She's baaack....
CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) -- Three months after the mother of a fallen soldier led a 26-day anti-war vigil near President Bush's ranch, peace activists and Bush supporters converged again Saturday for dueling rallies.
Cindy Sheehan, whose 24-year-old Casey died in Iraq, called for anti-war activists to return to Crawford this week as Bush celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. The war opponents' camp is at the same 1-acre private lot that a landowner let them use in August when Sheehan's original campsite became too crowded.
But she isn't alone - there are also some patriots there to provide a fair and balanced event:
Meanwhile, father Gary Qualls, who lost his Marine son Louis in Iraq last year, was among hundreds of Bush supporters who wanted to counter anti-war demonstrators with their own demonstration. Qualls, who also led a pro-Bush rally in August, said the anti-war demonstration is disrespectful to soldiers and hurtful to troop morale.
"Our sons and daughters have given the ultimate sacrifice, and they deserve nothing less than pure honor and pure respect," Qualls said.
I note, with great care, that the MSM report here says that "hundreds" showed up for the pro-America demonstration, while the "peace" demonstration has no number of people attached...this makes me believe that they've probably got a couple dozen ragged hippies in contrast to hundreds of patriots supporting the troops.
Sheehan, and what she represents, is the achilles heel of the Democratic Party...the Democrats are consorting with fools and traitors when they attach themselves to the so-called "anti-war" movement; our job as GOPers is to hang Sheehan 'round their necks all through next year.

I think that the liberals and the MSM are starting to realize that cindy sheehan is a grenade waiting to go off. In the beginning, she had their full support because she was useful in their 5 year non stop attack against President Bush. But now that she totally lost her mind and has committed the ultimate liberal sin of attacking anyone with the last name of clinton, they realize that she could turn on them at any time and be a liability. As a side note, as of Wednesday, November 23, Rassmussen has President Bush's job approval rating at 46 percent.

Please find the below letter from a man fighting in Iraq.
Paul,
I wish I had the time or energy or memory capacity to describe to you how wrong this whole thing has gone. It's just as you described it a couple years ago. We can make a difference here, and i believe in the mission as it looks on paper. But your president and his brain-dead colleagues aren't even trying to give us what we need to do it. the add-on armor HMMWVs are a joke. The terrorists target them b/c they know they offer no protection. The M1114s have good armor, but every time we lose one (i had one blown up monday, driver had his femoral artery cut -- will recover fully -- b/c there apparently is no armor or very weak armor under the pedals) it's impossible to replace them. So now I have to send yet another add-on armored vehicle outside the wire daily. The M1114s also have certain mechanical defects, known to the manufacturer, for which there is apparently no known fix. For example, on some of them (like mine) if it stalls or you turn it off, you cannot restart it if the engine is hot. We have to dump 3 liters of cold water on a solenoid in order to start it again. Not that much fun when your vehicle won't start in indian country. I wonder if DoD is getting a refund for the contract. Speaking of contracts, KBR is a joke. I can't even enumerate the problems with their service, but I guarantee they do not receive less money based on how many of the showers don't work, or how many of us won't eat in the chow hall often because we get sick every time we do.
There is so much. I could go on forever. the worst thing, which we have discussed, is that they are playing these bullshit numbers games to fool America about troop strength. If they stopped paying KBR employees $100,000 to do the job of a $28,000 soldier, maybe they'd have enough money to send us enough soldiers to do the job. As it stands we have no offensive capability in the most dangerous city on earth. General Shinseki should write an Op/Ed that basically says, "I told you so." Idiots.
Where are the AC-130s? The apaches? They have them in FAR less active AOs (areas of operations). All we ever get is a single Huey and Cobra team, both of which are older than I am. it's such a joke. They're not even trying. At all. They have apaches in Tikrit but Hueys in Ramadi.
I wish every american could see this for him/herself. Registering your frustration at the ballot box isn't nearly enough. There should be jail terms for this.

Yes! James, I am glad you pointed the Rasmussen figures out. Maybe we are back on the upswing :))
Cindy Sheehan recently toured through my area, Wheaton, IL. She was gone before most of us knew, as it was a fundraiser and so forth for far-left groups in the area. The after-effects of her visit were not positive for them, as far as I am concerned. There was a lot of surprise and unsupportive words.

"Qualls, who also led a pro-Bush rally in August, said the anti-war demonstration is disrespectful to soldiers and hurtful to troop morale."
This is so true. Ann Coulter's 11/23/05 article rips the Democratic Party for their treasonous anti-war efforts: Democrats are gutless traitors
(excerpt): "Anti-war protests in the U.S. during the Vietnam War were a major source of moral support to the enemy. We know that not only from simple common sense, but from the statements of former North Vietnamese military leaders who evidently didn't get the memo telling them not to say so. In an Aug. 3, 1995, interview in The Wall Street Journal, Bui Tin, a former colonel in the North Vietnamese army, called the American peace movement "essential" to the North Vietnamese victory.
"Every day our leadership would listen to world news over the radio at 9 a.m. to follow the growth of the American anti-war movement," he said. "Visits to Hanoi by people like Jane Fonda and former Attorney General Ramsey Clark and ministers gave us confidence that we should hold on in the face of battlefield reverses."

