shoe,
I've been saying we've won since 2005 - as soon as Iraqis were able to approve a Constitution, the terrorists were defeated...it just became a matter of time; whether or not they'd stay and all be killed, or the survivors would eventually leave...looks like some are leaving, some staying to be killed...six of one, half dozen of the other...

Gee what a suprise, I guess it's not a suprise unless, "You think that George Bush is the greatest terrorist of them all, and we haven't had a terror attack in the U.S. because he is the greatest terrorist"! Unless you think like that this is not suprising at all!!!

"We have not been able to deliver the knockout punch to al Qaeda, and there is no doubt they are in the planning stages for something big," the official said, adding that Osama bin Laden and deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri might settle for something less due to their diminished capacity.”
Boy that is great news, a spectacular attack against the US.
And This:
“Terrorists killed 14,602 people and carried out approximately 11,000 attacks last year, according to a report [PDF] scheduled for release Friday morning by the State Department and the National Counterterrorism Center. That's more than double the incidents and fatalities in 2004, when 3,192 attacks killed 6,060 people, NCTC reported last July.”
I do not think the world could take much more success?

So why are we americans so gullible? why is it that you believe we are winning a war on a generalized subject? Having gone into Iraq, we pretty much sparked a movement. This movement has a goal, and that is to be rid of the U.S.'s greedy little fingers in all of their foreign oil. We should not be waging wars with whomever we chose just because our car companies don't care to reveal new energy technologies. And dont try and retaliate with some long, complex essay about why we aren't there for oil, because every red blooded american knows thats what runs this country. Its very sad to see people like yourself continuously condoning the slaughter of innocent iraqis. By the way the death toll for iraqi citizens has totally gotten out of control. By most accounts, it has allready topped 30,000. How many lives does it take? Or will you have to die, for someone to make a change? My brother is in Iraq, and he still tells me that most,if not all of our soldiers have no judgment anymore. He says that most of the time, soldiers could care less if they hit an innocent person or an enemy. They are taught not to feel in training. Also, why are there suicides happening among the soldiers stationed overseas? I thought they were supposed to be trained both physically and mentally? The way i look at it, war was never meant to bring peace. and one cannot look at this terrible situation we are in and try and say that someone here is winning at something. If you constitute winning as having killed more of them than they have us? well then you might be right. That would be the proper way to put it. No sugarcoating. If war is the way you think we should spread democracy, then i truly think you are lost my friend. We as Americans should understand the meaning of leaving other countries alone. For christs sake, we wanted to be left alone when we came to america right? I personally am ashamed to see such poor representation of my country coming from the whitehouse. This administration has done the worst job in helping our own country with education, jobs, and numerous other things that i have ever seen, and to add to that, the whole country is just now realizing how corrupt these rich, arrogant, republicans are. It looks like a long road to the truth. and by that i mean we will be long gone when someone actually admits the Iraq War was the biggest mistake this president has ever made. both for himself and the american people.

And Doofus Bush declared "mission accomplished" more than *three* years ago. So what's your point?
From your own report:
"In 2004, the U.S. government's National Counterterrorism Center, which monitors terrorism, counted 3,192 terror attacks worldwide, including more than 28,000 people wounded, killed or kidnapped.
Officials have said the government last year changed its system of counting global attacks and devoted more energy to finding reports of violence against civilians. Even so, the higher figures underscore how terrorism around the world has grown since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001."
Nice try, boys. We haven't won anything.
Posted by: maf53 at April 28, 2006 03:18 PM
maf, Barney -
No, we haven't won. But imagine those figures (especially here in the US) if we hadn't done anything about Al Qaida. Maybe we could do more, but Al Qaida is fractured and I'm sure that's been instrumental in avoiding further attacks and has saved countless lives.
I'm no Bush lover, but you have to give credit where it's due.

What a pitiful lot. Perhaps they can engage Mohammad in Dante's 9th level.

As soon as I read something so patently absurd there's no reason to read any further. I guess this America hater never heard of 9-11, or the USS Cole, or Khobar towers, or the first World Trade Center bombing, or the African Embassy bombings. Where do these intellectual midgets come from?

Posted by: Rich at April 28, 2006 04:27 PM
CJ,
No, maf53 and Barney aren't trying to spin it so that THEIR team is winning. They're completely obsessed with OUR team losing.
I know, I know. Glass half empty. Glass half full!! Us vs. Them.
They don't want to be perceived as being FOR al Qaeda so much as AGAINST the U.S.
If it wasn't al Qaeda, they'd find someone else to cheer on. As long as the U.S. exists, they'll root AGAINST us...
I'm with you CJ: "Where do these intellectual midgets come from?"
Midgets or not, they sure have a good set of lungs. Like some spoiled child in a grocery store, they just keep on wailing and pitching a fit, hoping to get what they want - whatever that is...
In this case, they want everyone to admit defeat, call them the wise ones, and submit to dhimmitude...
News flash, dimwits! If you get what you seem to want, you'll be in line for a head chopping, too...

I did notice that. It's too bad that liberals are more concerned with trying to impeach our President instead of attacking those who killed our own citizens on September 11th...
The President of the United States led a war on terror that no other President would have done, and al-Qaeda is on the run. They are desperately trying to succeed, but they are not. Seeing explosions on your tv screen may make you hate the cause now, but 20 years from now you libs will see the effects, and the good things that it has done for our world. We are trying to eliminate terrorism and terrorist organizations. We will never eradicate terrorism, just like we will never eradicate disease, but breaking up organizations and trying our very best to make the world safer is a noble, honorable task. AND IM PROUD OF OUR PRESIDENT FOR HAVING THE BALLS TO STAND UP TO THOSE FACISTS AND SAYING "I CAN HEAR YOU! THE REST OF THE WORLD HEARS YOU! AND THE PEOPLE WHO KNOCKED THESE BUILDINGS DOWN WILL HEAR ALL OF US SOON!!"
I think they heard us Mr. President. Loud and clear. And we arent't going ANYWHERE.

