Did You Know Howard Dean Has a Brother?

Yes, he does - Jim Dean, and he is honcho of something call Democracy for America. It describes itself thusly:

Inspired by the presidential campaign of Howard Dean, Democracy for America (DFA) is a political action committee dedicated to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government—from school board to the presidency. DFA fights against the influence of the far right-wing and their radical, divisive policies and the selfish special interests that for too long have dominated our politics.

DFA has a long-term goal to rebuild the Democratic Party from the bottom up—it will take time, but we must start building a base now for the future...

...Who heads Democracy for America?

James H. Dean, Chairman

As the chair of Democracy for America (DFA), Jim Dean is committed to carrying on what his brother, Governor Howard Dean, started...

And just how does James Dean seek to carry on his brother's vision? Primarily, it would seem, by attacking liberal Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman:

On Friday, Connecticut Democrats said, "Enough." The Connecticut Democratic Convention was the first opportunity for an open vote between Joe Lieberman and upstart challenger Ned Lamont. With the process heavily stacked toward insiders, Lamont was expected to collect just a handful of votes. Instead, he shocked the establishment and won more than twice the number of votes he needed to qualify for the August primary ballot.

Ned Lamont has won the support of DFA members across Connecticut and now he's won a place on the ballot to challenge Joe Lieberman.

First off: Aren't the Democrats supposed to be all united against the divided GOP?

Secondly: When an ardent liberal like Joe Lieberman is attacked like this, we can see the death of the Democratic Party. They simply cannot survive as a Party if they have no room for Joe Lieberman. Honestly, I some times suspect there won't even be a Democratic nominee in 2008...at least, not a nominee of a united Democratic Party.

The only people who are to the right of Joe are George W and John McFalwell.

He is no more a liberal than Messers Noonan and Margolis. You know what a RINO is? He is a DINO.

If George Bush stopped fast, it would take the doctors 3 days to dig Joe's nose out of George's butt.

Joe has some big 'splaining to do, otherwise, his next job in government will be in the last 2 years of the bush administration.

First of all, oh presient one, this is a primary. Lieberman himself won his seat on an anti-Vietnam platform against a Democratic incumbent. It would be poetic for him to go down for being a war apologist.

But, more importantly, thank you for your deep concern for the Democratic Party. We will not forget your loving suggestions.

Joe,

Lieberman opposes drilling in ANWR, supports public schools, wants what amounts to a windfall profits tax on oil companies, is sponsoring anti-trust legislation against the oil companies, opposes President Bush's EPA nominee, is a firm supporter of the radical view of global warming, voted against Alito...if he ain't liberal, then I don't know what is.

You see, you don't want liberals - you want anti-Bush fanatics...and Lieberman, decent and patriotic liberal that he is, won't play in your political gutter...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 04:22 AM

Winnow,

Ummm, Lieberman won his Senate seat by gift of Catholic voters, many of whom were motivated by Bill Buckley in his bid to get rid of the really horrible Senator Wieker. He was known as a social conservative all along - but, hey, he's an orthodox Jew and so you're not going to get someone like him out there marching in favor of gay marriage.

You need the Joe Lieberman's - if you've no room for them, while the GOP has room for Giuliani, Schwarzenegger and McCain, then you're political toast.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 04:25 AM

Mark,

I should have said he won his entrance into politics in Conneticut as an anti-war candidate.

By the time he made it to the Senate, he was probably more conservative than the republican candidate...

"In Connecticut, it shouldn't take more than a short ride to get to the unemployment office."

Hey Joe, you better run on down
Goodbye, everybody

Couldn't have said it better myself, and you're correct about chaps like Arnold, Rudy, and McLame. We may not agree with all of their beliefs, but all three possess a solid core when it comes to this country. what the kookbats fail to remember is that the government's number one priority is supposed to be is to protect this country and its people. I could trust Arnold, Rudy, McLame, even Lieberman to do this. Heck, I could even trust Hitlery, if she waren't so hawkish on taxes.

They might get away with this in CT, but they'd never be able to advance a lib in flyover country...

