The GOP Base Lays Down the Marker

I don't think that they can make it any clearer than this:

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Conservative activists in Iowa have served notice for 2008 presidential hopefuls: Oppose Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr. at your own peril.

Several of the state's most influential conservative groups called for fair hearings and a quick vote on President Bush's nominee to the high court. "It is our hope that through this process you too will recognize Judge Alito's impeccable qualifications and vote to confirm," the groups said in a public letter.

The letter was addressed to potential Republican candidates. Among the signees were the state representatives from the Christian Coalition, Iowans for Tax Relief, Concerned Women for America, the Iowa Family Policy Center, Eagle Forum and Marriage Matters.

Intuitively, I already knew this - the base was riled up when President Bush didn't nominate a strong, well-known conservative...and the base will be just as riled up at any GOPers who cause trouble with getting a strong, well-known conservative approved. The wrath of the GOP base is not to be trifled with. The Supine Seven should take note.

In the end, this is a healthy development for the GOP. For too long we have allowed the weak sisters to go unscathed as they have cut us off at the knees time and again. The Democrats, run by the left, are offering us no truce and no respite - there is no way to compromise with them while they are under the spell of the anti-American left. Nothing we do will placate them - so we might as well fight them all up and down the line. When they cry "uncle", then we can start being nice again.

This is exactly what's needed, and I hope the other 49 states' GOP and conservative organizations can follow suite.

Tout de suite, to borrow a French phrase. Toast the GOP's tootsies if they can't get the message. Send 'em packin' if they really fail to heed the Base's call.

I hope the Gop remembes that we elected them because we wanted something differant from the democrats tax and spend policies. The present leadership and spending on bridges in Alaska, expansion of the federal govermnet, more entitlement spending, shows there is only one party in Washington, Democrat or Demo-Lite.

Nice. You won't stop fighting democrats until they give up their beliefs, or stop fighting for them. Democrats sure seemed ready to accept "truth and compromise" with the Gang of 14. Maybe some righties just prefer to fight. Democrats haven't been offered any compromises. They've been told basically to get out of the way because they don't matter when the right is in the majority. Those far lefties can be scary, much like far righties like Pat Robertson can be scary. It's amazing how much power you surmise the Democrats have. If they have this much power while you control the Government, maybe you are weak after all.

Renne,

Your side is calling Alito and out of the mainstream extremist...here's a clue: He's just a regular conservative, like me and tens of millions of other Americans. We're not in a mood to compromise with people who call us out of the mainstream extremists. Got it?

You see, it is the hate which the left brings to the debate which we will not stop fighting until the Democrats purge the left from their Party.

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 14, 2005 01:57 PM

You created that hate with five years of denouncing everything we believe in and the people who sent us to DC in the first place. As soon as you purge the Pat Robertsons from your party, we'll purge the moveon.org's from ours. Got it?

Posted by: Renne P. at November 14, 2005 07:26 PM

Renne,

Who is more influential: Robertson in the GOP, or MoveOn in the Democratic Party? Robertson is a periphial GOP figure, MoveOn is central to the modern Democratic Party.

As for who started it - it was you, of the left. Don't you recall? "Hey, hey, LBJ; how many kids did you kill today"....that is a hate-filled statement, and it is from the left and it is forty years old...

Posted by: Mark Noonan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 15, 2005 03:50 AM

Robertson is a public figure who reaches millions of viewers every day. As is Limbaugh, Hannity, et al. I won't be held compliant in the sins of a previous generation, before I was born.

As for you, your whole blog is filled with hate. I distinctly remember your post about the discovery of the 10th planet. You even turned THAT into a swipe at Democrats. If the party in power holds nothing but comptempt, why should the opposition party act any differently?

Posted by: Renne P. at November 15, 2005 06:34 AM

yeah thats right he must have been appointed to do something special for them..to give them their right.