Well, libs...Yes we can. Fighting terrorism SHOULD NOT be a Democrat or Republican thing. We should be fighting terrorists and doing as much as we can to stop the spread of their manipulation and terrorism, so that our grandchildren wont have to fight them on our soil. But liberals have made it a partisan issue. Why won't you stand up against terrorism? You obviously aren't, because you will not even acknowledge our success!

a problem with a war on terror is that it is really hundreds of small wars with different groups. it is not like fighting one big german warmy during world war II. hopefully we'll keep seeing good news on as many fronts as possible.

Funny you should use the word "spin," CJ; I'm sure you're quite used to that tactic. Citing numbers from an article that Matt used to *support* President Bush is not spinning; it's called quoting a source. Do you care to comment on the numbers themselves, or insist on calling people names? Oh, that's right:
"Problem is that maf53 and Barney think that Bush was responsible for the terrorist attacks on 9-11."
Really, CJ? I said that? Where? That's quite a claim. Of course, you have nothing to support such an idiotic statement. Big surprise.
"It's too bad that liberals are more concerned with trying to impeach our President instead of attacking those who killed our own citizens on September 11th..." -RA
Interesting you should bring up those responsible for 9/11. Hmmm, does bin Laden ring a bell? That's right - Bush doesn't think about him anymore. It's too bad that Repubs are more concerned with spreading American Imperialism across the globe instead of catching those *truly* responsible for 9/11. And hint: they didn't come from Iraq. But you already knew that.
"You obviously aren't, because you will not even acknowledge our success." -RA
Go ahead, define success - what's your definition of "winning" this so-called War on Terra? We've killed more civilians than they have? We've conquered more land? We've spent more money? We've dropped more bombs? Wow. Congratualations. You've shown your might. You're a real tough guy. We're all very impressed.
Go ahead. Invade Iran next. And then Syria. North Korea. Sudan. Cuba. Am I forgetting somebody off of your list? I'm sure it will make you feel a whole lot better - make you think that you're "fighting the terrorists," and that you're doing nothing wrong.

Posted by:

I have a theory about how the minds of the leftists became so perverse. They probably attended government schools... filled with socialists and partisans who have chosen to "inform them" of "historical fact" instead of teaching them how to think analytically for themselves. Meanwhile other "historical facts" that run counter to the teacher's political point of view are often glossed over or completely absent from the class syllabus. Case in point: Mr. Jay Bannish (sp?) who was supposed to be teaching geography at a Colorado High School. He was audiotaped delivering an anti-Bush, anti-America rant instead of ostensibly showing people where the country of Iraq could be located on a map. When interviewed, he seemd to indicate that this was nothing unusual, or for anyone to get upset by. And the school administration seems willing to back him up. Do you really think that is an isolated incident?
The extreme left has been losing power. They've lost several elections (which they claim were stolen). Their activist judges are being increasingly called to the carpet when they attempt to legislate from the bench. Then to rub salt in their wounds, our President has managed to install two apparently unabashed conservative constructionists on the Supreme Court. The new media is rising to challenge the drive-by media who until recently had a stranglehold on the dissemination of information and analysis. And the American public is repudiating them and their failed philosophies on issue after issue. They're clutching at straws and one of the few straws that they have left is the educational system and higher academia. So that's where they're concentrating their strategies to achieve their long-term agenda.
People like Barneyg2000 and maf53 can't be blamed for believing what they believe. In the computer world, we have a term for the phenomenon. It's called "Garbage in, Garbage out (GIGO).

I think it starts much earlier than that. It's got to be their parents too. We all grew up with liberal teachers, especially in college but for most of us we grew up and developed critical thinking skills early in life. I believe left wing fanatics like maf53 were not taught those skills by her parents. You can't lay all of their educational deficiencies at the teachers feet.

Funny you should bring this guy up. I'm sure you've read the transcript of his lesson that day. And I'm wondering what from his lesson was not TRUE. Is it that you take issue with the TRUTH of his speech, or only that you deem it "anti-Bush, anti-America," and therefore, it does not fall in line with your party's point of view?

CJ,
You're right about not laying all the blame on the educational system. I, too, was raised in a government school, yet eventually learned how to think for myself. My experience (which is all I have to go on) is that most parents aren't involved enough in their childrens' education to know what's going on. And, like you noted, some parents actually agree with the brainwashing that's occurring...
As for maf53's assertion "...I'm sure you've read the transcript of his lesson that day. And I'm wondering what from his lesson was not TRUE. Is it that you take issue with the TRUTH of his speech, or only that you deem it "anti-Bush, anti-America," and therefore, it does not fall in line with your party's point of view?"
All I can say is it doesn't matter whether it's true or not. When given a subject matter to teach, one should stick to the subject matter, not take the occasion to pontificate and spread their personal opinions on political matters to a CAPTIVE AUDIENCE. If any of those kids were to have walked out in protest, they'd have faced disciplinary action.
Of course, maf53 is so wise and learned that he DID read the transcript in full and is COMPLETELY aware of all the nuanced context of the lesson and course in question... All I heard was the part where Mr. Bannish(sp?) sounded like it was time to call a mental health professional... And it is not "my" party. It is one of two corrupt and failed political parties that we have to deal with. I'd rather have a viable third choice, but to paraphrase our favorite Secretary of Defense, "You go to the polls with what you have, not with what you'd like to have..."
Again, Garbage In, Garbage Out...
Hmm... I didn't know that maf53 had a job as a spokesman for the Sanitation Engineer's Association...

