"For the first time, bloggers will hold an on-site presence at the Republican National Convention called 'Bloggers Corner.' Positioned near Radio Row, credentialed bloggers will have the opportunity to connect with delegates, guests and other surrogates for interviews, and to provide original content, including multimedia, to their audiences. Through this behind-the-scenes look at the convention's proceedings and events, bloggers will play an important role in telling the story of the 2004 Republican Convention."

RNC Bloggers Reflect on Covering The Convention: Adjusting back to the routine of going to work everyday and not blogging at the convention, I do realize I need to continue writing my post-convention thoughts, but I just haven't had enough time to finish... however, a few other credentialed bloggers have in fact written some post-convention reflections. Scott from Slant Point has a big write up that is well worth your time reading. Also, John from PowerLine has a good post reflecting on the convention... Kevin from Wizbang! realizes (sadly) that it's over... It really is over...... |

Convention Reflection: Opportunities come and go. Today it seems like the convention was over as quickly as it came upon me. If I had missed one event, or an interview, it will never feel like a loss because the experience of being at the Republican National Convention could have been nothing other than a net-positive. There was so much happening at the convention that I anticipate several post-convention posts on the various incidents, encounters, and experiences I had. This post will give some overall reflections on the experience of blogging the convention. It was difficult work but a rewarding challenge. Without the... |

Blogs For Bush Interviews Richard Miniter: I now have available for your listening pleasure, my blogger exclusive interview (from Thursday night) with Richard Miniter, author of "Losing Bin Laden: How Bill Clinton's Failures Unleashed Global Terror" which is coming out in paperback in a week. We discussed the convention and more specifically a key issue in this election: the war on terror, he told me that there are lots of things in that people need to remember before going to the voting booth. He told me, "If you elect Kerry, you are voting for the Clinton approach to fighting terrorism ... if you look at the... |

View from the Convention: Here are my quick thoughts on Bush last night. He rose to the occasion and did just about everything right. Not saying it was a speech for the centuries, but he laid out his domestic agenda (blunting criticism that this convention was about nothing other than 9/11 and contrasting Kerry's convention that was about nothing other than Vietnam) and strengthened his resolve to win any battle and take it to the jihadists in their backyards so we are not fighting this in our backyards. His campaign is a well-oiled machine so Kerry will have to do a lot to take... |

FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!: I have just returned from Bush's speech. Read my lips, George W. Bush will be President for FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!!!! Inside, all you feel, all you could be was proud. I was so glad to be in there and be a part of it. The energy, the enthusiasm. It was outstanding. I had never been to a Bush rally before, This was my first time seeing him give a speech in person and it was just an incredible experience. This was the big event of the week. RNC Bloggers Interview Senator John Cornyn from Texas: Another great interview by the RNC Bloggers. This time with Senator John Cornyn from Texas. He came by right after we finished with Senator Santorum. We talked about a lot things. He told us, "this is not a time for a nuanced approach to the war on terror." David from OxBlog asked him a question about the electoral college, and the quetion of abolishing it, and he said, "Well, I'm not ready to scrap the electoral college, and really we wouldn't be having this conversation if the last race wasn't so close. Al Franken, New Poster Boy For Blogs For Bush?: So Al Franken has been going around stirring things up on Radio Row. Word has it that things were getting pretty rough on the Michael Medved Show. Earlier this afternoon A few of us were having a candid conversation with John Podhoretz about the Bush twins speech the other night. He didn't have anything nice to say about it either. RNC Bloggers Interview Senator Rick Santorum: Click below to hear the interview. This was a really good interview with Senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania. The main topic we discussed was gay marriage and the issue of a Federal Marriage Amendment defining marriage as being between a man and women being added to the constitution. I asked the Senator if he thought such an amendment could be passed, and he told us he feels "it's an important enough issue that we have to try," and explained that it takes a long time to get an amendment passed. Andrew Jackson Speaks: If you have been reading the pundits and blogosphere, you no doubt have heard reference to the links between the founder of the Democratic Party, former President Andrew Jackson, and possibly its last torch bearer in Democratic Senator Zell Miller. Michael Barone has an absolutely must read on this phenomenon: Until Wednesday night, I was under the impression that Andrew Jackson had died in 1845. But on Wednesday night he appeared at the podium of the Republican National Convention under the guise of Georgia Senator and former Governor Zell Miller. In the accents of the mountain South, with a directness... |

