allright, so are we settled now? Can we now get back to the business at hand? Enough with the immigration distraction and unleash the B-2's on Iran, please?

sheesh!

So is this a test to see who all of a sudden decides it was a bad speech when they look at their poll #'s?

I for one cannot support President Bush on this issue. I have a lot of respect for the president and his war on terror but I think he is very week on immigration. First, we must secure the border at all costs. Build a fence, use all the high tech, and use the National Guard as necessary, but we need to stop all illegal crossings, not just do better. Second, there should be no pathway to citizenship for those who initially broke the law. The bill they are proposing is rediculous. Essentially, the longer you have broken the law, the sooner we'll make you a citizen. That makes sense, and no, we don't have to round them up, just dry up the jobs for the illegals, through etrition they will eventually go back, or get caught up in some illegal activity and be deported anyway. This crap about jobs Americans won't do, it's jobs Americans won't do for the 3 or 4 dollars an hour. If we grant this "amnesty" again, we are going to be in deeper crap in the next 10 to 20 years.

I would have preferred my plan but at least he proposed a fence (over some of the border) and military for a limited period. Maybe we can build on that to get a complete fence, and even more military on the border.

If Bush is so keen on immigration reform, why wait 6 years, before calling for immigration reform?

fact is, they could have supported more funds for border security in any of the budgets they have submitted since 2000, but didn't.

this, my friends, is a political "hail-mary" designed to distract you from Iraq and high gas prices.

I have to agree with redneckreality. If we are going to be forced to keep these illegal aliens in our country, their punishment for entering illegally should be that they should never be allowed to be citizens -- ever. Pending background checks they should be issued resident alien cards but not be allowed to apply for citizenship. They came here illegally, they should never have a voice in the policies that affect the citizens of this country.

I like the plan. The only problem which someone has yet to explain is how it will be funded. Oh, nevermind...more deficit spending and cutting taxes. Perfect!

We have not done a damn thing about out borders since God created it. President Bush has at least started the process of fixing it.

I am not 100% satisfied; I am not 100% dissatisfied. I am somewhere in the middle. 'Ole Chinese proverb says that the longest trip starts with the smallest step.

The trip has begun.

Hey, President Bush's speech was better than Clinton's two million dollar missile hitting a camel in the butt, the day before his lying deposition on his Paula Jones case. However, only Republicans do things wrong and should be hung out to dry. Democrats just made a little mistake, but that is okay. YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this is the first President you've been old enough to watch CNN to pay attention to?