Settlement Agreement Ends State Investigation of Rush Limbaugh
Fri Apr 28 2006 18:59:55 ET
Palm Beach, FL – April 28, 2006 – In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh’s attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:
"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney’s Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.
“Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of ‘Not Guilty’ to the charge filed by the State.
“As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of “supervision” and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
“Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won.”
The actions taken today are as follows:
The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.
Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of “Not Guilty” with the Court.
The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:
Ø Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.
Ø After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.
Ø Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.

Were you proud when Dick Durbin smeared our troops by comparing them to Gulags, Pol Pot, and Nazi's? Did you not stop and think when bin Laden quoted Michael Moore and the whole "My Pet Goat" silliness right before the election?
Did you not stop and think when "Kos" said "screw 'em" when those 4 fellow Americans who were protecting a medical convoy were burned alive and strung up on a bridge?

Barney doesn't get out his mothers basement much. I got arrested because we had a football pool at my bar. It was a strip card with numbers 0-9. $5 a line, so there was a whopping $30 in the pool. On top of that my bail was $20,000. I swear I can't remember sleeping with Chiefs wife. :)
Anyway, they'll arrest you for anything and then really stick it to you with bail. That was in December of 2004 and I'm still going to court for it. May 11th is the next court date. I'd rather have what Limbaugh got than what I got!

Hey Barneyg2000,
Your nonjudgmental display of compassion and respect for the judicial process is impressive.
Your attention span must be that of a gnat. And your math skills suck. CJ states that his bail was $20,000 and you come back with the pithy comment, "CJ, I'm glad to know that you got $30K to blow for doing nothing wrong." And for anyone who is even remotely familiar with the bail-bond process, the bonding agent normally requires only 10% of the stated bail. That means - oh never mind - you do the math...
You're the epitome of liberalism. Talk platitudes out of one side of your face, then go on the attack with derisive comments for those with whom you don't agree out of the other side.
In case you've forgotten, the topic here is that we're winning the War on Terror in Iraq with the help of the Iraqis and elsewhere with the help of right-thinking individuals. Clearly that precludes you and your band off disgusting foul-tempered spoiled brats.
You're all so pathetic.

bane,
How is: “Having gone into Iraq, we pretty much sparked a movement." Un-American?
I thought the idea was that being in Iraq would bring all of the terrorist there...we can fight them there instead of here...right?
“It's too bad that Repubs are more concerned with spreading American Imperialism across the globe..”
-How is that un-American, it's anti-republican, but un-American?
"We've killed more civilians than they have? We've conquered more land? We've spent more money? We've dropped more bombs? "
-How is that Un-American? maf was pointing out that after all of that the terrorist are still around, still planning, and still putting us in danger....
CJ-you're right and I won't throw out "fascist" anymore
al Sadr quoting Ted hardly makes a point about liberals being Un-American, only shows that a) these guys know how to use the media and b)a pretty wide spectrum disagrees with bush
Durbin is my senator, and what he said was idiotic and there was no excuse for it....I'll give you that one, though I don't really think Durbin is un-American, but being one of the only members of either house to speak w/out a prepared statement has some risks...like sounding un-American.
kos.....now THAT kind of talk in un-American and I won't even begin to defend him, only to say that I don't consider him a liberal...even the left has limits, and he's beyond it.
so the line from "dissent" to "un-American" is crossed when the talk goes from questioning and jabbing for answers that one believes is in the best interest of the country to "screw 'em"
But for cons any questioning of Iraq or domestic wiretapping or secrete prisons or secrete energy tasks forces, automatically labels the questioner as un-American and un-Patriotic.
Again, why? what do you believe the motive of liberals would be if they hate America? What do you believe the big master plan could be?
Posted by: Opus at April 28, 2006 09:56 PM
"Just wondering, what do you cons think the motivation is for libs? What has anyone on this board, or any other board said that would make you think they are un-American?" O'puss
O'puss I'll tell you. Its because you, Blarney2000 ond the murkyjerk all sound like your reciting the most recent pronouncements from Al Zawahiri. You've got to ask yourself when you are spouting the same rhetoric as our enemies if you don't have more in common with them than your own country. It sure sounds like it to the rest of us.

The US state department acknowledged yesterday that there is a risk of Iraq becoming a safe haven for terrorists three years after the invasion of the country.
The warning is contained in the state department's annual country reports on terrorism. The report, which suggests an increase in terrorist attacks worldwide, appears to undermine repeated claims by President George Bush that the US is winning the "war on terrorism".
Posted by: Simon Lloyd at April 28, 2006 11:16 PM
Oh yeah Blarney, lots of jail time for that class B misdemeanor. Man, you give liberals a bad name and that's hard to do. You really do need to get out of mommies basement and see how the real world works.
Opus
So, since the jihadists agree with liberals it's just a matter of a "wide range" of people disagreeing with Bush? Are you serious? The fact that liberals and al Qaeda have the same talking points doesn't make you pause at all?
Have you ever wondered what happened to the whole "at the waters edge?" It really is sad to see people more concerned with bringing down the president than defeating al Qaeda.

cj and phn...that's it? that is what you are using to say liberals are un-American...the point that the enemy is using anti-war rhetoric from the opposition party? Actually, since you have all been taken in so easily by some pretty flimsy propaganda I can see how the enemies own propaganda would affect you.
why are you so anti-liberal that you would actually say a fellow American who disagrees with you is a traitor and un-American?
can you imagine if you were the enemy? all you have is propaganda? Bush and the war are unpopular at home....what would you do? You'd try to use that to your advantage....of course someone over there obviously said...come one, that won't work, there's no way any American would be foolish enough to fall for that old trick...but hey, here we are....
bear...don't you have a bible to thump, or an impoverished tribe in West Africa to go threaten with eternal damnation if they don't convert? Uh-oh, I think someone across the street may disagree with you on something bear….better go set him straight, call the authorities…He’s a Traitor! And he must be going to Hell…

