Harry Belafonte's Anti-American Road Trip

What is it with our leftists? It seems they save their most outrageous statements for when they are outside the United States:

CARACAS, Venezuela - The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush "the greatest terrorist in the world" on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday. Some in the group attended Chavez's television and radio broadcast Sunday.

"No matter what the greatest tyrant in the world, the greatest terrorist in the world, George W. Bush says, we're here to tell you: Not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of the American people ... support your revolution," Belafonte told Chavez during the broadcast.

He is right, there are millions of Americans fool enough to support Chavez' carbon copy of Castro's anti-human tyranny in Cuba - they constitute the American left, and they make up the energetic base of the Democratic Party these days. What we have here is three Americans, Belafonte, West and Glover who have made very nice lives for themselves by benefit of being born American, tranvelling to a foreign land to laud a tyrant and call the President of the United States a terrorist.

Tell ya what, Harry, why don't you stay in Venezuela with your pet tyrant? We don't need mean spirited ingrates like you.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2006 10:02 PM

Hugo Chavez is a terrorist-harboring, tyrannical thug. Harry Belafonte should give up his U.S. citizenship and move to Venezuela, permanently.

Posted by: Freedom1 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 8, 2006 10:08 PM

I think that when an American Citizen pulls a stunt like this on foreign soil, they should be denied re-entry back into the United States. I bet that there are laws on the books that be could do this.

Posted by: BC at January 8, 2006 10:08 PM

Until we boycott these "entertainers" and send the message that we won't tolerate their political views by not attending their shows, buying their movies, or recordings, then they will continue to feed on our naivete'. As far as W being a terrorist? He probably is to Al-Qaida, the Taliban, Baathists, and
others of that ilk. I fear the majority of the American People will never fully appreciate the character, strength, and leadership of George W. Bush!

Garbage. Islam is the cause of most of the terror and terror attacks in the world.

Qur'an 8:12: I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.

Islamic terrorists have carried out more than 3,994 deadly terror attacks since 9/11. That's a fact. The List

Examples of Islamic Shariah Law

1. Offensive, military jihad against non-Muslims is a communal, religious obligation;

2. A person who is ignorant about Islamic legal opinion must follow the legal opinion of a scholar;

3. The penalty for a Muslim apostate (someone who no longer believes in or no longer follows the tenets of Islam) is death;

4. When slaughtering animals for food, a knife must be used to cut the windpipe and gullet;

5. A woman is only eligible to receive half the inheritance of a man;

6. Marriage may be forced on virgins by their father or father's father;

7. A non-Arab man may not marry an Arab woman;

8. A woman must seek permission from her husband to leave the house;

9. A Muslim man cannot marry a woman who is a Zoroastrian, an idol worshipper, an apostate from Islam or a woman with one parent who is Jewish or Christian, with the other being Zoroastrian; a Muslim woman cannot marry anyone but a Muslim;

10. A free Muslim man may marry up to four women;

11. Retaliation is obligatory in most cases when someone is deliberately murdered except when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim, a Jew or a Christian kills a Muslim apostate or a father or mother kill their offspring;

12. Non-Muslim subjects (Ahl al-Dhimma) of a Muslim state are subject to a series of discriminatory laws &endash; "dhimmitude";

13. The penalty for fornication or sodomy is being stoned to death;

14. The penalty for an initial theft is amputation of the right hand. Subsequent thefts are penalized by further amputations of feet and hand;

15. A non-Muslim cannot testify against a Muslim in court; a person who is "without respectability" cannot give legal testimony; a woman's legal testimony is only given half the legal weight of a man's (and is only acceptable in cases involving property); to legally prove fornication or sodomy requires 4 male witnesses who actually saw the act;

16. The establishment and continuation of the Islamic Caliphate (by force, if necessary) is a communal obligation;

17. Sodomites and Lesbians must be killed;

18. Laughing too much is forbidden;

19. Musical instruments are unlawful;

20. Creating pictures of animate life is forbidden;

21. Female circumcision, which includes the excision of the clitoris, is obligatory;

22. Slavery is permitted;

23. People may be bribed to convert to Islam;

24. Beating a rebellious wife is permissible; and,

25. Lying is permissible in a time of war (or jihad).

It's not Islam. It's radical kooks using a perverted sense of Islam.

