This is what we rely on to get at the truth in our society? Via Josh Marshall (Hat Tip: NRO's Media Blog):

QUESTION: I'd like -- this was 9:00 a.m., then it was pushed back to 9:30 a.m., and then I walk in at 9:20 a.m., and it's already well underway.

QUESTION: Do not do that again.

QUESTION: This isn't good.

TONY SNOW: Well, this is -- it's my fault. And it had to do with vagaries of the schedule today, and I apologize, period.

QUESTION: Because we've missed half of it. This is the first one you're doing, and I just feel like --

TONY SNOW: Well, I apologize. That's just flat my fault.

QUESTION: Can everybody get a gaggle -- can everyone get a gaggle emailed to them?

QUESTION: Can we get a transcript?

TONY SNOW: Yes. And what we will try to do, I will make this a lot more predictable and regular, you've got to give me a little forbearance.

QUESTION: I was here, sitting out here in the hallway. I can't even hear any of this conversation.

TONY SNOW: Okay, well, I'll tell you what we will do then is we will move it back into the Briefing Room. I had this wonderful idea that this would be nice and collegial and relaxed, but it obviously at this point is just a mess. (Laughter.) So rather than doing that, we will go back to gaggling in the Briefing Room, and then as numbers dwindle, we may think of bringing it back here.

Hey, MSM - would you like some cheese with that whine? My mother would have backhanded me had I ever talked to anyone like that....geesh!

Mark, I don't recall Newsweek calling me and asking what I thought of President Bush. If they had, I would have told them that I think President George W. Bush is the greatest president in american history- a president who has had to deal with more than any president in history other than FDR and Abraham Lincoln. A president who has no fear or hesitancy to tackle tough issues, in fact revels in tackling tough issues that other presidents would not touch. A president who is a good, honest decent man, who is presiding over the greatest economy this country has ever seen, has lead this country heroically after 9/11 and has prevented another attack in the USA for over 4 1/2 years, while other countries have been hit by the enemy. A president who has liberated 50 million people and planted the seed of democracy in many others, and thereby changing the lives for all future generations in Iraq and Afganistan. A president, with steel resolve has taken the fight to the enemy kicking out the taliban and fitting saddam hussien, the worst mass murderer in the last 50 years, in an orange jumpsuit. A president who has put 2 great conservative justices on the US Supreme Court. A president who has placed the US House of Representatives, Senate and most governorships in republican control. A president who has cleaned up corporate corruption and has led to the arrest of many of the corporate criminals who engaged in their illegal activity under the prior president. A president who seemingly gets no credit for the smaller things, like the lowest crime rate in 30 years, education reform, tort reform, intelligence reform, giving all our elderly parents cheaper drugs, increased home ownership and business start ups for minorities, saving thousands in New Orleans by begging and getting the negligent governor and mayor to issue an evacuation order when they were not going too and convincing the negligent mayor to cease encouraging citizens to return when Hurricane Rita, a category 5, was crossing Florida on its way to the Gulf. A President who will always be motivated by what is the right thing to do and will say what he means. A president who will continue to tackle the big issues and will fight to reform and keep solvent Social Security and Medicare, Immigration, school choice and to make the USA energy independent, while being fought every step of the way by the shamefully power hungry democrats. And President Bush will continue to treat others fairly and compassionately, when he receives little from the shameful partisan media, shameful democratic party and those shameful, ungrateful conservatives who have failed to watch his back and who should have known better. Some one should remind them that nobody elected them, we elected President George W. Bush, who has been honest and upfront with us from the day he first decided to run for president. What I would tell Newsweek if they asked me is this- I can't imagine a time in the future when President George W. Bush will not be president because I would then fear for this countries survival. God bless you President Bush.

Nice to know Tony Snow is a union man, though. Says his only media pension is from AFTRA. Nothing from Fox. Probably has his checking account and mortgage through their credit union, too. In fact, UnionPlus.org has a ton of discounts and deals exclusively for union people that more than pay for the yearly dues. Unions sure are great. I guess without union support, he'd be totally at the mercy, or lack thereof, of corporate suits.

Now, why do conservatives hate unions? Surely Tony doesn't have a problem with AFTRA.

It's unbelievable how much they whine. My parents would have backhanded me too and told me to suck it up.

I also have never been called for a poll, but my step-son who lives in Massachusetts is called for polls all the time. Go figure!

Well I find it pretty absurd that the White House Press Secretary invited several dozen members of the press corps to his office, where they were crammed in elbow to elbow, only after scheduling the meeting for 9:00, then moving it to 9:30, then starting the meeting at 9:15. He is the spokesman for the leader of the free world. You'd think he could run his operation better than a third rate small business. He himself called it a mess, because it was. They had every right to be annoyed.

James,

I'd really like to see what zip codes they are calling in to for their polls these days...I suspect that they aren't as random as advertised...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 15, 2006 01:47 AM

Keefer,

I find it amazing that the White House Press corps can't cut a little slack to a man who just started in a new position and who was, after all, trying to be nice...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 15, 2006 02:07 AM

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH Do they want their shoes tied for them too?

Posted by: John at May 15, 2006 08:22 AM

right keefer

If it is all just whining, why did he say this?

TONY SNOW: Well, I apologize. That's just flat my fault.

doesn't sound like he thought it was whining.

I don't know about you Mark, but every new job I have started, I made sure to be there early and well prepared. Just common sense. But I hate to agree with keefer.