Apr 28, 2006... "Giant earthmovers have rolled into the pit of the World Trade Centre site to begin construction on the symbolic skyscraper which is replacing the twin towers destroyed on September 11th, 2001."
More than 4 1/2 years after the World Trade Center and surrounding buildings were destroyed by terrorists, Americans have finally... finally reached an agreement on what will replace them, and work has finally begun. We aren't talking about rebuilding an entire nation here either. We are talking about buildings to be built in a relatively small area of New York City.
It has been slightly more than 3 years since America liberated Iraq from Saddam Hussein, his two sons, and the tyrannical, murderous regime that controlled and brutalized that country. Iraqis have written and approved a new constitution and have formed the beginnings of a new government while trying to bring together the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds... all while fighting insurgents, terrorists, and the liberal American propaganda machine! They aren't just rebuilding a government... they are rebuilding a nation -- buildings, power, oil, ports, highways, schools, and everything else that goes with it. Compared to rebuilding the WTC, Iraq has made miraculous progress.
Who knows where they will be in another year and a half. We've been working on building the United States for more than 200 years and it is still growing and evolving.
Could America have accomplished as much in as little time? Not if the WTC is any indication!
How about a cheer and round of applause for the Iraqi people too. They deserve a little recognition for what they have done and a little less harping on the multitude of things that remain to be accomplished!!!

Opus,
RE: "...you would actually say a fellow American who disagrees with you is a traitor and un-American?"
Yes. It's the truth! The liberal's propaganda machine provides aid, comfort, encouragement, and a never ending source of anti-American propaganda to our enemies.
It's KILLING OUR TROOPS and Iraqi men, women, and children! Deny it if you like, but that doesn't change the facts.
It's not just that you liberals disagree, it's the manner in which you do it, the extremes to which you take it, the sheer hate filled attacks, and the way it is played out in the world media. Do you think the terrorists and anti-American groups around the world are stupid? No. They know how to use good old anti-American liberal propaganda to their own good, and to suit their own purposes against America. They don't even have to make the stuff up. It's freely handed to them by liberals 24/7! They know it... why don't the liberals? Because the liberals don't care as long as it suits their agenda... period! Or... are the terrorist around the world better schooled than our American educated liberals. I guess that is a possibility considering what's taught in America's schools!

AAR,
You just brought up the point I originally made.
"liberals don't care as long as it suits their agenda..."
what could you possible think that agenda would be? Why would liberals want to have soldiers killed?
how would propagand lead to the the killing of troops??? Deny it? How about you Prove it? You tell me how my saying Bush has no realistic plan for Iraq is killing anyone?
Posted by: Opus at April 29, 2006 03:16 PM
opus,
It's been explained to you and the rest of the liberals before -- many times. Will explaining it again do any good? I don't think so. Apparently liberals are incapable of understanding this or anything that involves common sense.
So why don't you just see if you can figure it out yourself. Think. It's probably a new experience for you!
The fact remains, liberal's actions are killing and injuring our troops and Iraqi citizens. We don't even hear any outrage when groups of kids or families are blown up by terrorists in Iraq, do we? Oh, I take that back, if one of our soldiers accidentally kills or injures an Iraqi citizen we do hear from the left... for days and weeks... accusing our troops of murder and torture!

Opus,
Humor? I don't need to add any more humor. The liberal comments and warped logic are already laughable enough. I'm just hoping the American people - a few anyway - will finally see through the liberal propaganda machine. If it weren't for hoping that a few might begin to understand, I wouldn't even waste my time on responding to anything liberals have to say.
If you don't understand, or you choose not to understand by now, rehashing everything again here for you and our other liberal sharpshooters won't change that. It will just give you another comment to fire one of your quick one liner at and move on to the next blog. Personally, I don't think it's that you don't get it, I think that you whole intent is solely to cast doubt to others who might get it. If you were to say you do understand, even though you might not agree, that would defeat the whole purpose of your cruising around conservative, pro-Bush, and pro-American blogs, wouldn't it? You aren't here to understand anything. You are here to make sure others don't!!!
Go back and read my and other's past comments on past threads about how anti-Bush, anti-American, anti-war, and anti-everything else from the liberal Democrats encourages terrorists and contributes to deaths and injuries of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens. It's really not difficult to comprehend. A basic understanding of human psychology would get you most of the way there!!!
By the way, were is the outrage about all of those deaths in Iraq... the thousands being blown to bits by terrorists?

