—I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee—that says, fool me once, shame on—shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again."

Posted by: maf53 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 07:59 PM

maf,

You do realise that to "swiftboat" is to "tell the unscotchable truth about a liberal hypocrit", right?

At any rate, far from fearing Gore, we welcome him - he's your new George McGovern. I'm thinking of the overall political health of the nation...if you dolts in the Democratic Party nominate Gore, we'll have a Republican President, 70 Republican Senators and 300 House Republicans in January of 2009. This is unbalance - too much power to one Party, and that will ultimately weaken conservatism.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 08:31 PM

I just sit in awe sometimes, that the term "swift boating" has become so ingrained with the repub's. It is a tactic that you own. You should be so proud that it is associated with your morals. Swiftboating--a smear tactic used to demean and degrade. Relentless, biased attack that bears little if any resemblence to the truth. Spread the smear far and wide and Homer Simpson or Joe Six Pack spoon fed Fox news actually starts beleive it as reality. May you always be proud to wear the moniker as offical "swift boaters" You should be proud of yourselves.

swiftboating--disgusting...

I remember Gore's treasonous statements he made about the US in Saudi Arabia. He should be hung.

Posted by: windybon at May 31, 2006 09:40 PM

Mark, re: swift boating, see Raker's comments above.

Yeah, Al Gore sure is one big loser, and he has no shot at the Presidency. Just like in 2000, right? Wait. He received more popular votes than Doofus Bush? Now, Mark - how is that possible?

Put him with Feingold in 2008 and I guarantee the Democrats will make it 4 out of the past 5 elections to win the majority - that's right - 4 out of the past 5!!! What "losers"! LOL.

PS - please, please nominate Condi. I'd love to see the turnout in Hicksville, USA to vote in a black woman for president.

Posted by: maf53 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:03 PM

My mistake - that should read "4 out of the past 5 elections to win the popular vote ..."

Posted by: maf53 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:17 PM

And yet Kerry still hasn't sued the Swift Boat Veterans because he knows he would lose.

Has he released his medical records yet?

Isn't it ironic (or pathetic) that the liberals will not listen to DECORATED war vetarns like the Swift Boat Vets, but will buy anything Kitty Kelly has to say.

If that doesn't sum up liberals in a nutshell, I don't know what does.

Raker...take the meds. Gore isn't even running. Clinton machine will make sure of that. They will torpedo him (if not KILL him literally) before that can even happen.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 10:52 PM

Isn't it ironic (or pathetic) that the conservatives will listen to DECORATED war vetarns like the Swift Boat Vets,

but ignore and ridicule a decorated GENERAL like Jack Murtha when he says things they don't want to hear. Pathetic.

One word: Barack Obama is coming......

Posted by: Ash [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 1, 2006 12:24 AM

Gore won't be making another play for the white house.

He is much more valuable on the front of blowing apart conservative myths like "Theres no evidence of global warming"

Hes got you all on the run like never before, trying to discredit him with dumb ads saying "its just carbon dioxide, we call it life."

I love it. Thats the best you can do because 90 out of 90 scientist at the front of global warming agree that there is clear evidence of it and that humans are principally responsible.

By the sounds of the early reports, Gore's film is a big hit and people all over the nation are going and walking out believers, not unbelievers.

and your pathetic attempts to swiftboat it are falling on deaf ears. Americans have your number, they know what conservatives are all about and they don't like it and will do something about it in november.

Do we need to defint majority? That would be 50% + 1 my friend.

The fact is that you would out in the cold in 2000 if not for your crooked voting machines and having the court stop the recount. You had to stop it as it was clear that Gore was going to pull off florida if you didn't.

If you were so popular as you claim, you would not need any crooked Diebold voting machines and court stopping voting hijinks.

I don't blame you though, you had the insight to understand that you could not win an honest election.

We democrats might be a little slow on the uptake to your crooked election rigging tactics, but we are catching on really quick, so it will get harder and harder for you to rig it in the future.
