McClellan's Final Days...
White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan is finishing up his last days as Bush's spokesman... I have to say I'm anxious to see how Tony Snow is going to do when he takes over...

Has anyone heard that Snow's daily briefings will no longer be televised?
What's up with that?

And now introducing the new Whitehouse Press Secretary Tony Snow - his first official words...
"MR. SNOW: As you know, President Bush, earlier today, nominated General Michael Hayden to become the next Director of Central Intelligence (Agency). A lot of you have questions about the circumstances surrounding that, so I thought we would invite Ambassador John Negroponte, the Director of National Intelligence, to answer your questions. He has an opening statement, and then will take questions."

Many Presidents have chosen not to televise the daily briefings....why is this "news"?

Well first I was just asking.
Second this is afterall the information age and it is possible for us to hear the Presidents representative speak without being filtered or skewed by a middle man. I'm sure you are right about previous presidents. I can't imagine Thomas Jefferson had many live telecasts. My worst fear is that Fox News will be assigned pool status and then we will get Tony Snow (Fox alumuni) as reported by Brett Hume. Surely even you would be aghast at that scenario. Or would you?
Finally, the Presidency has always shown disdain for the media. The media didn't do their job when this war started, otherwise we may not have been sucked in this quagmire. They must do their jobs now. And demanding answers from a highly suspect administration is job #1.

I'm against dropping live (or rebroadcast) telecasts of the News Briefings. More than ever, the electorate needs to hear the news conferences. It will show us just how partisant the sniping media is as it asks loaded questions. Tony Snow is more than up to the task of answering and rebutting the drive-by media's rants. Please don't restrict the live broadcasts of news conferences...