-WHY DO YOU THINK WE'RE HAVING THE DEBATE? The Outrage is over you CONS saying if we bring any focus on those deaths that we're defeatists and aiding the enemy...YOU'RE the ones who get irate when those deaths are even talked about. Opus,
You are so blinded with your hatred of President Bush that you cannot see the point server posters have made to you: The over-the-top rhetoric by the left aids and abets our enemies because it gives them hope that they can succeed if they can only turn more Americans against our War on Terror efforts. As a result, even though there is no chance that they can defeat us militarily, they are holding out with the hope that the left can orchestrate another Vietnam pullout.
In order to have an intelligent debate over these issues, we must agree on a few facts:
(1) We must agree that there are Islamist terrorists affiliated with a number of terrorist organizations that have vowed to strike against the US and the West whenever and wherever they can.
(2) The best chance to defeat these terrorists is to disrupt their financial organizations, gather intelligence on their organization, membership, and plans, then kill or capture them. Simultaneously, we must create an environment in the Middle East where the people see that freedom and democracy has a brighter future than strapping on a bomb and killing your fellow man.
If you don't agree that we must stop terrorism, we have nothing to debate. You are a traitor. I would ask you to leave my country and take your vile propaganda with you. I, and millions of other Americans, voluntarily put on the uniform of the United States Armed Forces and to an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. You are a domestic enemy.
Now, I have no problems with dissent from the left over the means to achieve the goals of defeating terrorism. However, when senior leaders of the Democrat Party stand up on the Senate and House Floors and call the President a liar, without a shred of evidence. When they call for his impeachment for taking the same steps that four Presidents who preceeded him took to gather foreign intelligence. When they call for impeachment for misleading the nation, when those same leaders saw exactly the same intelligence and publically came to the same conclusion. When those leaders on the left claim that the policies which have prevented any further attacks on US soil, have freed 50,000,000 from tyranny, and have kindled the spark of democracy in the Middle East are all "failed policies". When they fail to produce a better plan for fighting terrorism. Then I deduce that their motivations are not in the interest of defeating terrorism and spreading democracy, but they are motivated by politics. They are only looking towards the next election and are doing whatever damage they can to the conservatives, to hell with the impact on the War on Terror.
The effect on the average terrorist is to deduce that the US is horribly divided over the War on Terror and they are encouraged in their fight. As a result, additional US service members are targeted and killed or wounded. Innocent Iraqi are murdered. Iraqis who have lined up to enlist into the Iraqi Security Forces so they can defent their country against these terrorist are killed.
When is the outrage by the left for these terrorist attrocities? All you see and hear from the left is how we are causing the problem and it would go away if we just left Iraq. How horribly wrong. We would surrender Iraq to the terrorists and they would become even more emboldened.
What I am looking for from the left is to drop the vicious, personal attacks against the President. It serves no purpose (other than political) to call him evil, a Hitler, incompetent, etc. All that does is encourage our enemies.
In my opinion, after 9/11 we had widespread support in combating terrorism. We lost that support, not by the actions of the President in taking the fight to the terrorists, but by the left and their endless criticism, without any substantive plan to fight and win the War on Terror.
Opus, you and your kind do encourage the terrorists. You have a negative effect on our service members morale. If you do not have something constructive to say that helps the cuase of winning the War on Terror, STFU.

Your points, 1 and 2...no disagreement, actually if you look back and some of my early posts on other boards I've made those same points.
the problem is this....you side, if I've gotten this right, thinks that since we disagree w/ the policy we're traitors who are helping the terrorist who then are embolden to kill OUR (not just yours) troops.
While our side (for lack of a better term I'll just say side) feels that going into Iraq was a waste of time, resources, international political capital, and lives and has streangthen the terrorists and given them a rallying point to kill OUR troops.
Your side continually tries to rationalize the war and Bush's decision with the same rhetoric...
1)there hasn’t been an attack since 9-11

