Who Died During Katrina?

Bet you didn't see this coming:

(CNSNews.com) - Statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals suggest that fewer than half of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were black, and that whites died at the highest rate of all races in New Orleans.

Liberals in the aftermath of the storm were quick to allege that the Bush administration delayed its response to the catastrophe because most of the victims were black.

Damu Smith, founder of the National Black Environmental Justice Network, in September said that the federal government "ignored us, they forgot about us ... because we look like we look."...

...But the state's demographic information suggests that whites in New Orleans died at a higher rate than minorities. According to the 2000 census, whites make up 28 percent of the city's population, but the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals indicates that whites constitute 36.6 percent of the storm's fatalities in the city.

African-Americans make up 67.25 percent of the population and 59.1 percent of the deceased. Other minorities constitute approximately 5 percent of the population and represented 4.3 percent of the storm's fatalities.

Always, always better to wait and see how things develope before making a firm judgement. This, too, is preliminary - later data and refinements of existing data will make adjustements to this story...but this does show that the people who were making judgements about Katrina in its immediate aftermath were fools and/or knaves. Katrina was a massive human tragedy in which the spirit of America shined forth...trust leftwingers and race-baiters to take this horror and its sublime aftermath and try to pitch it in an anti-Bush/anti-American manner. To the hate-filled, nothing but hate will do...the real story of Katrina didn't fit their miserable worldview, so they just made up a story which did.

Of course, we also stopped searching for bodies in the 9th ward.

looks like ole whitey lost again.

I read that over 6500 are still missing, over one-thousand of that number are children.

"Always, always better to wait and see how things develope before making a firm judgement."

That's exactly the opposite of what GWB's Iraq war.

"That's exactly the opposite of what GWB's Iraq war."

That was a very enjoyable display of the english language.

Kevin,

Yep, after a mere 12 years we "rushed" into Iraq without giving it even so much as a tought....

Christian,

And I read that there were massive rapes and murders going on during Katrina...just 'cause you read something doesn't make it true.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2005 02:31 AM

shortz,

I doubt there are many left to find...they have been rather diligently looking for them, so my guess is that there's just not that many to find.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2005 02:31 AM

I heard black helicopters went in and mowed black people down for some unknown confusing reason that the people won't explain. We also have aliens are area 51. The world is also run by a secret organization hidden in a farm house in Germany.

6500, yah right.

Posted by: Jonathan [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 17, 2005 05:27 AM

Area 51, Jonathan, that's where the 6500 children are. They've got them all washing and waxing the flying saucers. I think the flying saucers blew up the levees...

"I doubt there are many left to find...they have been rather diligently looking for them, so my guess is that there's just not that many to find."

That's the point: they weren't diligently looking for them. The search ended before the 9th ward was covered.

Posted by: shortz at December 17, 2005 12:21 PM

What the hell are you libs taling about? Ten thousand dead goes to 1000 dead, now we know that whites died at a higher percentage. Claims that 6000 are missing? I'd like to see that evidence. Stopped searching the 9th ward? Are we expected to believe that there are sixth thousand rotting bodies in New orleans right now? Is that what your arguments have become? Delusional.

Let's see:

We blew the levees to kill blacks---but the levees actually shifted several feet because they were built in Louisiana, under the graft and corruption that has always ruled the state, and the contractors shafted the citizens while pocketing money intended to protect them. Many black contractors, by the way.

We refused to send enough money to Louisiana to build the levees as high as they should have been built---but they were built as high as the specs required, after many billions were sent there over many years.

Six hundred died in the Superdome---but when FEMA showed up with refrigerated trucks, 600 body bags, and three forensic surgeons, they found five bodies, only one of which MAY have died in suspicious circumstances.

And on and on and on. The conspricacy loonies came out from under thousands of rocks for Katrina, and evidently some of them have computers and enjoy 'educating' us about their theories.

What is really telling is that the Povety Pimps (to quote George Carlin, not exactly a hard-core conservative) are freaking out because they are losing a lot of their base, as the poor blacks they have kept in modern slavery for the past half century have been relocated into civilization, where many of them are realizing that the people who bought them bus and plane tickets are white, the people who took them into their homes are white, the people offering them jobs are white, the people welcoming their children into the schools are white, and that maybe, just maybe, they have been lied to for the express purpose of keeping them dumb and subservient and therefore committed Democrats. In other words, experience is showing them that the claim that all whites hate all blacks is a lie, and many are wondering why the people they trusted have been lying to them.

In my area, most of the black people who came here "temporarily" have decided to stay, realizing that there is nothing for them back in Louisiana. They knew all along there was nothing there for them, but now they know there IS something for them somewhere else.

And it is clearer every day that those who depended on them to stay in power are panicking. The only thing left to do is to continue spreading the hate lies, trying desperately and frantically to keep the hatred bubbling---because without hatred, they have nothing.

I'm sure they appreciate shortz's help.

Who told you this one, shortzie? the CBC? Jesse Jackson? Calypso Louie? You...are a meathead!!!

Truth be known, the good citizens of New Orleans were advised, repeatedly, to evacuate. Some chose to wait until the government "came to the rescue," because they expected as much.

ABC News did a Nighline piece at the Houston Astrodome a few days following the relocation of NO citizens there. They were looking for a hit piece on the president--they got exactly the opposite. In fact, one elderly black woman said, and I paraphrase, "If you really want to blame someone, blame us. We were told to evacuate, and we didn't."

Once again--shortzie, you...are a meathead!!!

Isn't it amazing that this statistic never reaches main-stream media? Where is CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and even BBC?