Quotes of the Night: Obviously there are too many to choose from. Matt had some choice ones below. But I really got a kick out of these two: Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than twenty weeks of campaign rhetoric. Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside. -- Senator Zell Miller (D-GA) Senator Kerry says he sees two Americas. And that makes the whole thing mutual — America sees two John Kerrys. -- Vice-President, Dick CheneyIt was great fun being in the... |

One Zell of a Good Time: What can I say? I think Zell Miller stole the show tonight. His message and delivery were perfect. He stood up there at the podium, staring everyone down with a look that said "You better listen to me, I have something to say, you need to pay attention!" He spoke with his mouth and his eyes, and you knew he meant business. It's a tough feat to beat Guiliani's performance on Monday, but I think Zell may have taken the trophy tonight. I wasn't there on the floor, but I can imagine what it must have been like. I was... |

Zell! Zell! Zell!: Zell Miller was absolutely amazing tonight!!!!! I was up at Bloggers Corner with some fellow bloggers watching on the TV and it was absolutely incredible. Zell had great lines, great jabs at Kerry and we almost couldn't believe just how authoritative he was. He hit the ball out of the park nailing Kerry for voting against funding our troops. He hit the ball out of the park nailing Kerry for his past votes against the very systems which have helped our military achieve success; the B-1 bomber, the B-2 bomber, the F-14A Tomcats, the Apache helicopter, and on and on..... |

Keeping The Ass In Mass: I saw Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kerry Healey and Governor Mitt Romney speak tonight. I have to say, Kerry Healey did a terrible job pulling off that speech. I loved it when he said "I'm proud to be from Massachusetts, where John Kerry will be the junior senator until 2008."... |

Face To Face With McCain: Kevin from Wizbang and I went off for some grub earlier and apparently we couldn't bring the food back to Bloggers Corner. We decided at a one point to check out the arena and we were kind of stuck at one of the entries, next thing we knew, John McCain stepped out and was a mere 24 inches away, he looked right at us and winked. Terry McAuliffe, Ignorant on the Blogosphere: After Terry McAuliffe decided to give credit to the already discredited story of Kerry's Cambodia "missions" he was interviewed by some fellow RNC Bloggers. Once again, Terry McAuliffe has absolutely no understanding of a particular issue. An issue very close to many of us who frequent this site: Q: Why are liberals better at blogging in terms of politics? A: Well, I think the Democrats... well, we're a younger party, we have a lot more young people involved the Democratic Party and I believe we've been on the internet more extensively than the republicans have... and I think the natural... |

Terry McAuliffe Says Kerry "Went To Cambodia Twice": Bloggers get the scoop. Terry McAuliffe says he believes John Kerry went to Cambodia twice, then criticizes George W. Bush's service. He told us has a Palm Pilot, and that he had e-mail but got rid of it because he got too much junk mail it was taking him too long to fiddle around with. All the student in attendance were betwen 18 and 24 years old and selected by their state party and come from all over the United States. "They had the Bush twins, George P. Speech Reflections: I was down at the floor, less than thirty feet away from the stage. The crowd went wild when Arnold came up. It was almost funny seeing him in person after so many years of seeing him on screen or on TV. Similarly, for someone from Hollywood to be up there on stage stumping for Bush the way he did was great. Arnold talked about his own personal experiences as a child in Austria, which tied in perfectly with his message of the greatness of our country. His story about how he determined he was a Republican was very effective... |

The American Dream: Did you ever get the feeling that the GOP knows what its doing? Its a serious question. While I'm not an old man, I am old enough to remember when we of the GOP had the exceptionally deserved unofficial name of "the Stupid Party". We had this habit of taking the most amazingly great opportunties and blowing them in a bad way. The last time we did this, by my reckoning, is when we allowed Pat Buchanan to speak at the 1992 GOP convention. Since then, however, we've just done one smart thing after another - evidence of this is... |