2)freed 50,000,000 from tyranny
-that is called hypocrisy
3)kindled the spark of democracy in the Middle
East
-exactly...and these countries didn't have to be attacked for that to happen
I keep reading that there is no outrage over terrorist atrocities...but it YOU who decries any focus on the violence in Iraq...You and your kind have been complaining non-stop that our outrage aids the enemy and that we need to focus on the positive.....
Look...all other lefties aside...I was lied to, I was made to believe that Iraq was an emanate threat and after 9-11 I wasn't one for taking any chances...I really...really wanted our troops to find massive stockpiles of weapons and proof that Saddam was collaborating with terrorists, not to show that Bush was right, but to show that WE were right and justified for a pre-emptive war.
But by early '03 the questions about the pre-war intel started popping up. Starting w/ the Brits, then George Tenet comes out and says the Niger intelligence was false and it shouldn't have been used. Then the whole Halliburton no bid contacts and overcharging by the millions, then the whole lack of body armour. then David Kay and Condi Rice saying maybe the intel wasn't so great, and the reports about forged letters from the troops and the Downing Street Memo, and paying Iraqi newspapers to print favorable stories...all the while the admin keeps saying if anyone disagrees with us or questions us then they are giving aid and comfort to the enemy..THAT is why I'm so upset; I love this country and feel that volunteering for any branch of the service is the noblest act anyone could make. But to have my patriotism and support for MY military questioned because I don't feel like I was told the truth four years ago is over the line, for the President, Chaney, AAR and You...
A-10 you and your kind are worse than the terrorist, your blind faith in Bush and the party and disdain for anyone who disagrees with you is a violent blow to what this county stands for. Opus,
Did you really read my post? I emphasized that I have no problem with dissent, if you provide a viable alternative. So far, I haven't heard of a single plan put forth by the left to win the War on Terror. Your DNC Chairman even admitted publically that "since they aren't in power, they don't have to come up with alternative options or plan. That it is their job to obstruct". That's exactly the problem with the left. If you were to suggest viable alternatives, maybe we would listen to you. Instead you regurgitate false claims and attack, rather than contribute.
Lets examine this paragraph of yours:
"But by early '03 the questions about the pre-war intel started popping up. Starting w/ the Brits, then George Tenet comes out and says the Niger intelligence was false and it shouldn't have been used."
OK, but the British and other foreign intelligence agencies stand by their assessment of Iraq trying to obtain yellowcake from Niger. In fact, the report by Joe Wilson to the CIA strengthened their analysis. Then he turned around and lied about it in his NYT op-ed.
"Then the whole Halliburton no bid contacts and overcharging by the millions"
First of all, Halliburton has unique experience in many of the infrastructure rebuilding requirements. Your biggest issue is that VP Cheney was once their CEO. If he had no prior involvement with the company, would you still have an issue? Probably not. So why do you have one now?
Not as an excuse, but it happens all the time. As I understand it, when detected, the overcharging is being resolved and payments delayed until an investigation is conducted.
"then the whole lack of body armour."
They never lacked body armor. They went to war with the body armor that served them well in the First Gulf War and that was their TOE issue (That's their Table of Organization and Equipment). When it was discovered that additional ceramic plates could reduce battlefield fatalities and injuries, it was fielded. I know a member of the MI ARNG personnally (he's dating a family friend) whose life was saved by that ceramic body armor that you claim they didn't have. In every military operation, we learn and adapt.
The same can be claimed for the HMMWV. But did you know that the HMMWV was fielded as a replacement for the M151 1/4 ton truck (the "Jeep"). It was intended to be lightly armored, which was a vast improvement over no armor on the Jeep. During combat operations, the military travels in Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Abrams Tanks, both well armored, although both can be defeated with a big enough explosive. Since we had so many troops in the theater, and we are highly mobile, the terrorist quickly adapted to our operations and resorted to IED. We adapted and up-armored the HMMWV. It was not due to incompetence. It was how wars are fought.
"then David Kay and Condi Rice saying maybe the intel wasn't so great"
It wasn't so great, but only about the quantity of WMD that was stockpiled and we thought we'd find (I still think it is either buried or was secreted out of Iraq to Syria). He was still concealing WMD programs and prohibited weapons systems that we have found (along with some quantities of WMD). It doesn't change the fact that Saddam was in material breach of 17 UN Resolutions.
"and the reports about forged letters from the troops"
Sorry, I haven't heard about these.
"and the Downing Street Memo"
The big deal about the memo was the line: "the intelligence and facts were being fixed [by the US] around the policy". Some take this to mean "manipulated" to meet a preconcieved policy. OK, but then the offical US policy since 1998 had been regime change in Iraq.
When I first read the line, having experience with the British, my immediate thought was they were using the definition of "fixed" as "the intelligence and facts were being "focused" [by the US] around the policy". With that definition, there is no controversy.
"and paying Iraqi newspapers to print favorable stories"
As long as the stories were accurate, what's the problem. One of the goals of a military operation is to balance the propaganda the enemy is releasing. I'd rather them paying for favorable stories than unfavorable ones.
"..all the while the admin keeps saying if anyone disagrees with us or questions us then they are giving aid and comfort to the enemy"
Actually, I don't remember anyone from the administration making such a comment. Its mostly the conservative pundits. But, as I posted above, go ahead and disagree, but then give a better solution. When you work to undermine the offical policy of a elected government, you are aiding and giving confort to the enemy. Don't do it, and there is no problem.
"I don't feel like I was told the truth four years ago"
The evidence against Saddam and Iraq has been in plain sight for years. Congress overwhelming passed the Iraqi Liberation Act and the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq. They saw the evidence that Iraq was in clear violation of the UN Resolutions. Read the two laws. They clearly list the litany of UN Resolution violations and human rights violations by Saddam and Iraq.