Should Christians be drawn and quartered for Jonestown, or, Waco?

Bush is responsible for more deaths than bin Laden. That's a fact.

What kind of perverted Christianity is Bush using to justify his bloodshed?

Last time I read the Bible, it wasn't informing me to start another Crusade and kill on behalf of Jesus.

Sad...

Why do polls show the majority of people around the world believe the United States of America is the biggest threat to peace? The main perpertrator of violence in the world?

I know it's not fun or easy to be honest about your own government, and I know Bush is hardly the first American president to perpetrate such global carnage. He just does it with such wanton ignorance, it's hard to take, really. I think it's our patriotic duty to wake up and smell the unAmerican coffee this administration is brewing.

Hey, is Belafonte even producing anything that we CAN boycott? I doubt it. The guy is a complete has-been. And he won't debate anybody. I guess if anybody has any of his old records, we can perform a mass record flattening just like they did with Sinead O'Connor or Cat Stevens.

Carroll i started boycotting these nuts years ago. I havent seen a movie with anyone of the moonbats in it for a long time. I refuse to give them my money when thats all they want from this country. If they are so unhappy the great thing about America is we have open borders that allow people to leave anytime they wish.

In 1933, Hitler induced Hindenburg to sign a decree euphemistically called, "For the Protection of the People and State," suspending all of the basic rights of citizens and imposing the death sentence for arson, sabotage, resistance to the decree, and disturbances to public order. Arrests could be made on suspicion, and people could be sentenced to prison without trial or the right of counsel. The suspension was never lifted throughout the entire period of Nazi rule, and the decree of February 28th destroyed fundamental guarantees under the Weimar democracy. The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.

Castro's anti-human tyranny in Cuba?

Chavez is feeding the poor and giving them land. He is using oil money to help the most needy. While Chavez uses oil money to help the most needy and build school and hospital; Bush take tax dollars and give tax breaks to the rich while cutting after school programs, schoollunch programs, food stamps, and medicare. Chavez's need to help the poor has been extended to the U.S. His Citgo stations are selling gasoline at reduced prices in Latin ghettos of Chicago. Soon that program will branch out other U.S. cities. Chavez sends oil to Cuba at a reduced rate in exchange for services of Cuban doctors to help the poor. Chavez send oil to 3rd world Latin American countries that would have their economies crushed if they had to buy their oil from anywhere else. I would be overjoyed if Chavez could be president of the U.S. It would be great to have a man that cares about the needs of the poor and the struggle of the middle-class

I'm all for stripping subversive traitors of their American citizenship, just let me know when to vote on it. Chavez is another crony looking to set himself up as a dictator by buying votes from the poor by providing temporary aid. More people have died from socialism than any other form of government because it does not allow people incentives to improve their lives.

Just look at the benefits that a more free market economy has produced in the US: high income relative to rest of world, phenominal supply of medicinal drugs and the most advanced medical treatment available, the best universities, a most safe and stable political environment, personal liberties with a minimum of government regulation, modern conveniences and technology, the opportunity to reach significant personal wealth for all citizens regardless of gender or race, very high human rights standards, etc. You just don't see people saying, "Man, if I could just emigrate from the US to Venezuela or some other socialist country." Come on left-wingers, come back to reality.

"Why do polls show the majority of people around the world believe the United States of America is the biggest threat to peace? The main perpertrator of violence in the world?"

Hmmm... couldn't have anything to do with other major world players (France, Germany) being on the take from Saddam and doing everything in their power (including using their press, which are much more controlled by their governments than ours) to keep that from being discovered, and then continuing to try to get people to overlook it...

