Retail Sales Rebound In March

Most of don't need any more convincing that the economy is in great shape... But since there are many liberal disbelievers, I might as well, continue to blog about more good economic news...

Consumers returned to their buying ways in March, further evidence that the economy expanded at an especially brisk pace in the first quarter.
[…]
Together with figures from January, when warm weather encouraged a 2.9% jump in sales, yesterday's report bolsters the view that consumer spending is recovering strongly from a lull late last year. 'This caps off a very strong quarter for consumption spending,' said Brian Bethune, an economist with Global Insight, a Massachusetts-based research and consulting firm.

Hey I have a great impression for you guys..Who am I?

"But...but...but"

A liberal!

Exactly...

But who is going to pay back the Bush Deficit of $9 Trillion?

But deficits don't really matter, no do they?

Wade

I had a comment left on my blog left by a lib that purported to say the economy was in trouble because income (when adjusted for inflation) is stagnant.

I am sure this guy did a search for "bad economy" or something of that nature on google and found a lone stat to help beef up his argument. The problem with it is that he neglects 90% of the recently released economic data.

Wade,

Actually, we've got a plan for that - we're going to tax the rich in order to pay down the deficit...we're going to increase taxes by 25% in the 100 highest wealth zip codes in the United States.

Fair, right? Of course, this will mostly take a bite out of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Hollywood, Manhattan, Boston, etc, etc, etc...but fair is fair, right? And you lefties always think the rich should pay more, don't you?

Mark,
I like it, call it a latte tax!

Posted by: Bane of Liberals' Existence [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 14, 2006 07:45 PM

Call it the limousine liberal, latte, and hybrid vehicle tax.

Posted by: Tina at April 14, 2006 08:21 PM

Come on you guys!

A richest zip code tax?

That's not fair!

With liberals, it's always SOMEBODY ELSE'S money this is taxed and spent...

Posted by: dbogdan [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 14, 2006 08:35 PM

Are you for the plan, before you were against the plan?

I want to revise my previous comment, call it the limousine liberal, latte, hyrbid vehicle, and SUV tax.

Posted by: Tina at April 14, 2006 08:55 PM

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like it...

You see, whenever our liberal friends suggest taxing the rich for some good purpose, they never propose taxing wealth, only income.

This means that our liberals are always failing to tax the vast liberal fortunes of Ted Kennedy, George Soros, John Kerry, Jay Rockefeller, etc, etc, etc...since their money is all tied up in property and various tax-shelter investments, its all safe even if they put the marginal rate up to 75%, like it was once upon a time.

How about we just demand $100,000 for each house in excess of their primary residence?

ANd when this same debt existed during the CLinton years, whose was it?

Deficit as a proportion of the budget is actually LOWER than it usually is historically right now.

Debt is different from Deficit.

Learn your economic terms before using them,.

Also learn your history. THat is all.
