Funny how they always say "we should fund this, we should fund that," when the "we" they're talking about is WE THE PEOPLE.

I'm tired of this birth control/abortion crap--abstinence works, every time it's tried. And it don't cost a thing!!!

Maybe that's why libs are anti-abstinence--they can't get any tax revenue from it...

Birth control leads to abortions? Wow.

Posted by: SeesThroughIt at April 18, 2006 09:53 PM

We the people must be to lazy to give a doller to help any one, or is that we the right wing people.
And Abstonance doesnt cure rape. Maybe you conservatives only support abstanence cause you can't get layed.

We aren't anti-abstinence, we know that lots of kids won't wait. That isn't being negative, and that isn't because they aren't christians, its because their bodies are naturally pushing them towards sex for procreation. Dozens of studies have shown that Abstinence programs don't have any effect on reducing teenage sex, and actually hamper them because when they do have sex they don't use a condom. Europe has a much lower teenage pregnancy rate, and they are much more open about sex. I'm not saying that it is this way for sure, but I think if you make something mysterious and forbidden, you are only more prone to do it. That's just how it works with me most of the time.

I think this nation should do virtually everything it can to avoid abortions, at any cost. What is the acceptible dollar value on the unimagineable suffering of a late-term abortion?

Religion is NOT the answer. Numbers 5:27 describes a priest administering an abortion to an unfaithful wife, showing the Bible thinks ADULTERY is a greater sin than abortion.

Read the Bible passage here and scroll to the footnotes if you don't know what thighs waste away means.

If the Bible was really pro-life, it would punish the adulterers, but would not cause a miscarriage, and would spare the life of the unborn child.

Nagging authority figures are also NOT the answer, as the virginity pledge drives statistically result in not only pregnancies, but STDs as well. The actual study done at Yale is HERE.

Criminalizing abortion might work as a deterrent as long as you jailed the doctor, the mother AND the FATHER of the aborted fetus. Just the doctor doesn't work because the mother has nothing to lose. Just the mother doesn't work because the GUY "hooking up" has nothing to lose.

The most effective first step to preventing as many abortions as possible is universal birth control. Anyone who wants it gets it, no stigma attached. AND abstinence and STD education, again, with NO STIGMA.

The next step is to fund research into safe AND fully-reversible sterilization. "Sterilization" has such a harsh connotation because it implies never having babies again. But when it's fully reversible at the person's (male and female) will, it represents the ultimate anti-abortion position, because you are truly "choosing" to conceive, and best prevents the suffering of the one who has no say in the lovelife/willpower/rapist-victim behavior of the adults involved, the fetus.

The argument that all this would encourage women to become sluts is laughable. It takes a LOT more than a condom in your pocket to encourage adults to consent. Your grandmother didn't become a slut after her hysterectomy. I find this whole assumption offensive to every moral and decent woman I know, that the mere presence of birth control has anythng to do with their morality.

We adults can argue all we want, but babies are dying while we debate. It's time to provide the ounce of prevention that best avoids the suffering of innocents.

Now I invite anyone on this board who is my moral superior and has not sinned to begin casting stones.

Birth control leads to abortions? Wow.

No, but reading comprehension leads to success later in life. You're in trouble...

Posted by: keefer [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 19, 2006 05:40 AM

And Abstonance doesnt cure rape. Maybe you conservatives only support abstanence cause you can't get layed.

Maybe you liberals support poor writing skills because you're all too stupid to apply yourselves in school.

Duante, you must've gone to school with some of the other trolls here. Maybe one of them can decipher what you attempted to write.

Get off the rape argument; it doesn't result in many pregnancies. Also, the debate is over funding, not whether something is right or wrong. Reading comprehension is something they also teach in school--maybe you should go back...

Ah, back to the point. Here it is: The Libs think it's the government's responsibility to fund everything? They whine about the government being "in our bedrooms," but here they are - in our bedrooms. Hypocritical Hillary.

Posted by: Don at April 22, 2006 11:17 PM

The fact of the matter is we have(America) abused welfare to the point that it is has given many women the excuse for abortion.

Women who can walk on two feet are are playing possum when they say they cannot afford to take care of their child, bologney america has gone to far with a free ride, they need to start getting off the couch and getting the elbow grease to going and stop whining around about funding to raise their children.

They want to tell lies about financial issues so they can go out and fool around some more and have another abortion and another and another, SHAME ON AMERICA!!!!!.

It's hard to believe that we have let laziness get in the way of little innocent babies!!!!.

GOD HELP AMERICA!!!!.