Or, with our own liberal press who only tell one side of the story in regards to Iraq, and as much as possible downplays or ignores any good that could be tied to this administration while blaming any and all things bad that happen anywhere on the administration and outright lying (Rathergate, Koran flushing), with no regard whatsoever to the ill effects such lies might have.

They couldn't have any influence on world opinion of us, now could they???

Carroll(and Jones in part) is right on! President GW Bush IS the world's GREATEST terrorist...to Osama bin Ladin and al Zarqawi (and Saddam Hussein and his two seeds). No one anywhere in the world had ever terrorized them this much until W came along. W terrorized OBL so much that he is probably dead for all we know. If he's not dead, he'd have aged 50 years now since the spring of 2002 hiding in caves to caves.

Jones, are you so terrified and terrorized by the greatest terrorist in the world (Bush) that you are hiding in a cave right now laying awake at night fearing that Bush will drop a one ton bomb in your a**hole?

Posted by: Republican43VER [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 9, 2006 12:41 PM

Forgot to add that Cornell West left Harvard after president Lawrence Summers suggested he focus on his job rather than rap music. Good riddence from Harvard. Princeton should follow suit. Then he can keep on going to Venezuela and make songs for Chavez with the people's money.

BTW - To say Bush is worse than Bin Laden et company is to admit that you have mental problems.

You who claim to represent America and call for Belefante's passport to be revoked are pissing on what it really means to be American.
I'm as patriotic as any of you yellow scum-suckers, and like the vast majority of folks in the world, I think Bush is a goddamned menace. If you call me un-American, or try to take my US Passport, I'll wipe the floor with your faces.

Freedom of speech, is not free, has a high price. Just ask the Dixie Chicks. They used be a singing trio. Not a Peep in almost 3 years, it's been great.

There is always a cost for free speech. Some great men have died for it.

Jeff,
Take a deep breath. It’s obvious you are suffering from a classic case of Moonbat disease also known as Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS).

You definitely have the dembebuttplugged symptoms.

Here’s what you do…drink a mix of two tablespoons whole psyllium husks with 8oz of water…after a couple doses you will find the crap coming out your ass and not your mouth.

Also, St John's Wort would do wonders for your nasty disposition.

Posted by: ap at January 10, 2006 09:19 PM

It's a beautiful thing that an "American" such as Belafonte can go to Venezuela rub shoulders with Chavez call his president a terrorist and proclaim that millions of Americans support his revolution then gets to come back to the US and live the wonderful life this country has enabled him to have. His actions should be a slap in the face to Chavez, showing him and his country how free Americans are. Everyone in Venezuela and Cuba know they would be dead if they made those comments about Castro or Chavez. Belafonte should not be allowed to come back to the US, he should stay in Venezuela and continue to support that idiot Chavez and his revolution from close proximity experiencing it first hand and let's see how long he likes it. When is he coming back? I think millions of Americans should show up at the airport and demand that he go back, what an idiot, he deserves to live there. Better yet, I am a Cuban American and I have lots of relatives who had to stay behind because Castro wouldn't let them out, how about Harry exchanging places with one of them?

Posted by: Rita at January 11, 2006 12:14 AM

I wanted to make sure everyone saw this:

Private Statements of Goodwill Ambassadors

9 January 2006 -- Comments over the weekend by Harry Belafonte in Venezuela were made as a private citizen, and not in his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, nor in an official capacity on behalf of the organization. UNICEF does not endorse these comments.

UNICEF has a vital mission of saving and improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children. That important work includes providing children with life-saving medicine, better nutrition, clean water and sanitation, quality basic education, and emergency relief in many of the neediest areas around the globe.

The world has agreed to these priorities in the Millennium Development Goals, which must continue to be a central focus of the international agenda for children.

Posted by: yh at January 21, 2006 11:51 PM

I have an idea for Belefante. Since the only constructive thing he has ever done in his life time is sing a song with what 4 words in it, he should move his dumb a-- out of this country and take Fonda, Streisand and Odonel with him.
