Despite Democrats forecasting doom and gloom, new polls show an overwhelming majority of seniors (84%) are satisfied with the new coverage, and a majority say they are enjoying significant cost savings, according to a press release from the U.S. Chamber Of Commerce
According to the poll,
- 91 Percent Say Their Plan Is Convenient To Use At Their Pharmacy.
- 90 Percent Say They Understand How Their Plan Works And How To Use It.
- 85 Percent Say Their Monthly Premium And Co-Payments Are Affordable.
- 85 Percent Say Their Plan Covers The Medicines They Need.
- 77 Percent Say They Would Recommend Their Plan To Others.
- 78 Percent Say They Are Happy With The Amount Of Coverage They Have.
- 56 Percent Say They Are Paying $30 Or Less Per Month For Prescription Drug Coverage.
A Kaiser Family Foundation Poll also got positive news
This April 2006 tracking poll finds that most seniors enrolled in a Medicare drug plan are satisfied with their plan and are not having trouble getting the drugs they need. Most seniors enrolled in plans reported filling at least one prescription, and the vast majority of them -- more than 8 in 10 -- reported no problems getting their prescriptions filled.

My mother signed up for the program and has been highly satisfied. She was amazed at the savings when she first started using the card. President Bush has done a great thing, helping all our parents get cheaper drugs. President Bush, who has a backbone of steel has taken heat from both sides for this, all BS, and has added this to his amazing string of accomplishments. Don't everyone thank President Bush all at once.

Yes, all well and good, but there is no such thing as a free lunch. Where is the money coming from for this new entitlement? Has anyone thought to ask the grandchildren how satisfied they are with the debt load they are going to be straddled with?
George Bush has taken away a Democratic campaign issue... but at what fiscal cost to future generations? On this issue he was more "compassionate" and less "conservative."