How can you say you were lied to when every Democrat leader was saying exactly the same thing that President Bu
Finally people are starting to admit that we are actually winning the war on terror. I've been saying this for a while now
shoe,
I've been saying we've won since 2005 - as soon as Iraqis were able to approve a Constitution, the terrorists were defeated...it just became a matter of time; whether or not they'd stay and all be killed, or the survivors would eventually leave...looks like some are leaving, some staying to be killed...six of one, half dozen of the other...
And I thank you for it, Mark. It is people like you that make me proud to be an American.
We haven't won anything.
maf, Barney -
No, we haven't won.
The moonbats on this board seem overjoyed we are winning the war against the barbarians. I guess we must protect these cut and run apologists as well. As stated before, these idiots don't want W or the USA to prevail, state they want to live in Canada. Unfortunately it is left to us to protect them.
What a pitiful lot. Perhaps they can engage Mohammad in Dante's 9th level.
Peace.
"Having gone into Iraq, we pretty much sparked a movement."
As soon as I read something so patently absurd there's no reason to read any further. I guess this America hater never heard of 9-11, or the USS Cole, or Khobar towers, or the first World Trade Center bombing, or the African Embassy bombings. Where do these intellectual midgets come from?
As for maf53 and Barney, we know you're rooting for al Qaeda. Notice how they try and spin it so that their team is winning?
Hey Maf, answer this one question for me- how many of those attacks were inside the United States?
CJ,
No, maf53 and Barney aren't trying to spin it so that THEIR team is winning.
Republican Aficionado
Problem is that maf53 and Barney think that Bush was responsible for the terrorist attacks on 9-11. They call it LIHIP (let it happen on purpose) or MIHOP (made it happen on purpose) They don't believe terrorists were responsible.
Oh and libs will say "YOU CAN'T CALL US UNPATRIOTIC!!!"
"Notice how they try and spin it so that their team is winning?" -CJ
The intellectually vacancy of leftists like maf53 astounds me! Can you actually believe he thinks we should not have fought the German army, we should have only gone after Hitler. How does a mind become so perverse?
The intellectual dishonesty of fascists like CJ astounds me. Does he argue any points? Of course not. Instead, makes remarks about Hitler & the German army, as if they were relevant.
Keep up the good work, CJ. You would do Doofus Bush very proud. Didn't you already hear that the Press Secretary position was filled though? Run along ...
Once again not a coherent arguement by maf53. It really is a shame there aren't any intelligent leftists here to have a debate with, we only have America haters.
It's called "Garbage in, Garbage out (GIGO).
dbogdan
I think it starts much earlier than that. It's got to be their parents too. We all grew up with liberal teachers, especially in college but for most of us we grew up and developed critical thinking skills early in life. I believe left wing fanatics like maf53 were not taught those skills by her parents. You can't lay all of their educational deficiencies at the teachers feet.
"Case in point: Mr. Jay Bannish (sp?) who was supposed to be teaching geography at a Colorado High School. He was audiotaped delivering an anti-Bush, anti-America rant instead of ostensibly showing people where the country of Iraq could be located on a map."
And CJ, you are what is known as a Nationalist, plain and simple. In the same vain as a Racist, Sexist, etc. You get the idea. It's quite sad.
What's sad is your vicious hatred for America. Anyone who would say any kind thing about this country would be considered a fascist to you. That is what's sad and pathetic.
Yes, we read the transcript, and most of us know that Palestine has never been in Egypt. Or did you miss the part that the teacher’s rant was geographically and historically wrong?
do you just blindly defend anything anti-American, factual or not?
“In this different kind of war, we may never sit down at a peace table,” Bush said. “But make no mistake about it, we are winning and we will win.” George Bush ~ August 31, 2004
CJ,
You're right about not laying all the blame on the educational system.
"You go to the polls with what you have, not with what you'd like to have..."
dbog-dan, you should run for office, we need passionate people of principle to make this government work. A citizen government made up of volunteers who go to Washington for two or four years, and make a difference! Or, you stand on the sidelines carping like maf.
I'd vote for you.
I appreciate the endorsement, Bane, but I'm afraid that there's something in the water they drink in Washington, D.C.
They all seem like honest, hardworking and ethical candidates. Then they get within a mile of the Potomac, and it's Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde...
I've seen the movie, "The Candidate." I wouldn't want to go through all of that.
One player in the war on terrorism is no longer. Rush just got arrested for prescription drug fraud.
Bane
You do realize, don't you, that Bush & his buddies are drinking from the same trough.
Barney,
Yawn ...
That's what you have to contribute? Taking pleasure in someone else's misery. I can always count on compassionate liberals.
Ah, the only thing that makes left wing kooks happier than a dead American soldier is a Conservative in trouble with the law.
Just wondering, what do you cons think the motivation is for libs? What has anyone on this board, or any other board said that would make you think they are un-American?
rep afi wrote: It’s too bad that liberals are more concerned with trying to impeach our President instead of attacking those who killed our own citizens on September 11th...
Where did you come up with that? What does disagreeing about Iraq have to do with 9-11? Since when is hateful propaganda considered patriotic?
cj wrote: What’s sad is your vicious hatred for America
-Again, how is disagreeing with Iraq vicious hatred for America?
I'll tell you what is Un-American...attempting to make anyone who disagrees with you a look like a traitor, blindly following anyone and getting pissy when there is dissent. Without dissent we're no better than North Korea...
if you all really think anyone who disagrees with Bush and they way has gone about finding and killing those responsible for 9-11 is a traitor then you should be embarrassed for yourselves and think about starting a fascist commune down Mexico way
Opus
As soon as you use the word "fascist" you've lost the arguement
opie,
You mean anti-American statements like these?
“Having gone into Iraq, we pretty much sparked a movement."
“It's too bad that Repubs are more concerned with spreading American Imperialism across the globe..”
"We've killed more civilians than they have? We've conquered more land? We've spent more money? We've dropped more bombs? "
Sounds like a real patriot.

