On the surface, that would seem like a good idea... for Republicans.

If Senator Joe Lieberman were no longer officially a Democrat, perhaps he would be even more inclined to vote with Republicans on even more issues than he does now. Would that be any worse than some of our RINOs (Republican In Name Only)?

I haven't studied all of Joe Lieberman's views, but at least he would be more supportive of President Bush and America on defense and security.

I can think of at least one Republican who I would replace with Joe Lieberman right now, even with his Joe's liberal views!

The only way Joe-mentum runs as an independent is if he loses, or feels he will lose, the Democratic Primary.

That could happen -- it might be a good thing for Democrats too.

Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Liberman is considered one of the last sane democrats. If the he loses the primary or better yet, leaves the party and declares as an independent, it will just confirm to the rest of the country that the defeatocrats have gone over the cliff.

Being considered "sane" by someone that apparently can't spell "Democrats" is hardly something to hang one's hat on.

Oh wait, I get it, "defeatocrats." How old do you have to be before you outgrow (what passes for) undergraduate humor?

Has Joe Lieberman ever been a Democrat? He goes beyond being a DINO. He is more like a political transvestite.*

Good riddance Joe. Don't let the provervial door hit you in the butt.

This is likely to hurt him quite a bit in the primary, too. He was already having a hard time convincing his constituents he was a Democrat, now it's going to be a bit more difficult.

phnxbmed: CT Republicans agree with you. That's why among them, he has a 70% approval rating. Much lower among CT Democrats. He was even endorsed by Rep Chris Shays (R-CT).

Salve,

If a staunch liberal in the classic sense like Lieberman has no place in your Democratic Party, then you've got some serious problems.

We'll take him - he's a patriot. If it takes us having to put up with a bit more social spending, then so be it...