W Stands For Women: Yesterday I attended a great convention event sponsored by a women’s coalition. I didn’t really think it would be such a big deal to hear these people speak in person, but I was wrong. It was very exciting and a lot of fun. Even with a requirement to rsvp in advance for security reasons, the ballroom at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel was packed with women. The panel of speakers, also all women. They were: Lynn Cheney, Barbara Bush, Doro Bush, Liz Cheney, and Ed Gillespie’s wife. The two Bush twins were also on stage. They did not speak, but were there... |

Our Clash With Al Franken: That's right, you read correctly. After we got the scoop on his fight with the producer of Laura Ingraham's radio show, we felt inclined to approach him when we saw him standing by Blogger's Corner. Kevin from Wizbang has a photo and a brief recounting of our inquiries on that subject. After we decided to ask him what he thought about the speeches tonight. Back From The Convention Floor: I have just returned from the convention floor. I was very close to the stage and took plenty of photos... Here's a sampling Quick thoughts on the speeches: Arnold was great. The crowd loved him, and he spoke very well. I expected that his speech would include his personal story of being an immigrant and that tied in extraordinarily well with his entire speech. Jenna and Barbara were so-so. It was exciting to see them up there, however, it didn't feel very real to me. They both looked fantastic, but there speech came off corny to me. The best moment... |

Polipundit Confession -- Arnold Speaks to Him: As an American born citizen, I may be unable to fully appreciate the sentiment but not the meaningfulness, sincerity and emotion packed into this short post: I'm listening to Arnold Schwarzenegger speak and it's so very personal for me. Like Arnold, I'm a legal immigrant. Like Arnold, I dreamed of leaving my socialist homeland behind for the Land of the Free. Jews for Bush: With President Bush's strong and resolved stance in the war on terror and his unflinching support for the State of Israel (the only democracy in the middle east, with Iraq soon to join it; I'd put Afghanistan in Central Asia as opposed to the mideast, but why quibble), Republicans are hopeful of making great strides with Jewish voters. Traditionally, Jews, as they say, live like Episcopalians and vote like Puerto Ricans - which is to say roughly 90% for the Democratic Party in an almost genetic fashion. But, as Democrat and former New York Mayor Ed Koch explains, this year... |

John McCain and Rudy Giuliani: In listening to the speeches by Senator McCain and Mayor Giuliani, we were exposed to the definitive arguments in favor of the Bush Administration's conduct of the War on Terrorism. Over the course of the next three days, other speakers will also touch upon this subject, and we can expect that President Bush in his acceptance speech will also devote a substantial amount of time to this subject - but tonight, for all practical purposes, the critics of the war have been answered. And the answer is indisputable. Senator McCain began by invoking the shades of Franklin Roosevelt, quoting him... |

Words to kick off the week.: Senator McCain on President Bush: " ... He has been tested and has risen to the most important challenge of our time, and I salute him. I salute his determination to make this world a better, safer freer place. He has not wavered. He has not flinched from the hard choices. He will not yield. And neither will we." And from America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani. "There are many qualities that make a great leader but having strong beliefs, being able to stick with them through popular and unpopular times, is the most important characteristic of a great leader. "Winston Churchill... |

Big Night In The City: Today, (well, yesterday) was a big day. Earlier, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Dick Cheney's speech sound check, and this evening was a quite interesting as well. First, some RNC Bloggers got together at the Churrascaria Plataforma, a Brazilian barbecue restaurant. Hugh Hewitt was there to join us. Those of us who could make it had some drinks together, talked about politics and blogging and all that wonderful stuff. Hugh Hewitt had to leave early, but we had a good crowd stick around, David Adesnik from Oxblog, Roger L. Simon, Scott from SlantPoint, Tom Bevan from RealClearPolitics, Kevin... |

Dick Cheney's Speech Sound Check: Well, as you already heard, Scott and I were able to witness the speech soundchecks of Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne Cheney. This was really cool to see. We didn't expect to find ourselves in the same room as the Vice President. We had come to Madison Square Garden after picking up our credentials to just get a little familiar with everything and locate Bloggers' Corner. After that we figured we'd go see the main floor. Coincidentally Dick & Lynne Cheney were there. They were there for probably 15-20 minutes after we had arrived, so we were lucky to... |