I hear a lot of comment about the anti-war movement, how it hurts us and helps our enemies. Sometimes I just want to slap conservatives and yell "Get a hold of yourself, man!"
We have always had anti-war factions. Even during WW2, there were the Bundists and the Fellow Travellers. Before the war there were the Isolationists, who did a lot more to aid the enemy than any modern day activist - in 1941, there wasn't a modern tank or fighter plane in the whole country.
However, back then it didn't matter. Nobody went around saying "Ohmygawd - protesters! OUR CAUSE IS DOOMED!" They overcame. They won, despite it all. Because they had the facts. They knew they were under attack, they saw the films from Europe.
They got the message that the government was doing this for their own good, not to benefit the GM tank and truck division. The word got out. Everybody tried, especially the government, to avoid scandal, waste, and politics-as-usual.
So, now we've got Sheenan, and she's chained herself to another allegorical fence. She'd be silly if it weren't for all the people taking her seriously.
Why not give the baby her bottle? Why can't the administration meet her, on TV, and reiterate why we are fighting, why we are winning, and why her son died? It is the spin war, not the Iraq war, that is in peril at this point. The wind could be taken out of their sails so EASILY if only somebody would just get the facts out. Line up some vets in front of her, and let them talk. Round up some men who served with her son, and let them talk.
We are winning this war. If the anti-war movement is making any headway, it is because of the HUGE information vacumn being filled by their sound bites. Why don't we just let the facts drown them out? Why can't we?

Small town...
The difference between then and now is the proliferation of media outlets. During Vietnam our enemies learned how to manipulate US and world opinion via the press and TV.
It was impossible for the NVA to defeat the US on the battlefield, they did it through the media.
These techniques are even more effective now that anti-american news reports from a biased media outlets go to every nook and cranny of the world.
Yes there is a vacuum of information about the good things that are happening in Iraq. But as any journalist will tell you blood gore and bad news sells. Add that to the fact that the media is almost universally opposed to the administration and you have the fifth column alive and well.

This woman lost her son in a war started by the stupid excues you call your president. The least you idiot morons can do is show her a decent amount of respect. I still can't beleive the right wing attacks on a woman who is still greiving for her lost son. If you retards actually supported the troops, you would support the greiving families along with them. Stop contradicting your "values" and show some sympathy and compassion for this woman.

I'm with you on this one small town, I think the less attention we give this obviously liberal berkleyite, and the more attention we pay to getting out the facts and the positive stuff the better. She is not worth a second glance from us, and she'll get enough attention from the msm. So let's stop talking about her and start getting the information out there that the Bush administration can't get out there. They are not in office to wage war on the media and it's hype, not to mention that it would be foolish. It's up to us folks, talk to your friends, neighbors, & family and remind them of the rich history that this country holds, that is the one thing the libs & media can't take away as much as they try. To hell with them. They don't like thanksgiving, christmas, christians, capitalism, prosperity, crosses, the mention of jesus in christmas carols, respect for life in the womb, respect for life in other countries, acountability for criminals & terrorists, oh yah, forgot rich republicans, etc, etc, etc. need I go on? I could? naw why waste our breath on people like Sheehan. This is my last wasted breath on her!

"Why can't the administration meet her, on TV, and reiterate why we are fighting, why we are winning, and why her son died?"
Because it wouldn't matter in the least.
1) She's already said that if he gives her any real reason, as opposed to 'admitting' to her oil/Israel/Halliburton conspiracy theories, she'll just scream and curse at him. Her demeanor precludes any reasonable expectation for him to meet with her.
2) It's all been said and said again (most recently by both President Bush and Vice President Cheney). Why in the world should anyone believe that this time, finally, she and her ilk will believe or back down at all?
"It is the spin war, not the Iraq war, that is in peril at this point. The wind could be taken out of their sails so EASILY if only somebody would just get the facts out."
That's true... this administration is rather bad at PR (as opposed to the previous administration that was nothing BUT PR). HOWEVER... the media is decidedly against this administration and the war in Iraq, and would counter any such attempt by the administration to get the facts out with smart sounding "experts" telling all those against the administration all the pretty words they want to hear so that they can continue believing in their alternate realities.
"Line up some vets in front of her, and let them talk. Round up some men who served with her son, and let them talk."
There's plenty of these out there, too, but they are not given equal time by the media. Those who are willing to get out on the net and look for themselves will find the stories (thanks in large part to the blogosphere), but those who won't are left with whatever the media is willing to tell them, which is mostly half-truths and lies of omission.
There's a lot being done, but it's an incredibly uphill battle with the airwaves heavily dominated by the other side.

He's already seen her in person, hick; what makes her any more special than any other mother, father, sister, or brother of a fallen hero? For that matter, what makes her any more special than any relative of anyone who's served in Afghanistan/Iraq, regardless of whether they've been killed, wounded, or otherwise.
I say screw this kook! Ignore her; she's a fundraiser for MoveOn and the DNC. Besides, the President should not get near her unless he's wearing goggles; that snoot could poke out an eye!
