What Media Bias? XLIV

In the spring of 1945, Nazi German radio kept up a drumbeat of positive news - how, in spite of all, the (as they described it) "degenerate, plutocratic-Jew Bolshevists" would be defeated. They were making these announcements right up to the time allied soldiers kicked in their doors. What this shows is that totalitarian-minded people will just keep right on with their fanaticism to the bitter end. Facts and truth mean nothing, all that matters is that the lie be preserved in peoples minds as long as possible.

I bring this up because of this headline:

Al-Qaida Leader: U.S. 'Broken' in Iraq

According to a "Nazi leader", the US assault on Okinawa in the Pacific had been "broken", too - attempting to buck up Germans who were finding Americans and Russians all over their country, it was decided to report that the American attack on Okinawa was turning into a bloodbath for the American forces. Totalitarians in 1945 and 2006 think and act alike - the difference is that in 2006, our idiot MSM reports on what the totalitarian is saying, as if it were based in reality, as if it had any meaning other than propaganda.

What do they expect and al-Qaida leader to say? That we're whacking the terrorists to heck and gone? That Iraqis are signing up for the Iraqi army in droves? That a democratic unity government has been formed? That Iraqs economy is starting to take off? The only thing any al-Qaida leader can say (other than, "I surrender"), is some sort of lie about how swell things are going for the terrorists in Iraq...and who gives a darn what they are saying?

Well, the MSM does...because they want al-Qaida to win, because that would be bad for the US in general, and President Bush in particular...so the pathetic ravings of terrorists in hiding are reported on as if they were of the same sort as, say, a press conference by the President of the United States.

Pathetic.

Mark, I admit it, the media in america tends to be very heavily biased, generally I find the bias is to the right, and until I see them tell the truth about left leanign governments (eg under chavez the economy has gotten better in the sence the poor are gettign richer) and stop using the word communism in the form they currently do (eg claling china of all things communist) I will continue to call the MSM heavily biased to the right.

Bagdad Bob Syndrome(BBS), too bad the drive by media buys into it. Don't know about where you live, but where I am people are too darn busy to notice the 'bad economy'.

Thought for a minute there I was hearing Senator Minority leader Harry Reid (D) Nevada in the article.

He said that U.S. and British forces in Iraq had bogged down in Iraq and "have achieved nothing but loss, disaster and misfortune."
Do they have the same speachwriters? Or, are our democratic talking points sounding good for them too?

I mentioned my last post to my wife, and she pointed out what I missed.

"If we have the opposition in Iraq sounding just like democrats in the USA, have we already achieved a democracy in Iraq?"
I think she's hit the nail on the head... Let the dimocRats or moonbats argue this point.

Dude I think the MSM is reporting what the knucklehead said. I don't think they are agreeing with his statement. Isn't the media supposed to report.

I think you're a little over-reactive. Besides the mainstream media is owned by 7 rich conservative guys who control huge chuncks of the media. It's a neocons dream. Large multinational corporations are in charge...how can you be complaining? Isn't that the free market system? And Colin Powell son is in charge of the FCC and he's giving more and more power to the media conglomerates letting them own a greater and greater share of the market. Soon they'll figure a way to own and control this internet as well. And bought out politicians will help them do so.

I'm not sure if you know this but the left is very unhappy with mainstream media as well. I mean VERY unhappy...its one of their TOP issues.

USA party of Obstruction = IRAQ party of Destruction

Posted by: dl [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 29, 2006 08:48 AM

The only differences US Ob = IRQ De

Yes Washington --- "we do have a counrty".

Now they will need lawyers, orthodontists, used car dealers, media, shopping malls, resorts, interstate highways, smog, graffiti, comedians, Nigerian business opportunities, telemarketers and liberal moonbats to help them get the rest of the way to civilization.

Harry Reid is useful in teaching their liberal moonbats. I am amazed, I didn't think he had a real purpose in life. Now I will admit that I am wrong, and Reid is indeed a useful idiot.

muirgeo,

First let me state that you're a little behind in the news. Michael Powell resigned as Chairman of the FCC on Jan 21, 2005. So unless he's controlling the FCC by secret mind rays, he isn't "giving more and more power to the media conglomerates letting them own a greater and greater share of the market."

I'm very intrigued by your claims of "the 7 rich convervative guys" who control huge chuncks of the media. Who are those guys?

Its ironic how these "7 rich convervative guys" allow their media conglomerates to lean to the left (with the possible exception of the News Corporation). They had better start cracking the whip on their unruly minions who are straying from the corporate line.

And Colin Powell's son, I believe, was first appointed to the FCC under Clintune. Gee, how we forget these things Muireigo.

Did I mention that our economy grew at 4.8%. Look for a very strong job number this coming Friday...

muirgeo,

I know the left is unhappy with the MSM...becaue its not lefty enough; we on the right are only unhappy with the MSM because they won't admit their leftwing bias...if they'd just do that for all to see, we'd be off their back in a second...you on the left would still be upset because they aren't calling for Bush's impeachment, but that is something that you have a problem with, not us.

As it is - I know they are just reporting what he's saying; but there is no need to report it...just as there was no need to report the latest Goebbles screed during WWII...in in heck cares what the enemy spokesman is saying? And even if you are to report it, then reporting it in that headline...which a lot of people will just scan without thought...is to play into enemy hands for propaganda purposes.

pathetic is their heavy thinkin',on hating Bush,to scare the people, without any steady ground.
They are demagogues, pleasing the weak mass.

The so-called "MSM" has been compliant to fault with the Bush administration. You guys need to look over some international media now and again -- and get away from the shameless American propaganda we get blasted with every day.
