Economy: Mission Accomplished

Yesterday we learned that economy has had its strongest quarter of growth in nearly 20 years. It looks like the economists were rightótax cuts stimulate the economy!

The economy grew at a blistering 7.2 percent annual rate in the third quarter in the strongest pace in nearly two decades. Consumers spent with abandon and businesses ramped up investment, compelling new evidence of an economic resurgence.
The increase in gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the economy’s performance, in the July-September quarter was more than double the 3.3 percent rate registered in the second quarter, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.
The 7.2 percent pace marked the best showing since the first quarter of 1984. It exceeded analysts’ forecasts for a 6 percent growth rate for third-quarter GDP, which measures the value of all goods and services produced within the United States.

Scott McLellan, President Bush’s spokesman, said that while today’s numbers are “another positive sign,” and that Bush’s strategy of cutting taxes to boost the economy is “is working, getting more money into people’s pockets,” there is still more work to be done. “We need to continue to act and build upon the steps we have taken to get our economy growing so we can continue to translate growth into job creation,” McLellan said.
Despite Democrats claiming that the tax cuts would ruin the economy, President Bush showed his leadership by getting the tax cuts passed. As a result, our country is recovering from the Clintonian Recession.

Near rock-bottom short-term interest rates, along with President Bush’s third round of tax cuts, have helped the economy shift into a higher gear during the summer, economists said. The next challenge is making sure the
rebound is self-sustaining, they said.

We need President Bush to continue this phenomenal progress with the economy. The same tax cuts, which resulted in this economic boost, are at the risk of being repealed under a Democrat president. Don’t let that happen.

President Bush Asks You to Volunteer for His Campaign

President Bush sent a message to his online supporters urging them to volunteer for his re-election campaign. Read the letter below, Blogs For Bush hopes you’ll answer his call by volunteering today.

Over the last few months, Laura and I have traveled the country and have been humbled by the enthusiastic support we have been given.
Our country has faced many challenges in the last two and half years and we are meeting these challenges at home and abroad. We’re defeating the enemies of freedom. And at the same time, we’re confronting challenges to build prosperity for our nation and a more compassionate society.
Every test has revealed the true character of America. And no one in the world can doubt the spirit and will and strength of the American people.
We are meeting the challenges of our time but there is much more to be done and I need your support. Will you join me in these efforts by volunteering for my re-election campaign as a Bush Team Leader?
As a Bush Team Leader you will be asked to help by volunteering at local events, hosting your own events, registering new voters, turning out voters on Election Day and more. Most importantly, you will be asked to recruit more Bush Team Leaders to help us win in November 2004. Please sign up to be a part of this important effort today.
The challenges we face cannot be met with timid actions or bitter words. They will be overcome with optimism and resolve and confidence in the ideals of America.
We are acting to advance human freedom and liberty and making the world and America more secure. We took action to create jobs and get the economy growing again.
We acted on principle. You did not send me to this office to mark time. You sent me here to restore dignity and honor to the White House and to help build a safe and prosperous and caring nation. Will you join me in this effort by becoming a Bush Team Leader and volunteer your time?
I want to thank you for the work that you will do in the months to come. There is no question in my mind that with your help we are laying the foundation to win a great victory in November of 2004.
Sincerely,
George W. Bush

Wictory Wednesday

This picture was taken at the “memorial service” for Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN) exactly one year ago. It shows a former president and vice president grinning ghoulishly at the thought that a colleague’s death may help them hold on to his Senate seat. It reveals Democrat leaders for what they really are: America-hating, partial-birth-aborting, tax-raising, power-hungry career politicians who have no respect for the basic norms of human decency.
It is essential that we reduce the Democrat party to a permanent minority party in 2004. That’s the only way to preserve the American Dream.
Today is Wictory Wednesday. Every Wednesday, I ask my readers to volunteer and/or donate to the Bush 2004 campaign. If you’ve already volunteered and donated, then get a friend to join you.
If you’re a blogger, you can join Wictory Wednesday simply by putting up a post like this one every Wednesday, asking your readers to volunteer and/or donate to the Bush campaign. And do e-mail me so that I can add you to the Wictory Wednesday blogroll, which will be a part of the Wictory Wednesday post on all participating blogs:

Fighting at Home and Abroad

October 27th was a bad day in Baghdad. Car bombs exploded outside five buildings, causing at least 34 deaths and more than 200 injuries. The attacks took place over a forty-five minute period, all within a ten mile radius. The terrorists struck on the first day of Ramadan, the month-long Muslim holiday.
Ramadan is advertised as a time of worship and contemplation, and a time to strengthen family and community ties. Attacking targets that include the International Red Cross and community police stations hardly fits the bill of this holy month. I am happy to read that a great many Iraqis didnít call for the blood of Americans, but indeed cursed the attackers and their methods. Many of the same policemen that sustained injuries or witnessed the decapitation of a little child, while still holding his school books, cursed the cold blooded killers. Captain Kassem of the Iraqi police shouted ìThis act cannot have been committed by humans, what brutality! We have found an unknown child of about six or seven on the street.î He added ìWe will fight these acts of sabotage till the last drop of our blood; we want to serve our country. Our morale is high. Thank God.î
While we fight everyday in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in other smaller operations worldwide, we must remain dedicated to the job at hand. President Bush spoke to the press at a joint meeting with Paul Bremer, the U.S administrator in Iraq. Bush said ìThe more successful we are on the ground, the more these killers will react.î The President added that we would stay the course, and I agree that we must. Not staying the course would invite more attacks worldwide than we can imagine. We would be seen as weak, much like we were after pulling out of Somalia.
Fighting at home erupted in the now predictable fashion, with Democratic hopefuls choosing ridicule over substance, leadership, and counsel. Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass) pulled out tired rhetoric from the Vietnam War era, saying the Administration was using the ìlight at the end of the tunnelî justification for the situation in Iraq. He asks, ìDoes the President really believe that suicide bombers are willing to strap explosives to their bodies because weíre restoring electricity and creating jobs for Iraqis?î Emphatically, the answer is yes. Every time an Iraqi citizen gets a job, more stability is brought to the country of Iraq, and another nail is driven into the coffin of Islamic extremism. I was happy to hear Kerry admit to the fact we are creating jobs and restoring electricity. At this point I would love to quote some helpful advice from the other Democratic hopefuls. The only thing holding me back is that there just isnít any.
John McCain (R-Ariz) also jumps into the fray with his comment to Newsweek. Newsweek released itís full Bush bash edition this week where McCain says, ìThis is the first time that I have seen a parallel to Vietnam, in terms of information that the Administration is putting out versus the actual situation on the ground.î I am not sure what the Senator would have the Administration say. The news media spends a huge proportion of their war coverage on ìbadî news; the administration has to do what they can to balance the coverage. We all remember what happened when Don Rumsfeld tried to put down some concerns in a Memo. The Media and Democrats went nuts, with some even going so far as to asking him to resign.
The facts on the ground are mixed on any given day. The Administration acknowledges the good as well as the bad. The media and Democratic hopefuls should do the same. The American people can take the news in any case, and Americans will choose leadership over carping every time. President Bush will trust his instincts and stay the course, and America will be the better for his courage.
