Jumping the Shark in a Big Way

Can you get any more "media driven personality" than this? (From NRO's The Corner)

She's averaging just two days per month here [her apartment in the Berkeley Hills]. The next morning she will fly off again, the surreal star of what is -- depending largely on one's political perspective -- either an epic tragedy or a farce. After stops for protests in New Orleans and Washington, D.C., she will breakfast in Manhattan with actress Susan Sarandon, who is set to portray her in a biopic movie. A crew will film Sheehan for a weekly reality series on the Sundance Channel. Her letters to President Bush inspired "Peace Mom," a one-woman monologue show in London. A memoir is due to her publisher April 1.

Its all for the good, of course - the more Sheehan, the better the GOP chances in November. But, come on!, does anyone still want to say that she's a "grieving mother"? For crying out loud, she's become a prop - a two dimensional figure to be trotted out whenever a lefty wants to do something in the line of anti-liberation activities. She's got Sarandon portraying her for a movie! Think about that - she's about to be portrayed in a movie while she's still actively engaged in the events the movie will portray...I guess Hollywood figures that Sheehan doesn't do her "Sheehan" well enough and so a professional faker is needed....

Here's the challenge: do you think the left can get any more absurd than this?

Yes, the left can and will get more absurd than this, because they are losing and have no actual plans for any of the issues of the day. Their only strategy is being against all Bush is for, and this will yeild them nothing. So long as the have no ideas, and only criticize they will keep losing and become more and more shrill.

God bless, and keep on truckin.

I am disappointed that she has chosen to go "Hollywood". There seems to be this obsession to connect real life with show biz in the USA. I think it will lessen the effect of her message. On the other hand, who knows, if people who never follow politics get to know her story through a Hollywood movie, it might bring more sympathizers to her cause.

with Susan S, about to make a movie about Sheehan, I doubt she's jumped the shark. You'll be saying she's jumped the shark this time next year too.

Bonus points for the Fonzie Reference though....

However I think that term should be applied to Tom Cruise "Jumping the Couch".

Oh, I think there’s some absurdity left in the Democratic Party Mark. Remember we have until November for this current round of (do what ever it takes to win) campaigning.

As far as “IrrelevantWood” goes, they haven’t received any of my hard earned money for a long time now.

She's a self parody.

How about Michael Moore storming the white house?

Storm the White House
Multi-Day Event, Beginning March 15, come when you can and stay as long as you can — we are taking over the White House until they leave.

Move-on.org unable to beat Bush, now after AOL instead.
If an "email tax" existed when MoveOn began, we never would have gotten off the ground—indeed, AOL's proposal will hurt every membership group, regardless of political affiliation.
In essence, this is going to block every AOL subscriber suffering from any form of cancer from receiving potentially life-saving information they may not be able to get from any other source, simply because a non-profit like ACOR—which serves more than 55,000 cancer patients and caregivers every day—cannot afford to pay the fee.1

I am wondering if this will be a TV movie and if so, what network will carry it. I don't see this doing too well in theatres if they go that route. Susan Sarandon has successfully alienated half the nation and therefore half the movie going market because of her leftist lunacy.

As for Sheehan, I feel sorry for her, but she is completely ignorant of the true nature of radical islam. Completely!

Posted by: Josh at March 19, 2006 06:19 PM

First of all, Sheehan has no message. She only parrotts the spew from others.

"There seems to be this obsession to connect real life with show biz in the USA."

That obsession only lies with the left.

"if people who never follow politics get to know her story through a Hollywood movie,"

"Her story" will be so far fetched by the time that movie is produced, even Sheehan won't recognize herself. One more time the left is using her as a tool.

Seriously, is Saradon and others finding it THAT hard to get a job or what? Why would you feel the need to play the part of a haggard old hasbeen in search of another 15 minutes of fame. Sheehan is laughed at where ever she goes, except Hollywood. Another example of how out of touch Hollywood is.

Canadian,

Do you really think it'll gin up more support for the left when their "face" becomes a lady who thinks "the Jews" are behind the whole liberation of Iraq?

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 19, 2006 08:08 PM

Mark

I don't know. Are you speaking of Sarandan? I've never heard this before. She's against the occupation in Iraq, I know that. As for the other, I've never had the opportunity to hear her say that.

Posted by: Canadian Observer at March 19, 2006 08:35 PM

You think it's a joke to call her a grieving mother after two years? You think there's a statute of limitations on mourning the kid you raised who got blown to pieces? Who the Hell are you to time grief? You wouldn't dare if you weren't irritated with the woman, if your politics didn't require it.

That's the problem with the ruling party-- even the most human things are nothing compared to winning. You Republicans are a bunch of bloodthirsty a**holes willing to joke about and dismiss the most potent tragedy when it's convenient to your cause. You make me sick. I pray to the God that we have offended that should you ever lose a loved one someone offers you love and pity, because finally you'll see what your venal little leader has done to our kids to boost his polls and get to call himself a "war president." God, you people make me sad.

Posted by: bob at March 19, 2006 11:41 PM

Bob,

Actually, we make you quite angry, not sad...and you should really look into the bitterness you carry around.

That said: You don't grieve by going on an endless media binge.

Sorry, she's bogus.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 20, 2006 01:37 AM

Canadian,

No, that is Sheehan...though Sarandon is just dumb enough to believe it, too.

The more Sheehan gets into the news, the more things like Feingold's censure motion get around...the more the anti-liberation people make themselves known, the better it is for the GOP.

This November, the left is going to find out just where the majority of Americans are.

Re: Cindy Sheehan

Can the Right get any more clueless and callous than this?:

" . . .does anyone still want to say that she's a "grieving mother"? "

YOU lose a child - for any reason - and then let someone question whether you are still a grieving parent. What is WRONG with you?!?

Always nice to see the true colors of "compassionate conservatism" shining through.

Posted by: Jay at March 20, 2006 12:56 PM

According to the Internet Movie Database, Susan Sarandon is not involved in a movie about Cindy Sheehan, either filming or in post or pre-production. Can you provide a cite for the information on the film? Not saying it's not true, but IMDB is usually pretty up to date.

Posted by: Jeanette at March 20, 2006 04:16 PM

I'm a pretty liberal individual, but even *I* think Cindy Sheehan is an attention whore who just needs to sit down and shut the fuck up already. She's clearly more interested in having people pay attention to her, as opposed to paying attention to her message. The sooner she shuts her big mouth, the better!

Posted by: n. nescio at March 20, 2006 06:52 PM

Jay, you said: "Can the Right get any more clueless and callous than this?"

Yes, Jay, we could. We could act and speak like some of the democrats. We could accuse our troops of being incompetent, being terrorists and saying that their mission is worthless. We could say that they are babykillers. We could say that the country they serve isn't worth dieing for. We could say that their fallen commrades were too stupid to get another job so they enlisted.

Sure, we could be more callous, but we gave up being democrats along time ago.

If you think Sarandon is being sympathtic to Sheehan because Casey Sheehan died, you are naive. Sheehan is simply a tool for the hollywood agend. They don't give a damn about Casey.

"I'm a pretty liberal individual". You could have fooled me.

Look over there at the shiney keys! Susan Sarandon! Cindy Sheehan! Hillary Clinton fer christsakes! Pay no attention to rampant corruption and failed policies of Bush administration and the Republican congress! Look at the shiney keys!