Matt Phones in a Report: Matt calls to say that the audio-blogging is temporarily down, but he phoned in this report. Matt and Scott of Slant Point, having acquired their official credentials for the convention, were on the main floor of the convention center today checking things out. As they were familiarizing themselves with the area inside Madison Square Garden, Vice President and Mrs. Cheney arrived to do their soundchecks at the podium. The text of the soundcheck was the Gettysburg Address. Their appearing was a surprise, and a coincidence, but Matt and Scott got to within about 50 feet of the VP, and managed... |

Communists For Kerry at Union Square: Today was a fairly busy day, and it is probably going to be the least busy day I'll have all week. I met up with a friend from college for lunch, then a little later I ventured over to Union Square where lots of stuff was happening. I was informed by a republican blogger Rob that Communists For Kerry were demonstrating, so I wanted to check that out... There were anti-Bush crowds out and about as well, lots of strange people. I met up with Scott from SlantPoint and we hung around for a while. We walked around and noticed... |

Streaming video of the show will be available at some point, I will post details as I am made aware of them.... |

Got Questions for RNC Guests, Delegates and Surrogates?: As you know, I'm now in New York, getting ready to cover the convention! Don't forget you still have time to submit questions for potential interviewees at the Republican National Convention! As a credentialed blogger I will "have the opportunity to connect with delegates, guests and other surrogates for interviews, and to provide original content, including multimedia, to their audiences." Bush bloggers and visitors of this site still have an opportunity to submit questions for potential interviewees. This is a great opportunity for Bush bloggers and visitors of this site to participate in my coverage of the Republican National Convention.... |

WaPo's Howard Kurtz On The Convention Bloggers: The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz talks about the convention bloggers, and give Blogs For Bush some linkage! The bloggers are about to storm Manhattan. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration by the troglodyte mainstream media. There are only 15 bloggers heading to Madison Square Garden, less than half the number that descended on the FleetCenter. But I thought you'd like to meet some of them anyway. The Boston bloggers were almost all Kerry boosters, so it comes as no surprise that the New York contingent is all Bush fans of the conservative variety. The Big Apple crew hasn't gotten... |

The Wall Street Journal Profiles The RNC Bloggers: The Wall Street Journal has put out their feature on the RNC Bloggers. Republican Web loggers are getting ready for their shot at posting convention news and commentary, and they say they've learned from their left-leaning counterparts' experience five weeks earlier. At Madison Square Garden, the official blogger group will number about 15, a tiny fraction of the estimated 15,000 journalists expected, and less than half the size of the accredited Boston blogger set. "That's just the number we landed on," said convention spokeswoman Alyssa McClenning. She wouldn't discuss how convention planners chose the group, but said the bloggers "reflected... |

Zell Miller To Be Keynote Speaker At GOP Convention: From Reuters: Retiring Democratic Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia, who has backed President Bush for re-election, will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Convention, Republican officials said on Thursday. Miller, who supported Bush's tax cuts and has consistently voted with the Republican Senate majority against his own party, will speak on Wednesday Sept. 1, the third night of the New York convention, said Ed Gillespie, chairman of the Republican National Committee. Got questions for Zell Miller, or any other guests, speakers or surrogates at the GOP Convention? Submit them here.... |

A Big Decision By 'A Small Victory': Scott at Slant Point has informed me that one our fellow RNC Bloggers, Michele Catalano, has decided to bow out of blogging the convention. Michele has made the decision to spend much needed time with family. Certainly this was a wise decision on her part, but we'll miss her anyway. So here is the list of RNC Bloggers as is known now: Kevin Aylward of WizBang! Matt Margolis of Blogs For Bush Captain Ed of Captain's Quarters and Blogs For Bush Scott Sala of Slant Point John H. Participate in Blogs For Bush's Coverage of the RNC: As you know by now, I will be one of the credentialed bloggers at the Republican National Convention. As a credentialed blogger I will "have the opportunity to connect with delegates, guests and other surrogates for interviews, and to provide original content, including multimedia, to their audiences." Without the help of bloggers who joined our community here, as well as the loyal visitors who contribute as well, Blogs For Bush would be the success that it is today. Because of that I want to not only bring the convention to you on August 30th through September 2, but I'd like... |