Sorry to make you want to cry... You're such a compassionate guy...
By the way Opus, what did you think when al Sadr (that fat imman in Iraq) quoted Ted Kennedy's speech on the Senate floor bashing Bush? Does it not make you stop and think when you can't distinguish the talking points of al Qaeda and the DNC? Were you proud when Dick Durbin smeared our troops by comparing them to Gulags, Pol Pot, and Nazi's? Did you not stop and think when bin Laden quoted Michael Moore and the whole "My Pet Goat" silliness right before the election?
Did you not stop and think when "Kos" said "screw 'em" when those 4 fellow Americans who were protecting a medical convoy were burned alive and strung up on a bridge?
You actually seem fairly intelligent so when do you think that line is crossed from "dissent" to "un-American?" Or is there a line for democrats?
If it is such good news, maybe I should get arrested?
Innocent people get arrested and pay big fines all the time? Why wont druggie Rush fight for his honor and dignity?
Actually, barneyg2000, the news is pretty good.
Since this is off-topic, I'll just post the pertinent part that was just posted on the Drudge Report:

Barney doesn't get out his mothers basement much. I got arrested because we had a football pool at my bar. It was a strip card with numbers 0-9. $5 a line, so there was a whopping $30 in the pool. On top of that my bail was $20,000. I swear I can't remember sleeping with Chiefs wife. :)
Anyway, they'll arrest you for anything and then really stick it to you with bail. That was in December of 2004 and I'm still going to court for it. May 11th is the next court date. I'd rather have what Limbaugh got than what I got!
Woops, should be $50 not %30
CJ, I'm glad to know that you got $30K to blow for doing nothing wrong.
I got a lot more than 30k. Some of us don't live in our mothers basement all night long and play keyboard commando
CJ, "Woops, should be $50 not %30" WHAT?
I may be in the basement, but you are going to jail.
Say hi to Buba.
Have you ever wondered what happened to the whole "at the waters edge?" It really is sad to see people more concerned with bringing down the president than defeating al Qaeda.
just my 2 cents worth! Opie, we wouldn't be calling you guys unamerican & traitors if you would stop coming up with unfounded conspiracy theories & start to talk like you want to win the war on terror!
What the hell am I thinking, this is opie we are talking to, you know the guy that is more scared of christian conservatives than he is Islamoterrorists!
Simon, you have to wage war before you can win one! With the two front war(one in the middle east, one right here on the homefront) it may seem like we are not winning according to spin & spun statistics, but you talk to the guys and gals on the ground and you know without a shadow of a doubt, WE ARE WINNING!
cj and phn...that's it? that is what you are using to say liberals are un-American...the point that the enemy is using anti-war rhetoric from the opposition party?
"that is what you are using to say liberals are un-American...the point that the enemy is using anti-war rhetoric from the opposition party?"
Yeah, Duh! Geeze, it's not that hard to understand.
I guess I should explain. Here at work I couldn't log onto under my usual name CJ so I had to set up another name. So, whenever someone sees Capitalist Infidel means that CJ is at work. :)
AAR
"Yeah, Duh! Geeze, it's not that hard to understand"
how can you knowingly get sucked into the enemies propaganda...then use that propaganda to prop up your own argument...are you kidding me? Not only is that un-American, but now you're giving aid and comfort to the enemy, you're just playing into thier plan...and you seem to be pretty comfortable with it...
It's not me you idiot, it's the fighters killing our soldiers. Oh man, you're just not bright enough. I guess your seething hatred for this country has blinded you to any and all logic. Too bad too cause it looked like there might be some hope for you.
Simon, you have to wage war before you can win one! With the two front war(one in the middle east, one right here on the homefront) it may seem like we are not winning according to spin & spun statistics, but you talk to the guys and gals on the ground and you know without a shadow of a doubt, WE ARE WINNING!
BearmanUSMC, I am not saying we are losing the War of Terror, our own State Department did. Why would the State Department put a negative spin on their own report? Oh, and the guys on the ground want to come home.
Opus,
RE: "...you would actually say a fellow American who disagrees with you is a traitor and un-American?"
AAR
It's not me you idiot,
your seething hatred for this country
and it's done...whenever you cons can't come up with anything sensable to say you resort to name calling instead of answering the question...
Why is the stereotype of cons always low brow, uneducated and ignorant? Wow, that's a tough one to figure out....good thing the terrorist haven't caught on as to how to best utilize that ignorance...oh wait…I just read cj’s posts again….they have figured it out....way to go cj, but when they ask you to wear that backpack to work..do me a favor...as a liberal for advice first.
"you're just playing into thier plan...and you seem to be pretty comfortable with it..."

Uhhhhh Hello!!???!! the enemy is using YOUR propoganda to incite islamist wackos and eurotrash against us. They are doing this by QUOTING YOUR LEADERS such as dingy Harry, et al. You morons are giving them the fodder by continuing to be useful idiots. I'm sure you believe you have the best intentions by your "anti-war" rhetoric. But the intentions are unimportant its the results that count.
While you've been focusing in on your feelings, President Bush and our brave military have freed 50,000,000 people from tyranny.
And all we get from you and your ilk is the same crap that we here from Al Zawahiri. Someday when you grow up maybe you'll figure it out. In the meantime continue to wallow in your ignorance.
AAR,
You just brought up the point I originally made.
"liberals don't care as long as it suits their agenda..."
what could you possible think that agenda would be? Why would liberals want to have soldiers killed?
how would propagand lead to the the killing of troops??? Deny it? How about you Prove it? You tell me how my saying Bush has no realistic plan for Iraq is killing anyone?
opus,
It's been explained to you and the rest of the liberals before -- many times.
AAR
phnxbmed
and now YOU'RE doing it...feeding right into the same propaganda...
here's a tip, read all of the posts before commenting...
freed 50,000,000 people from tyranny
-Hypocrite
AAR
humor me...
if you're going to throw around accusations that I'm un-American and what I say is killing our troops you'd better be able to back it up with an intelligent answer....or are you just throwing around the party line to cover your own ignorance?
Opus
You're post to me is so incoherent and fragmented as to be unreadable. I suppose to faux intellecutals such as yourself you think that "cons" are uneducated but to the rest of us it's liberals who are intellectually vacant.
Opus,
AAR
Well simon, you are certainly a brain child!
#1. It's the state department bro, duh! Oh and they never ever said we were losing the war on terror! They are statistics man, that's all just statistics!
#2. There are only a very few select crazy soldiers out there that would not want to come home at a time of war! Difference is they would go anyways regardless of wether they "WANT" to or not! Don't ya just love an all VOLUNTEER military!
Oh yah, and they just keep joining and keep going over there! To you this is stupidity, to me, bravery, honor you know all that good stuff!
Nice try tho! Keep em comin!
AAR,
You are aware of the term "humor me" aren’t you?
so no answer huh? just more of the party line...I’ve asked the same question 4 times now, no one has given anything close to an answer, always side stepping....it must take a lot of courage to throw out names and accusations w/out backing them up.
If it were all up to you we'd all be told everything was just peacy over there.
Infidel,
good post, you sure put me in my place...
Opus,
You are so blinded with your hatred of President Bush that you cannot see the point server posters have made to you: The over-the-top rhetoric by the left aids and abets our enemies because it gives them hope that they can succeed if they can only turn more Americans against our War on Terror efforts.
Has anyone done any counter-protests? Or know anyone who has/does? I have a few ideas for Psychological Warfare that we on the right can do here. I am researching the flags of Al Quaeda in Iraq, Martyr Flags, pictures of Osama, Al Zarqawi,Al Zwahiri etc. to make signs/ flags/effigies to treat as they treat our Flag/leaders!
I might not use some of the flags because of the symbol on them which says some thing about ("There is no god but Allah...") or some such. I'm going to have to study on whether it will inflame non- Al-qaeda or send the right message to my intended audience in the Muslim world.
If you know anyone who might know the Muslim psyche please e-mail me at warrior8mfco@netscape.com, but please use an obvious tagline as I kill most of my e-mail without reading any of it.

Thank you A-10, sincerely...that was a concise well thought out answer and you have a number of valid points, that's all I've been looking for all day.
1)there hasn’t been an attack since 9-11
-that is called specious reasoning
You know as well as I that the dims don't have a chance in November much less in '08 and the chance of the ultra right putting someone in who could lead us down a don't ask just follow path gets to be even more realistic.

Opus,
Did you really read my post?
