Makes no differenced to me. I didn't watch her on TV and I canceled my subscription to Ladies Home Journal because she was "gracing" the cover far to many times.
I would guess the major networks see this as a ratings boost. Any controversy equals more viewers equals more ad revenue. I am surprised at the coverage this is receiving on the cable news circuit.

I really never cared for Katie.....She is just a bimbo who loves her celebrityism. Sorta like Paris Hilton. Avoid watching her now and probaly will continue to do so in the future. She ain'r MY cup of tee....but Matt isn't either. I hope they can get SOMEONE personable on NBC now!

Who's Katie Couric?
I couldn't care less who Katie Couric is or where she goes to work!
I don't watch the MSM news anyway. I watch Fox Network News, and I won't be switching to CBS to watch Katie or any other "celebrity" they bring over in an effort to drag themselves up from the bottom of the rating's barrel.
Perhaps if CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC (and AL JAZEERA too) would try some balanced, objective, and patriotic pro-America reporting, their ratings would improve solely because people could believe and trust what they report. They haven't given me any indication, however, that they even know what balanced, objective, and fair reporting really is.
Until then Fox Network News is the best and only choice in television news for me!
Actually, though, if I really want to understand both sides of an issue, I listen to Rush Limbaugh. Not only does Rush report on what the MSM is saying, he provides an analysis of their reports and gives his listeners the other side of the issues too!!! I find Rush both informative and entertaining on a broad range of topics, not just political issues. Some may find him a little arrogant an boasting at times, but I ignore that as part of the show; besides, he's earned that right in my book!
I would highly recommend Rush Limbaugh to anyone who doesn't listen to him already. Even liberals listen and call in to his show. That way they can learn what and how the "other side" is thinking so they can better plan their own media attacks!
And no, this is not a "paid endorsement" for Rush Limbaugh. Rush wouldn't have the slightest idea who I am.

Who watches network news anymore? Who watches network TV anymore, for that matter?

I couldn't care less what that little leftist twit does or says. She's non-news.

Yawn....
Katie Couric is a waste of airtime. Mark my words...the struggling CBS news will go down the tubes even further....to the point where they will be asking Dan Rather to come back!
I am always taken back to the line in a song played on Rush Limbaugh's show in the early 90's sung to the tune 'Bette Davis' Eyes"...."You know, Katie Couric bought his lies...He's got Billy Clinton Lies"!

Because she is PERKY!
Anyway, this is going for both Couric and Viera - anytime someone makes a BIG change they bomb - it's like a sitcom actor leaving their sitcom and doing something new, it's not the same.
Jane Pauley left and where is she today?
Bryant Gumbel where is he really, I know outer space but...
So Katie's "height of her career" is over, it was on the Today show and Meredith will bomb on the Today show.
You will see!~

I'm not going to do any name-calling here. I'll just say I'm too busy watching the "O'Reilly Factor" to bother.

this is to AAR...
Fox news network is at the complete other end of the spectrum as the other news networks you listed. They claim to report fair and balanced news, when really they are just a talking head for Bush and his administration. I am not saying that some of the other news networks are unlike FOX. There are those networks that are very left-wing.
It is impossible to find fair and objective news. Everyone has their opinions and everyone wants to express them. It's not how news should be.

This is all "Inside Baseball". It's just like those events inside the Beltway that send all the political elites into a tizzy that the rest of us yawn at. This is a big deal to the MSM, so they're covering it like it's a big deal to the rest of us. Most of America is say, "Katie who?"
It's amazing people so divorced from what most of us think is important can pretend to decide what we should see and hear.

Katie Couric is still alive?

Matt
You'll have to be patient with the masses who think the Couric event is the beginning and end of life - we live in a culture that worships celebrity, among other things -such as American Idol. With mmore people having degrees than ever before -this stuff merely reflects how poor our education really is. Not too many are elevated as a result!

For one, i'm going to agree with the hard-core Chimpy lovers on this site. Do you really care if Katie moves over to CBS? She's an airhead.

Non-news. Must be a slow news week. Or more likely the "inside baseball" (Thank you David) crowd think it's news and hence think everyone should hear about it.