Joe and winnowhead, with no due respect, you're both full of crap. In 2004 Lieberman's rating with the American Conservative Union was ZERO, while in 2005 it was 8% (tied with those other two "Dinos", Schumer and Kerry). Only 15 members (all Democrats) of the Senate scored lower than Lieberman in 2005. The fact that your main gripe with Lieberman is that he takes his constitutional oath to "protect this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic", speaks volumes about your loyalty to this country.

Congressive, watch out for the black helocopters.

Sorry, that should have been "takes his constitutional oath to "protect this country from all enemies foreign and domestic" seriously...

Joe Lieberman is a Republican. Just look at his voting record.

I never understood ANWR opposition to EXPLORITORY drilling w a min footprint.

I worked the oilpatch for 2 yrs to pay-off my college loans. Any oil company must first exploritory drill to ESTABLISH a geological map to determine if profitable reserves exist at all.
until then, it's all hot air on both sides.

next - MEMBERS OF BOTH PARTIES sucessfully blocked additional continental shelf drilling. Consequently, the GOP has lost my respect regarding ANWR.

lastly, I'd of voted for Liberman over W. but the dems were completely deceived by lieutenant kerry & ignored his perjurious "winter soldier" testimony known by him to be false before he swore to it.

FYI - Howard Dean is the oldest of 4 brothers.
The others are: Charlie (died in the 1970s),
Bill (financial executive in Mass.), and
Jim (marketing executive in CT, and now the
head of DFA).

Whether or not Joementum survives this race with a real Democrat will be decided by DEMOCRATS. This site may fawn over the senator's new love for all things Bush, but we are changing the party -- and not in an incremental way. Time to go warmongers!

Posted by: Salvelinus [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 10:11 AM

Any Democrat who supports war is a warmonger and should join the Republican War Party. The next 2 elections are going to be about who wants war and who does not. If that means that the Democratic Party is destroyed so be it. We will stand-up the Peace Party and take on the War Party. Peace

Posted by: steve at May 24, 2006 10:51 AM

Heck, I could even trust Hitlery, if she waren't so hawkish on taxes.

You MUST be kidding. Hillary has NO PRINCIPLES; she is guided only by the polls and her desire to get elected.

Just ask someone that knows her well what she is really like, say, Vince Foster.

Ooops, never mind.

Posted by: LaMano [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 11:01 AM

Winnow,

On matters of morals, yes, Lieberman was the more conservative candidate for Senate...but GOPers worked to elect him not on that score, but on the fact that Weicker was a loose cannon and an embarrasment to the GOP...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 11:54 AM

This site may fawn over the senator's new love for all things Bush...

Sorry, saliva, but Joe doesn't support "all things Bush." Of course, your delusional ass wouldn't know that. And you're gonna change the DemocRAT party to what, a bunch of kook libs? Sorry, boy, but that won't go over in flyover country. You're an idiot.

We will stand-up the Peace Party and take on the War Party. Peace

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Steve, you are a hoot! You, Dennis Kookcinich, and Cindy Shriekhan are gonna stand up the Peace Party, and take on my War Party? You'll be tossin' flowers at us; we'll be tossin' grenades at you. Doesn't seem fair to me, son, but bring it on! War

Posted by: keefer [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 08:24 PM

Joe claims George W. is a hard right winger?

Now that is funny considering most of us conservatives don't find him conservative or a right winger at all.

Posted by: Warriornation [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 24, 2006 10:26 PM

Noonan, your casting of Lieberman as an ardent liberal reveals nothing accurate about the senator but more than a little about you. You don't know what you're talking about.

As for your dire predictions for '08, just keep on with what you're doing. Don't change a thing, please.

Posted by: S.W. Anderson [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 25, 2006 01:38 AM

SW,

If you can't see Lieberman as a liberal, then that is a failure on your part, not mine...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 25, 2006 01:55 AM

Howard dean is a NUT!!, and I sure hope the folks standing around him during his campaigning days got their rabies shots. hahahahaha!!and I would expect to say the same about his brother HA!!
